It was too far. No one said that it was going to be this far. His vision was blurred as he saw the world slowly race toward him, a beacon in the darkness that surrounded him, that pulled at him, threatening to take control over his glider. His armor was the only thing that protected him from the darkness closing in on him but it was so constricting that he could barely breathe as his heart trumpeted in his chest, each thump a pain that threatened to knock him off. If he fell though, if he went off course, the darkness would encompass him again and that'd be it, Cain would be trapped forever in the darkness again. Falling to one knee on his glider, Cain grasped the handle with all his strength even if it felt like his hands were no longer there, a numbing feeling that felt as if it was spreading upward from his finger tips. Almost... there... just a bit... more...Yet even now, his breathing got more hectic and strained as he tried to rush forward even faster to escape the darkness, Cain focusing purely on what was in front of him as things began to darken on the edge of his vision. The darkness was encroaching and forcing its way over him, pulling at him as his control over his glider began to waver, the large surf-board styled keyblade glider wobbling uncertainly in the darkness between worlds. A few more short, pained breaths did little to help as Cain slumped forward a little on his board before he burst into the world itself in a brilliant trail of light. It was quite lucky that his armor still held the same defensive capabilities it always did, for as Cain fell toward the world of Radiant Garden it acted as armor should, and took the blunt of the impact as the semi-conscious Keyblader bounced hard off the side of a building before crashing down into an alleyway a little past the main square. Only lucky bit was that his impact was softened by a poor little patch of bushes that were now nicely displayed on the cobblestone path instead of the planter they grew up in. Rolling over out of the planter and onto the ground, Cain coughed and struggled with his armor before simply just ripping his helmet off and coughing hard, a hand clutched to his chest. Rina Croft

Rina had been awake for a while, but had decided to spend the morning being lazy in bed. The merchant had no stops she had make that day and had worked hard the days beforehand. Rina deserved a break. She couldn’t think of the last time when she treated herself to just having a peaceful day to herself. While laying on her side she had been eyeing a book that had been laid on her bedside table the night before and was just about to reach her arm out to grab it when she heard a loud crash and felt a slight rattle around her room that sounded like it had been caused by something just outside her window! Rina threw the covers off of her and sprinted to the small balcony she had attached to her room, throwing open the glass doors so she could step outside. The morning was cool and so was the wrought iron railing as she gripped it and leaned slightly over it to look down into the street. Her eyes immediately zoomed in on a man clad in armor, sprawled out in what used to be her garden spot. He seemed to be in mild distress. Rina could hear him coughing roughly from where she stood. The man didn’t seem to be actively dying so that was a good sign. “Hey!! Are you okay?!”Rina wanted to run down and help the man but she remained where she was just to see if she could get a read on him. Not everyone who crashed at her doorstep would have good intentions. It was time she learned that. “Do you need medical attention? I can help you!”

Panting and trying to focus, Cain was beginning to calm down a bit as his vision started to clear up and the light in this world was more than enough to reinforce the fact that he was safe now. Taking a deep breath and coughing again, Cain heard a voice from somewhere above him and he looked up to find the source of the voice, eventually pushing himself onto his back and looking up at the person in question. " Don't worry..." he called up, coughing a bit, " My body broke my fall." Cain reached a shaky hand over to his shoulder and dismissed his armor before letting his hand fall once more as he laid on his back. Being freed of his armor, Cain was able to take a deep, full breath before he let out a softer cough and rubbed his chest a bit. It felt better being out of the armor, but he also felt that his entire body was just a mess of mashed omph-ness. " Though... I might of cracked a couple of ribs but what do I know, I'm no White Mage!" Cain exclaimed loudly, laughing a bit before flinching. " You know, that seems more and more likely... you want a chocolate?" Cain asked, pulling a piece of chocolate out of a pouch and holding it up, before lazily throwing it at the door to the house. Cain groaned and closed his eye, rubbing it with one hand before offering his hand up at the woman. " The name is Cain. This city doesn't have months of nighttime, right?" He asked, not really moving from the ground where he laid. It was cold, hard, and honestly felt good on his roughed-up body.

Rina watched the chocolate hit the wooden door, a dull thunk reaching her ears. She was currently a mixture of amused and confused. Not many men crashed at her doorstep and offered her chocolate. This was a first. Up on the balcony, she shifted her weight from one cold foot to the other as the man introduced himself as Cain. Rina laughed softly as he lamented about a town with months of nighttime. Oh she knew what he spoke of very well. “My name’s Rina. Sounds like you’ve been stuck in Traverse Town. You’re in Radiant Garden now, so don’t worry. We’ve got daytime and nighttime.” Rina stepped back from the railing and turned to go back inside her room. “Stay put. I’ll be down in a sec.”
---- A short time later saw Rina exiting her home in her pajamas, still barefoot and in a robe. She stopped for a split second to pick up the thrown chocolate and slip it in her pocket for later and then rushed over to the fallen stranger. She knelt down beside him and glanced over him, taking in his scuffed up appendages and clothing. She peered up into his face and was slightly shocked at how green his un-patched eye was. Rina was silent for a moment before she was able to go back into action. She stood up and held out her hand to help the man into a sitting position. “I can mend your ribs if they are broken, but damn… you’ve demolished the garden.”

Cain looked around him as he laid in the dirt before looking back up toward the woman in the window and nodded. " I mean, I know I'm in a garden but it doesn't quite seem so radiant anymore." He called out, before using his arms to make himself a pillow out of the loose dirt and lay his head on it, finding a bit of comfort in the cold soil pillow. " I'm not going anywhere fast, take your time." Cain mumbled, closing his eye and groaning a little bit after an attempt at a sigh. Pulling a second chocolate out of the little pouch, Cain removed the tin cover and popped it in his mouth, letting it melt a little bit as he waited for Rina to arrive and do... whatever she was planning on doing. Well, as long as it didn't involve ending him there and then, he didn't mind waiting for a bit. The cold floor was really quite calming and relaxing. Hearing a door open near-by though, he popped open his eye and looked around, seeing the woman bend down and pick up the chocolate he had thrown earlier. Well, she liked chocolate, most likely a good person then. That was how it worked right? As she walked over, Cain lifted an arm lazily and waved at her, before letting it plop down next to him again. She seemed to give him a look over, so he did the same to her and wondered if Sleep Wear was the outfit of choice in this world, or if he had woken her up when he crashed down. Either way, when she looked him in the face he smiled and leaned his head back into the soil pillow, before lazily taking the offered hand and sitting up, flinching the entire way up. " To be fair, the garden put up a good fight and got some licks in." He said, taking a shallow breath and flinching again. Laying down was a nicer position, less weight on his chest, but that time had passed. Picking up the first bit of greenery from the garden he could, he offered it to her, as one would a flower gently picked, instead of plants roughly crushed. " Hello again."

Rina had to hold back a snort as the man sitting in front of her offered her some spare greenery. With as straight a face as she could manage Rina bowed her head in thanks, accepting the plant. Then with a huge smile on her face she looked up at Cain. "It's what I always wanted. A fern!" Bursting into giggles, Rina stood up and helped the man up to his feet. "Let's get you patched up."
------------------------- A little while later found the pair in Rina's living room. She had directed the man to sit anywhere he felt comfortable. The woman dotted around the room gathering up various supplies that she would possible need to heal her patient. "Alright. Depending on how those ribs look we could go a couple of different routes with healing them. Slow and steady or fast and painful? What would you prefer?" With that Rina came to stand in front of Cain with a basket of items against her hip. She tried to smile politely at the man, but there was something else underneath it. Apprehension maybe? Healing someone took a special sort of bond. Rina just wasn't sure if she had any "special bonds" left in her. Hopefully it could be something simple and the man could go on his way. Cain Law

" Still got it... whatever it is." Cain said, before flinching and getting to his feet with Rina's help. " Patched up sounds pretty good right now." He added, before taking in a shallow breath and allowing her to lead his way. The house was pretty nice, at least he believed it to be a house. Either way, as she brought him into one of the main rooms of the house, he took a moment to take in the room before he focused back on her, finding that was a little hard for the moment, since breathing wasn't the easiest thing at the moment. While looking for a seat, Cain took a few careful steps toward a couch maybe and tentatively sat down in the middle seat, flinching as he once more put pressure on his ribs, before leaning back in the seat and taking a little bit of pressure off. " Oohhh ho ho hoooo gotta say, I haven't felt pain like this in a looooong time, at least pain like this." He grumbled, closing his eye only to open it a little bit when she approached and spoke of options for healing. " Ah... well I gotta say I ain't exactly looking to, ya know, go through a lot of pain again, so soon.... so maybe slow and steady will win this race?" Cain suggested, shrugging softly and flinching again. " Why must my body betray me soooo" Cain said wiggling his arms in a manner that hurt the least.

Rina nodded as the man chose his method of healing and set the basket down on the armrest beside him. “Slow and steady it is. But uh...I still need to take a look at your skin. Just to make sure nothing has been punctured on the inside.” Rina cleared her throat. “You know internal bleeding and all of that. So um...shirt off. Please.” The young woman felt a warm blush start to creep up her neck at the slightly forward request. It was strange. Rina was in no way shy about such things, but in this particular situation she seemed to be losing her words. As she waited for Cain to see to her request, it dawned on Rina that maybe she was so bashful was because she hadn’t been in this exact spot before. Someone at her door for healing, as if she were a physician. She’d healed people before, of course and had spent some time studying for it in the past, but had never tried to heal something potentially extensive, Oh well, first time for everything. “Depending on the severity of your wound, you might be stuck here for a while. Hope you had nowhere you were planning on going…”

Cain looked over at Rina once more as she spoke about needing to find internal bleeding and that there could be damaged skin and stuff inside. " Pretty sure internal is where my bleeds supposed to be... but I ain't no doctor, so ya got it!" He said, pushing himself into a more upward sitting position before looking down at his clothes and taking it in for a moment. He lifted his left arm and looked at the armor, staring at it and turning his arm a little bit, before attempting to remove it, much to a bit of pain and great discomfort. "You ever look at yourself and wonder why you wear so much clothing that are modular in nature?" He asked with a smile, before grabbing the shoulder part of his armor and pulling it off. A cry of pain and a small flash of light, and Cain held just the shoulder pauldron of his armor, before setting it on the nearest table-like surface. With that part done, he looked back at his torso and tapped the buckle that went across his chest, loosening up the leather armor that covered his upper chest and shoulders. He tried to reach up to grab it, tired to shake it off, and even tried to wiggle out of it before he grumbled and turned around in his seat, shoulders slumped in defeat. " Could... could you possibly help me pull this off? I can't quite do it in this state..." He mumbled, pouting a little bit. " Maybe with the rest of it too... if you don't mind... I can't seem to move as freely as I normally do..." ------------ Tag: Rina Croft

Rina watched Cain struggle to remove the various buckles and fastenings on his armor, restraining the eyeroll that almost came forth from his comment. "You've obviously never had internal bleeding before, otherwise you wouldn't joke." Rina shifted her hands to her hips, before dropping them, and then putting them back on her hips. She wasn't sure what to do. The man looked like he needed help, but how does one casually remove someone else's armor? You don't! She continued to watch him struggle, him complaining about the bulkiness of the armor. "See? This is why I wear clothing that can easily com- nevermind. That's not what I meant." She suddenly felt self-conscious standing there in her pajamas. Rina was trying to wade her way through the mess that her lack of a filter made when Cain yelped in pain and pleaded for her to help him. She sighed and went to gently pull the leather armor off of one arm and then the other. "You should have asked me sooner. Saved us both a great deal of pain." She folded the bolero looking armor in half before setting it to the side. Cain had left a sleeveless shirt that would prove a problem to someone who couldn't lift their arms. Oh he won't like this. Rina gave Cain a sheepish smile before summoning one of her Sai daggers into her palm. "Lucky for you, I'm also a seamstress." Cain Law

" Obviously. I think. Things are a bit hazy after some point." Cain said, stopping for a moment and looking up, as if trying to remember something from his past. " Oh! Wait... no no... that wasn't so internal." He added before returning to his clothing. He shook his head and looked at Rina when she mentioned asking sooner, and he tilted his head. " Well... to be honest... I didn't really think I'd need help undressing, but hey, things happen." Either way, he was glad that she was so willing to assist in removing said clothes in order to help him out. Course, once they were down to just his shirt, Cain sat there and looked Rina as she summoned a weapon and gave him a strange smile. " Soooo... Seamstress... that's a word. Doesn't... have anything to do with being a doctor... or anything to do with causing bodily harm, right?" Cain asked, sliding back a little bit on the couch, trying to act non-nonchalantly. Of course she wouldn't go about stabbing him, where would be the fun in that? It's not like she had him remove... all... his armor... or anything. Suddenly he was feeling pretty naked, shirt non-withstanding. " I'm warning you, I'm a screamer? That doesn't sound right. Um... I'm a bleeder? Uh... I... I'm ambidextrous?" He muttered, as if trying to find something that might stop her from stabby stabbington his bod. " Stop me if I'm getting close." Cain added, in a joking tone. He did not pull back anymore though, and turned his head to the side and closed his eye. Tag: Rina Croft

Rina could feel her IQ dropping the longer the man babbled. She sighed and shut her eyes in annoyance until he finally stopped talking. "No. None of those were remotely close. You know. A seamstress. A tailor. I can mend clothes, okay! I'm basically a jack of all trades. I can do pretty much anything, including SAVING YOUR LIFE, if you would chill for five seconds."Blowing a stray strand of black hair to the side, Rina leveled her gaze at Cain's shirt. "Be still. Don't move." Okay, that was probably a little overkill just to annoy Cain because her hand was always perfectly steady and this was something trivial. In one fail swoop, Rina brought her dagger down to slice his shirt down the middle. "There. Now slide it off like a jacket." Waving her hand to dismiss her dagger into a flash of light, Rina helped Cain slide his arms out. Now she could finally work. Having chest and abdomen exposed helped Rina see the extent of the damage. And it was not looking pretty. "Well. Shit." Cain Law
