This was rather unusual, Artoirel found himself at a loss for words as he walked through this wasteland. Mostly sand, but parts of buildings were sticking out. He did get closer to some of them and noted the presence of Cactuar in this area. Standing on the stone floor that stood somewhat at a slope due to the fact that the structure he was one had sunk into the sand and stood somewhat sideways, the noble thought for a moment, "what ruins were there in Thanalan... again... It isn't like I ever looked up anything about ruins, there were other wastelands in other parts of Hydaelyn, I should remind myself of that," he told himself as he continued.
As he looked around himself, suddenly a head stuck out behind one of the sand hills, "praise Halone! Company at last," he quickly jumped off the side of the structure he was standing on and hurried in a quick pace towards sand hill and soon got a better view of not one man, but two. They appeared to be two Hyur, but they could very well be Garleans as well. Looking at their gear, he would assume they were workers of some kind.
"Excuse me," Artoirel started with as he walked down towards them, albeit somewhat uncertain whether he was still in Eorzea or perhaps in another part of the world, so he doubted he should fully introduce himself. "There was... an accident and I have found myself in unfamiliar territory, can you perhaps tell me where I am?" he asked carefully in hopes to get some answers.
As soon as he had spoken, the two men spoke to one another in an unfamiliar language. This didn't look good to Artoirel, of all the thi- his thoughts were interrupted as one of the two spoke in common tongue all of a sudden, "welcome to Bikanel," the man started, "you're near the excavation camp, I can show you there, but we're rather busy. Someone there could perhaps help you out." Artoirel nodded his head at this and the three moved towards the excavation camp. It didn't take long before they found themselves near some more ruins with some odd structures placed near them.

“Come on! Let me take a look!” “Ed ec du tyhkanuic!” “I have no idea what you are saying.. Old man, this thing could give me a breakthrough on my research!” “Ihmacc oui byo vun ed, E fuh'd keja ed du oui!!”“Can someone translate to me what that old man is saying?!”Chronos was currently fighting with a elderly Al'Bhed about an old machine they had just dug out from old ruins in the sand. Coincidence or not, Chronos was happy he had ended up in familiar terrain at least. As a Seeker of the Sun, the dessert was something he had no problems with. It almost felt like he was back in his home, actually. He had just bumped into a group with machines to dig out some things out there in the heat and he had offered to help them out a little. They found some rather nice things out there, but this old man just won't let him take a closer look. Seems like he had smelled money, the second they had gotten it out of there. The Al'Behd were not stupid. They had seen that Chronos carried machines with him and had a good eye for these things. Of course he might be interested in getting more from them. An other Al'bhed moved over, smirking at the annoyed Mi'qote. “He said, he wants money for it.”“He WHAT?! I helped dig that out!!”“Yeah. With our machines.”The gunner grabbed his head, trying not to lose it in front of that man. “ARG, but I helped! Does that count for nothing?!” “Our machines, our findings.”“Oh, you have got to be kidding me!”He sighed in defeat after a while of continuing their argument, the man kicking a old piece of iron out of his way, when he heard people approaching from the entrance of the camp. His ears perked up when he noticed a rather interesting individual with them. Wait.. those ears and that armor.. could it be? He suddenly jumped, running in the direction of the three man. “What in the world?!” He stopped in front of the Elezen, eyeing him with what seemed to be shock. “Is the heat getting to my head...? Sir Artoirel?! What in the... What are you doing here?!”

Coming there at the excavation camp, Artoirel looked over the ruins and equipment while the other two left him. One of them headed back while the other spoke to him again, "I'll explain the situation to the others, but you're free to look around. Hope you find your way home," he said with a wave and moving away towards some other folks. Artoirel held up a hand in response to the goodbye before noting someone jumping and running. His eyes moving towards the figure that quickly stopped in front of him. Actually a familiar face!
Artoirel took a step back in surprise at seeing Chronos, "why, Master Ti'era! It is good to see you." He lifted his arms as he was glad of this occasion. "Praise Halone! To find a familiar face in these unknown lands," he said with a smile on his face, he couldn't hide his happiness that he found someone he knew, "if I may speak plain, I honestly have no idea what I am doing here. Part of me wishes I knew where even 'here' is." It felt almost funny, to find a good companion suddenly, perhaps it was fate. However, he still wasn't out of this situation.
"I hope you could tell me where this is," Artoirel continued, motioning his hand to allow his friend to speak. Perhaps he finally would know the answers to where he was and, if he was lucky, it would bring back some memories on how he got there or even what he was doing here. He wasn't entirely sure what was going on, the ruins were definitely of interest, but not something he could understand why House Fortemps would go to. Perhaps something happened in Thanalan that required his attention at this site, but he couldn't recall it and the two men didn't bring any memories to mind nor seemed to recognize him, so he was at a loss for words thus far.

The Warrior was so happy to see someone he knew, especially since it was a Fortemp of all people. The Fortemp family had done so much for him and he really owed them a lot, even though he also had helped them out a lot. Many warriors have, of course, but he.. well.. he didn't know if they knew he had such a deep connection to Haurchevant. He tried not to grab Artoirel and squeeze him out of happiness. He knew the other was a man of nobility and just hugging him like that would be very out of place. “I am very happy to see you too, Artoirel. Erm.. but about your question.. you will not like what I will tell you.” He sighed, his happiness to see the man slowly fading, now that he was slowly realizing the situation they both were in right now. He was a warrior of light. The echo helped him through the stars and he had a job out here, but how in the seven hells did the other end up here? This was bad.. very bad. “You.. erm.. well... You should maybe sit down for this, Ser Artoirel. Believe me.” He took the man by his arm, dragging him to a nearby tent that would keep the sand from blowing in their face all the time and make a conversation easier. He just pushed the man down into a chair, sitting down next to him, the Mi'qote taking off his red-colored glasses and moving them back up to his head, his expression both worried and serious. “Try not to get a heart attack, but erm...we are.. well.. not at home anymore. You are far away from Ishgard. Very far away. You could say.. stars apart?” He scratched his ear, trying to find words without sounding to blunt in front of the other. The elezen might freak out, since he had a very important job in Ishgard. “How did you end up here? Can't you remember? Maybe you fell in a rift from a Voidsend?”

Artoirel nodded his head, he could understand that he wasn't going to like this. Letting himself be carried along by his friend, the Count looked around to check on the people. He wasn't entirely sure if he should allow this ordeal, but at least he was getting some answers as the two moved to a nearby tent as the Ishgardian listened to Chronos. Though, his words weren't too comforting thus far. As he sat down, he listened to the Miqo'te's explanation.
Thinking back, Artoirel could not recall falling into any Rifts, did he? He had some things to do for Ser Redwald, wasn't he? It is like my mind isn't even capable of keeping track of these things right now, he thought to himself. This was clearly not helpful. The pain in his head had faded away in some manner, but he wasn't getting anywhere with this. If he was stars apart and Master Ti'era was here as well, then that meant there was a way back... was there?
Taking everything in calmly, Artoirel spoke: "No, I cannot say I fell into a rift, but everything is hazy from the moment I spoke Ser Redwald. I'm certain I moved out... I believe it was for certain supplies, but even that part is... hazy at best," he explained to the Miqo'te, uncertain about a great number of things. He doubted this was helpful. "So another Star?" That was a hard thing to swallow. "Considering... how you are bringing this, there isn't an easy flight back to Ishgard... or Hydaelyn for that matter... is there?" he asked in a slow pace as he was clearly showing discomfort towards this situation, but taking it as best as he could.

Chronos listened to the new head of the house Fortemp, his worry only growing when he heard what the oldest brother of the family had to say. So he couldn't remember? Getting thrown around in worlds was something one should surely remember. At least, how it started. Was this connected to those creatures he had met on the other stars and not the void send after all? But why would they take Artoriel of all people and not someone like Ser Aymeric or an other head of the Alliance to cause chaos? Was that even the reason? So many questions he had no answers to... at least not yet. He clicked his tongue, tail twitching slightly behind him. “That doesn't sound so good, Artoirel.”He looked up at the other again, eyes meeting those of the other, a small smile on his lips now, though. He tried to calm the other with his expression. “Well, you are correct about that, Ser Artoirel. But I am sure there is a way for you to return to your home and your family. Edmont must be worried sick already.”He stretched a little, getting up for the chair with a jump afterwards. “Sitting here and worrying won't help us much. Hydealyns blessing might be able to help. I can at least try to bring you back home.” He scratched his ear slightly, brainstorming on any possibilities he might have to save the other from this star. “Or I could at least bring you somewhere that isn't so hot. You must be burning up in that armor.”

Honestly Artoirel wondered as much why he was there of all people like Chronos was, the new Count couldn’t exactly understand if there was a specific reason for him to be there. If it was due to a connection to Chronos, perhaps? But who could tell. He was not one of the people bearing the Echo like how there were several among the Scions. So there had to be some other reason if there was even a reason. It seemed too much like ‘luck’ for him to be moved from his world and just so happen upon Chronos.
While his father could be worried, Artoirel felt like he should worry even more. They were only just building things up and without his part in Ishgard... Honestly, I hope Emmanellain doesn’t try and pick things up, nothing against him, but I doubt he’d make the right decisions, he hoped his father could pick things up for the moment, Count Edmont probably knew how to handle things for now until his return. But he couldn’t linger here for too long.
"You reached this place by way of the Echo?" he asked curiously while he stood up as well, "while I’m... better used to the cold weather, I’ve been able to handle the heat quite well. We’ve trained to stand also in Ala Mhigo against the Empire after all. Especially these days many of our soldiers go there. A few enchantments really do a good job at keeping the temperature at bay," he said in a formal tone as he patted with a hand on his armor. "Still, staying at an excavation site won’t help us, so lead the way," he said with a wave of his arm. --- Chronos Ti'era

Chronos blinked a little before a smile would cross his face. Oh yeah. They had fought not only in Ishgard, so Artoriel has been in such terrain and heat before. It was good to see that even in this situation, Artoriel kept a cooler head than most others would. His younger brother would definitely have already flipped and Haurchefant- He twitched for a moment, thinking about Artoirels other brother, his expression turning sadder. Haurchefant.. would have surely loved to be part of this adventure.... in a way. “I.. yes, staying here won't help us in any way.”, he mumbled, trying to shake the feelings off, a bright smile returning to his features. It was the best smile he could muster with those memories coming back to him. He balled his hand to a fist and bumped it against his torso. “Don't worry. I am sure I can find a way to get us our of here!”He looked over to the old man, both exchanging a death glare, whilst the older Al Bhed held onto his machine he found. “Hey, old man! You can keep that junk! I lost interest!”The old man yelled something back, gesturing wildly with his arms, Chronos only sighing and turning away from him. “ Tsk. You help them and they don't even pay you back. Not my kind of company anyways. Let's see...” He knelled down, opened his back and started digging through it. “Hm... no.. no.. no, not that.. Hey, I was looking for these spare goggles for ages! .... Ah!” It seemed like he got a hold of what he wanted, pulling out a object and showing it to Artoirel. “It's an ether compass. That baby will show us the way to a good spot with lots of ether nearby! I will try to send us somewhere else with that ether. Sound like a plan?”
