Elfé found herself in the technologically advanced San Fransokyo. It stood as a stark contrast to her ravaged homeworld. This place didn't have the equivalent of Shinra sucking the life out of the planet itself, so that was a good thing. But that didn't mean that there weren't shady individuals roaming around either... They came in many forms, but if you wanted to tap into a criminal market, then it was the enigmatic people that fancied themselves "Collectors"... Taking in rare pieces of technology and artifacts. Often through quite underhanded means if money wasn't enough, or if the owner was asking for a little too much.
She had acclimated pretty well to this city, so she was able to pick out a target that was guilty of this very act. Now, she didn't think herself much of a Vigilante, but she was interested in what he had recently acquired. Supposedly it was a set of crystals said to hold great magical power. Most people thought it nothing more than superstition, or merely the result of a stolen experiment from one of the up and coming scientists that made their way in San Fransokyo.
Another such rumor was that they came from another world entirely. If that part was true, then Elfé had a pretty good idea on what they were. So she immediately set out to do a bit of "collecting" of her own... Despite the heavy security, she didn't have any problems breaking into their 'personal museum'. It was filled with armed guards, practically armed like a private military company. Not that it helped them against the woman that was on the hunt for Materia. Despite the fact that she was only armed with a sword, she didn't even need to use that on them.
A combination of the hilt, the sheath, and her own CQC techniques were enough to render the guards unconscious. The owner of this places was away, so that was another complication avoided. The newest addition wasn't on display, but she had a feeling this locked briefcase housed exactly what she was after... Especially since those guards were so keen on keeping her away from it.
She'd left a nice mess for them to come back to, but no one had lost their life. So that was something. She wasn't here to punish criminals, she was just out to secure Materia for herself. It was illegally gained in the first place, so... She wasn't going to lose sleep on this.
Elfé mused on that as she calmly makes her way through the streets, briefcase in hand. Right now it was night, which was the perfect time to pull the heist. So far, it seems like she was going to make a nice clean getaway.
"If only it went that smoothly when we were dealing with Shinra...", she mutters under her breath.______ yojimbo

"...Chigaoyo, kuzu-ko. Not as smooth as you think." came an unfamiliar voice. The deep sound carried a tone of confidence and threat, as did the posture of the man who stepped into the road some tens of feet before the thief. Even among the varied citizens of the city, his garb was almost offensively far out of place, a set of thick cloth garb the ends of which showed their fair share of wear and tatter. Though some places were patched with thread and new cloth, every bit of it looked ready to ward off the next cut. It was not the getup of a pedestrian, and its owner looked to be wearing it with pride, just as he held the sheathed sword, delicately resting on his shoulder beside the stole connected to a sash of large, antique-looking badges. The whole thing was extravagant, if not in the garish, jewel-studded way.
Whoever he was, he took his time strolling across the road to set a long pipe down on a mailbox where a small pouch was resting. He took it up, pulled open the top and took quick stock of what was inside, then mumbled, "Eighty," to himself and pocketed it. "That case belongs to someone who'd sooner trust me with it than you, kuzu-ko. You don't want to worry an old purveyor, would you?" He spoke with a rather thick accent, but he made sure to speak slowly, deliberately and clearly, so his listener could be sure of what he was saying- including the derogatory tone of the nickname he'd given her. The offer was obvious, safety in exchange for whatever was in the case. That is, assuming the cut-off and the sword weren't good enough hints already. "I would personally advise that you not seek higher ground. He has hired spotters to watch them, and I have been assured that they are very talented marksmen."

Elfé would pause as she heard the voice of a stranger speaking with a rather thick accent. Though he also took a very deliberate, slow tone so as to be understood. And the message he wished to give is that he was not an ally. Suffice to say; message received. With her free hand, she'd grip the sheath of her sword, staring him down as he kept to a slow pace. Eventually he'd stop and look over a pouch that seemed to have been deliberately placed for him. Given the brief comment he had to say afterwards, it seems that was his payment.
So this was a Mercenary of some variety. Great. Well, she'd been in worse situations by her own estimate; this man was no Sephiroth for one thing. Even though he wielded a similarly large sword. "Yeah. Talented marksman.", she'd comment, looking up to the rooftops for a moment. Though not long enough to leave herself open to the man, as she soon returned her gaze to him. "I'd wager about as capable as the rest of his men back at his house... In case you can't tell. Not a scratch on me."
She'd open her cape a little more by shifting her arms. Still keeping purposeful grip on the sheath, and a tight grip on that briefcase. Sure enough, not a sign of injury on even her clothing... "I think we can drop the formalities about him being an innocent old collector, too. This never belonged to him in the first place.", Elfé adds. To be fair, she WAS squaring off with a man hired to get the briefcase and it's contents back... So she wasn't entirely wrong no matter how you sliced it.
He dabbled in the underworld for what he was after. And it seems Elfé wasn't exactly afraid of what she'd have to wade through in order to get what she was after in turn. "Not sure how much your employer paid you. But you don't seem to be in a rush to get into a fight."
She'd keep her guard up, turning slightly to better show the sword resting at her side. Not removed from it's sheath once this night, but that might change in short order, depending on how this goes down... "So. We have the opportunity to talk..."
With that said, Elfé would fall silent and carefully gauge his reaction. Time would tell if he'd just press the offensive or not. And in the off chance he was more skilled than she bargained for... Well, there was a second option._______ yojimbo

He acknowledged the proverbial shot taken at his coworkers' skills with an indifferent, "Sok'ka." but it didn't convince him of anything. He trusted them about as much as he needed to share a job with them, although that wasn't very much.
Elfé made a remark about his pay, and about his enthusiasm. More specifically, his lackthereof. It was true, he didn't have much passion for this particular job. It was a cheap, quantity-over-quality kind of contract. She had probably picked up on that already, given how easily she'd dealt with most of his client's other hires. Still, he could tolerate a chore of association for the sake of pay. "Not much," he confirmed, casually facing away and strolling in an uncertain direction. He wasn't anywhere near as aggressive toward her as she was to him. His hands weren't even near his weapon. "If he knew the value of safety, he would not pay so little. I am bound by too flimsy a bid."
"Daga-" In no rush at all, he took up the hilt of the sword at his side, sliding it out of the sheathe and letting it dangle from his hand while facing her again. "Utsuke'zo, kuzu-ko? Are you a fool, too?" It was a pretty simple question, a mere question of her ability to assess a risk, but the challenge was there. He was asking if she could assess his risk. She could probably avoid this one, if she took the offer implied by his lowered sword, and his outstretched hand, palm turned upward in a blatant request for compensation. When he looked at her, his raised brow confirmed that, no matter what he was hired to get, what he wanted was different.

Well, this was a man of few words, and that made for a dangerous prospect. He might be more of a dangerous warrior than she was anticipating, and she didn't have much Materia to make use of at the moment... But the greatest bargaining chip she had at the moment was that she had the briefcase. And he wasn't trying to attack her either. Rather, he implied that his employer didn't offer much for this job. After that he'd begin to pull his sword -- slowly, and purposely so. As if to imply he wasn't aiming to initiate combat just yet... The way he held the blade backed up that line of logic as well.
Instead, he extends an open hand towards her, as if expecting to be paid on the spot. Elfé carefully considered this, avoiding a fight at this point would certainly be preferable, but she did still have the leverage at the moment... "Interesting... So are you only interested in money, or would you accept other forms of payment as well?", she asks, curious of exactly what all he wanted here.
She kept ready to defend herself. Especially evident by the fact that she began to draw her own sword slowly, and kept the blade pointed down and away from him... But she was ready to shift into a combat stance at a moment's notice. Right now they were in a calm before the storm, a negotiation phase. She needed to see where things lie before she jumps to a conclusion.
Stalling for time probably wouldn't work due to how late it was, and he might not even care about other people getting caught up in this either. So she wasn't going to risk that. No, Elfé had to get herself out of this situation now. Whether that was paying him, fighting him off, or coming up with some other solution...
At least this might give her a bit of time to think it over, and she might better understand the options available to her once she had an answer from him.______ yojimbo

The mercenary blinked a bit slowly, still holding his bored-and-disappointed sort of composure before tugging the brim of his hat down in a poor attempt to conceal an amused, "Pff." As far as it's pulled it, though, it didn't quite hide the slight smile he'd caught from his outburst. He pushed it back up with a pointing finger and addressed the proposition. A close observer might notice that, even with his hat in the way, he had never looked down or away from her. Even when trying to stay modest, he wouldn't give up his line of sight so easily. "You flatter me," he admitted the remainders of a held back laugh still evident in his voice that he was probably keeping down so as not to give them away, "But, ah... No, no, I do not. Favors are not... reliable."
Still, he got the message, pulling his hand back and taking up a more focused sort of stance with his body slanted away and his sword arm somewhat hidden on his opposite side. "S'koshi... Little as it is, it may have to do." The laughter had passed, and he'd gone back to his default statement of disappointment. He wasn't making any attempt at an approach, probably so she could still make another offer, but he was making it rather obvious that the lack of one was just motivating him to stick with his original, dissatisfying deal.
Thus, his threat was laid bare, and his price made clear. "I will take one deal or another, but I must be paid for my time." He'd either be taking the one payment for returning the case, or whatever 'safety deposit' she chose to make (which he was being less subtle about by the second), but he refused to leave without either. "Sentakush'té kudasai, kuzu-ko. Make your choice."

It seems as though the Mercenary was amused at the prospect of receiving some other form of payment. That prompted Elfé to raise a brow as she thought that over. Though his words would eventually offer the insight she needed. It seemed that what she said was misconstrued to mean something else. Rather than becoming angry and flustered, she would calmly shake her head. "Not exactly what I mean, but... It answers my question. You are only interested in selling your sword for monetary gain.", she replies, kneeling down calmly as she rests the briefcase on the ground.
"Well. I don't really care about his collection of illegally gained goods. I'm after a very specific type of item... So, I'll crack this case open. If it doesn't contain what I'm after, then you can have it and return it to your employer. You've no reason to fight me, only to regain the property.", she reasons calmly. A calm smirk forming on her face. "A poor choice of wording on his part, one that I noticed."
If unimpeded, she would calmly raise her sword, and use the hilt to smash the locks on the briefcase. "Flimsy.", she noted. Such little security... She was used to Shinra heavily locking up their valuables that they didn't want any potential enemies getting their hands on. But this was almost disappointingly easy. A quick strike on each section of the lock would snap it apart, and then she could effortlessly pull the case open.
From there, she was able to confirm the contents -- Again, so long as she wasn't interrupted. "Sadly, I won't be paying you. As a Warrior, you have no sense of loyalty. You flock to the highest bidder, and I sense that this isn't the first time you have asked a target to pay you off.", she then notes.
Unfortunately, what she noticed in the case confirmed that a fight was just about unavoidable. There really was a red Materia in here... A Summon Materia. She would calmly retrieve it from the case, and then stand up. "Well. I have what I want. You could take the rest back. But I'm not so foolish as to think that you would leave a job half finished, even for lousy payment.", Elfé then comments.
Due to that, she would calmly stow away the Materia, and ease into a fighting stance with her sword.
"A man like that doesn't need something like this. If you wish to return it to him... You'll have to take it from me."
All of this was assuming, of course, that she wasn't attacked at any point before she readied herself. If she was, then she was very careful not to leave herself entirely open for one simple reason... Materia wasn't easily damaged.______ yojimbo

For a moment, he seemed that maybe he'd act agreeably on the manner, loosening up and even going so far as to sheathe his sword. That is, until she finished spouting nonsense and raised her weapon, at which point he chose to respond. "Oré ga... kotowaru'zo." With his sword hand free, he drew two fingers upward through the air, leaving a trace of dim purple light in the path they took. Then, when the woman's sword came down, it... didn't. Rather, the force she would have wanted to muster for the strike, no matter how minor, was out of reach. All the intent in her muscles was suddenly gone, replaced by a want to move, quickly, randomly, and without coordination of any sort. Her control was gone, stripped from her body by the onset of some unknown curse. Could she hold the sword anymore? Could she stand? Could she breathe? The mercenary didn't seem too hung up on waiting to see.
On the contrary, he was really taking his time strolling over to his victim who had been robbed of the chance to sate her curiosity. The box remained closed, and he was content to gloat in his own, passive-aggressive way. "You are right, kuzu-ko. I do have no reason to fight, but I do still have the ability." Once he'd gotten in towering-over-her distance, a feat that wasn't all that difficult given the change in circumstance, he took the moment to look over what condition she was in. "You had your choice," he said, reaching down to pluck the case from the pavement...

A strange feeling washed over Elfé. It started small, almost unnoticeable. But as her arm dropped, it lacked the force she intended behind the strike... And then she began to spasm uncontrollably. It didn't take her long to piece together just what had happened, even before the man spoke. Yes... The sellsword. The one without honor. Though she refrained from making such a comment before, that seemed to be the complete truth now.
No matter how she willed her body, it refused to listen. A multitude of emotions ran through her mind. Hatred. Anger. Frustration. She cursed that she had grown so weak, to be defeated so effortlessly... She couldn't even fight back. This was a humiliating defeat. And it was one that she kept swearing to pay him back for, if she ever saw him again. He calmly approached, intent on taking the briefcase after so easily disabling his opponent.
<Without Zirconiade... To think I'd lament the loss of that power... Even knowing it needed to be destroyed.>, she thought to herself. There wasn't a single thing she could do to stop him now. The only comfort was that he didn't seem intent on taking her life. A small mercy, it seems. But being denied even the chance to defend herself... That drove her mad.
And then, she heard a voice in her mind. A foreign voice.
<Do you wish for power?>
Even as she was left writhing on the ground, unable to collect herself physically... She was able to give a resounding shout from within her mind.
<Yes!>
The briefcase that Yojimbo was now reaching for began to vibrate intensely. And then it suddenly broke apart, as a single red orb would narrowly whip past his hand and shoot straight for the woman still left helpless on the ground. The Summon Materia would bury itself into the back of her hand, and begin to glow brighter.
Elfé grits her teeth, as a surge of magical energy begins to fill her entire body -- and practically drip off of her form, leaving particles in the air.
"Haagghhh..."
She finally let out a slow breath, as her body began to morph physically. Talons growing from her hands and feet. Scales forming over her skin. Wings sprouting from her back, along with a tail. Her eyes changed color as well, turning a pure golden. Small horns began to protrude from her head...
And then... The woman fell still. For but a moment. As she suddenly leaps towards her assailant! She brings a single hand forth, all of that magical energy collecting into a single point... And then bursting forth in a massive explosion! Megaflare.
After having done that, Elfé would straighten herself out. Finally feeling some relief... It seems fusing with a new Summon had the benefit of breaking her free of the effects of Disruption. But that would only happen the one time.
The fight was yet to be decided, it seems._______ yojimbo Actions: 1 - Materia Fusion: Bahamut (Plot-based) - Appearance Shift2 - Megaflare - (Plot-based, deals massive unaspected magic damage) Cooldowns: Materia Fusion: Bahamut - Lasts for the entire thread. Megaflare - Plot-based: Can only be used once per thread.Notes: Materia Fusion removes the effects of Disruption only this one time. She is not immune to effects, nor can it remove any others after this point.

"Nani-?" Seeing the orb burst from its case was enough to give him pause, but it was too obvious something was off when the transformation took place. Once he saw something coming, he didn't hesitate to do what any reasonable person would. That, of course, was to find someplace to be that was anywhere other than where he currently was. "Toku," he muttered, going low and getting a hand on his weapon again. "-Kan!" he concluded, and an instant later he was several feet behind her, arm stretched out in the follow-through of an unseen swing and legs whirling to a stop at the end of his dash before he spun about to face her again. Sure enough, the lights from a moment ago were not for show. The blast had mostly gone into the air, but a good amount of the road was scraped away nonetheless. Thankfully, the damage wasn't interesting enough to distract him from a coin that had fallen onto the ground after his attack.
This would be a bit more complicated after all. "Moshiroin, da'zo," he commented, mostly to himself. "I should introduce myself- You've earned that much." Again, he stood in that slanted manner, with his right arm- his sword arm -concealed behind himself. This time, it was less of a threat and more like a demonstration to accompany his introduction. "They only dare to whisper it- The name of Setsujoku-no-ken- the Blade of Vengeance: Yojimbo." Setting his other foot forward, he sheathed his sword once more, this time slowly and deliberately, with his hand never quite leaving the hilt. Though his face was blocked by hit hat, he could most certainly still see her through it. "Put down the ball. I will not ask you again."

The fact that she was injured was not lost on her, nor did something else escape her notice. As it started as blood that poured from her wound, but soon turned into a coin. A coin which she snatched up effortlessly as she continues her forward momentum, coming to an almost abrupt halt. She simply stands there, not even facing her attacker as she flips the coin across her knuckles, observing it... "What's this?", she spoke. Although her voice was largely the same, there was... A different tone to it.
She merely repeated the same trick with the coin over and over again. Only stopping once the man began to speak once more, with that, she would suddenly pull her hand away from the coin, and catch it in her palm before it even fell. Just as effortlessly as when she caught it, she would crush it in her grip, turning to him once more. His introduction earned a smirk out of the barely recognizable woman. "Setsujoku-no-ken. Blade of Vengeance: Yojimbo.", she spoke with purpose. Nearly shouting the name. The intent behind it was clear. There was no longer any fear in this girl.
And almost as if to add further insult, she would calmly extend the hand that held the coin, palm facing the ground. She opened her fist and let the remnants of the coin drop, useless shards were all that remained. "That "ball" you speak of is far more important than you give it credit for, mortal. I am Bahamut. I am no mere trophy to be displayed in a weak man's collection.", well, that more or less confirmed that he was no longer speaking to Elfé.
With that, the woman lowers her arm to her side. "You are not in any position to be making demands of me. Rather, I may just use you to test my power for your insolence..."
Pride oozed out of every word. And on a surface level, there was no hesitation to be seen.
Though when it came to the mind...
<To think she would faint with a single display of my power... Humans are such fragile creatures. I must condition her.>, the newly released Dragon thought to itself.______ yojimbo Actions: 1 - Snatched the Greed Coin, and crushed it in hand.

He didn't respond to her threats at first, instead staying where he was and quietly considering it. "...So'ka," Yojimbo said aloud at some point, then he let the silence hang again. "Ja, ikimasho, Bahamyuto!" He rushed toward her, sheathed sword in hand at his left, though this approach was without the speed of his previous escape. In fact, there was nothing special about it at all, just a straightforward charge into the melee range of a dragon king. Though there were many obvious ways in which that could go wrong, he rolled with it, stepping up with no hesitation at all.
Once he was there, he set to work, slashing up at a diagonal with his still-sheathed weapon, apparently aiming to club her chin with it rather than go for any more cuts. Whether it hit or not, he didn't let the follow through stop until his arms were high, where he then stepped into his next strike, bringing it down hard back onto her head. They were forceful, confident attacks, but with little strategy shown beyond the most basic cruelty that comes with any act of bludgeoning. If the strikes went through, they would be vicious blows indeed, but the truest novice could see either attack coming rather easily, so it may have been tough to put any stock in the pride he'd shown before, if not for the devious trick he'd shown just earlier with that one curse, as well as the calculated way he kept the hat angled down to hide his eyes...

Bahamut only grinned as Yojimbo closed the distance to carry through on some admittedly skillful strikes. Though he'd find that each one was much like trying to strike a Wall... And there was a reason for that, given the spherical barrier that had formed around the dragon woman. There was but a brief moment before she would grab hold of his dominant sword arm and yank him towards her fist, aimed at his gut. She was stronger now... That much was certain. If her blow was successful, she'd release the arm and follow up with jumping into the air as she raised one of her legs up high, bringing it back down in a devastating axe kick aimed at his head as gravity assisted in the strike.
Each of her blows felt empowered... As if they weren't just physical attacks, despite the fact that she was obviously not using a weapon nor spells. After having delivered her response to his actions, she would flap her wings once, soaring away from him as she lands atop a parked car, crossing her arms. "I do hope you'll make this a little more interesting... After that grand introduction you gave."
It seemed that the woman wasn't going to take any further action. Nor was she attempting to hide or escape. In fact... The only reason she didn't even seem to be fighting seriously yet was a matter of pride. She did not yet see this man as worthy of her full effort. Although it was true that he only just started fighting. Perhaps that was why she was letting him gather his bearings after what just happened.
_______ yojimbo Actions: 1 - Casts Wall, halving damage from physical and magical means. It would have been easy to feel some disappointment at how dull his strike was, but it was easy enough to see the sheen of her shield spell that he could just blame that on the magic instead of his own lack of force. What he wasn't quite so satisfied with was the result of what happened next. His off hand was able to meet the incoming fist in time, catching it with a palm, and he immediately regretted trying to block it when he felt the sting of magic coming up through his arm. He had the split second he needed to throw himself back a pace before her foot came down, though she was retreating before he could move to counter.
Nonetheless, his sword was at the ready, blade still jacketed as he anticipated some attack to come about before that monologue was done with. Unfortunately, it seemed like she was going to play this just as carefully as him, only making a move if she was sure to get something out of it. Nothing would really happen if she just flew away at every other moment. Her patronizing taunts only added to her image as someone who refused to take part in a proper fight unless she had some sort of advantage first.
It was hard to resist the urge to grin or smirk at her. "So, you are afraid to fight," he concluded aloud. "If you'd rather a game, then I will play along." He leaned down and set his weapon on the pavement next to a drainage grate before standing back up to face her with a more open stance. If she wouldn't take him seriously, then he felt comfortable doing the same. "To hold oneself back in battle is the greatest insult to a warrior," he shot, raising his fists in a post more akin to someone about to box a delinquent than someone trying to slay a dragon, "but disrespect has always been my specialty."

It seems that the man had come to a rather strange conclusion all on his own, considering the state of the battlefield, and how things had gone so far. But not one that seemed to displease Bahamut in the slightest, as she would calmly step forward, her wings extended out to slow the fall into a calm descent, making the landing seem as effortless as everything else she had done so far -- save for that Megaflare at the beginning. Though they WERE a fused entity, so it was hard to say who was responsible for that particular action...
In any case however, she said nothing in response to his words. But oh, she did intend to capitalize on something that he did. See, he was still in the middle of his own monologue, and he was shifting to an unarmed stance, leaving his weapon behind... In response to that, Bahamut would turn and pick up the car. By the time he had straightened himself out and turned his eyes back to her, he would see that she was lifting the car overhead.
... And she threw it straight at him. A strange tinge of magical energy coating it as it flew through the air. It was an obvious attack, and he had an opportunity to dodge, she knew that much. But he wasn't the main target. Hitting him would be a nice bonus, certainly! But no, her target was something else. The weapon that he left lying in open. She was going to bury it under a car. If he wanted to save it, he'd have to risk being hit with that attack.
That, and it would leave him wide open to further counterattack. If he did try to risk it, that's when he would find Thunder raining from the heavens to strike at him, and Fire to coat his sword. Though Bahamut knew that there was no means of melting such a blade, that didn't mean it would be safe to touch when it's directly in a fire.
If, however, he decided not to risk leaving himself wide open to attack and instead dodged the flying mass of steel heading his way, then Bahamut would merely do nothing and grin.
Either way, she would then speak. "Afraid to fight? Now, that's an amusing thought... Coming from the man that used an underhanded method to take down a girl without even giving her the chance to defend herself.", Bahamut states. No anger in her tone of voice, but one that took an immense satisfaction out of toying with an inferior opponent.
"There is difference between bravery and foolishness. A warrior such as yourself should know it already. One who has no honor should not expect an honorable fight."
Bahamut finished speaking, simply gauging what it was that Yojimbo would do now. Her arms had crossed once more.------ yojimbo Actions: 1 - Basic Attack: Car thrown at Yojimbo's sword -- with him in the direct trajectory of the throw. 2 - Lightning directly at him 3 - Fire at his sword, both to make it dangerous to pull it out of the fire, and to heat it to cause damage to his hands. Cooldowns: Wall's Effect - (2/2) Lightning (0/1) Fire (0/1) Notes: Applying the cooldowns for these spells even if they aren't used this turn.
