Who brings a Sword to a Shooting? [Yojimbo]

The little stunt had done pretty well to get the attention of several patrons, for better or for worse. Some had chosen to grit their teeth, apparently having seen plenty worse in their hours at the bar. Others decided they'd rather not take the risk, shuffling out of the room at as brisk a pace as they could manage without aggravating the gunner. In all, though, people seemed much less interested in doubting his authenticity. Even fewer seemed eager to see any more of his display. Only one man seemed to have had his interest held by the fiasco. Across the bar, he absently sipped some drink or another as he watched the disaster play out. His own safety was at far less risk than that of the typical patron, regardless of whether they were a veteran of this particular bar.

He was a bit of an outlier, as far as the room went, and that was even considering the odd apparel of the cat-man. He was a broad, bulky mess of a man, his shape obscured with a thick, ragged jacket which, judging by the many redone stitches, had seen its fair share of conflicts like this. What really made him stand out was the headpiece. It was the broadest brim in the sector, a wide cone of straw that kept his tipped head concealed while he quietly savored his time at the bar. Those who looked close enough to see past the rugged brunt of his appearance were treated to quite a few nifty details, though. There were a select few trinkets on his person, and though they weren't glamorous, they were certainly expensive. The stole spanning from his collar alone was probably the equivalent of wrapping a small fortune around his neck, and not too far below, the bandolier across his chest was an antique that some collectors would have drooled over if they recognized it. At his hip, though, was the one symbol of wealth that anyone could recognize, the gilded blue sheath of a very fancy-looking sword. One didn't need much knowledge of swords or craftsmanship to know this person must have been a stickler for both.

When the true chaos of the gunner's display unfolded, he moved, standing from his stool to pull the barkeep aside and speak with him just outside of the troublemaker's earshot. Whatever he offered, the worker was obviously desperate for it, and so they came to an agreement quickly, after which the stranger turned back to the machinist and walked into close earshot. "Oi, Kuzuneko," he quietly- but firmly -called him out, giving a solid jab on the shoulder as he walked by. Though the gunner was sitting down, it was clear that this swordsman was taller by quite the margin. Once he was at a good angle to get eye contact, he nodded over his shoulder and walked off toward the door, making sure his sheathed sword was in good view the whole while. It was a wordless invitation of, "Let's take this outside", clear as he could make it, but he doubted the catty shooter's ability to comprehend even something that explicit, so he stopped near the exit to confirm that he was following.
