| | Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog tails! If ever a boy who liked to play with his toys it was Alexander. His focused attitude often let him get the job done but it also put him in a place of complete neutrality. If not for a fateful meeting he would have perhaps always remained the same. Now as he sleeps he would find himself drawn into another world, woken with a start by a banging noise. Clang Clang Clang!
When his eyes opened he would find himself in his room, but something was off. Outside. There was nothing of the familiarity of Radiant Garden. Instead there were bright flashing lights and billboards with strange shadow looking creatures offering sales on hearts, love, and ways to grow your heart three sizes too big! CLANG CLANG CLANG!
Another ring of the gong, but were Alexander to look out the window it was not a gong but a strange, twisted Gargoyle perched on the railing of the building's fire escape with a heavy washing basin, banging against it with a wrench. It wasn't just any wrench though: it was Alexander's good word wrench. When the creature was spotted it would pull its sharp, toothless maw apart in a wry smile, glowing eyes shining before it would stand on the edge of the banister and spread its wings. Cackling it would dive down into the streets below of the unfamiliar city. It would land on a dumpster in the alley before slowly turning to look up at Alexander, waiting. As if to encourage him it would hold up the wrench and wave it. Shhuu shhuu shhuu....the Gargoyle shuffled and hurried out along the alley. Alexander Sorel

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Mirage Arena Mod ✉ notes: i damn near wrote this whole post in corny 1st person noir style CLANG CLANG CLANG pull my devil trigger He'd been reading too much, is what he would have admitted if he realized he were dreaming. Unfortunately, he did not come to such a conclusion, it probably would have made the following that much easier for him when he realized that his wrench was missing. His wrench. Was missing. This could not stand, never stand, never be. It was ultimately when the clanging sound reached his ears that he groaned, his eyes opening in irritation as he forced himself up, taking a moment to get dressed. It didn't sound like Altima, so he figured someone was making noise. It was only when he slammed his door open that he finally got a look at the outside.
What in the world was this? Radiant Garden was never like this. Shadows advertising heart related produ--Oh ha ha, someone was being real smart, weren't they? For real, this looked like a place where quick hook up couples got drunk and hitched without remembering any of it. It was only when he heard the clanging noise again that he growled, turning around and "Yo, jackass! Do you have any idea what time--" freezing when he saw it was... what even was that? The eyes made him think Heartless, but how had that thing not been gunned down or something? And did it--It had his wrench, his wrench, that he... probably could have bought another if he needed to, but it was the principle of the matter!
It took his wrench, much to his furious protests, and flew down into an alleyway, Alex chasing after it before stopping at the entrance to the alley itself. It was dark, one of the few places the flashing signs didn't get to. "What is this, the Long Goodbye?" He softly muttered to himself as he took a strangely brave step into the darkness. "Although I'm missing the dead drinking buddy and the princess in the sour dress." Really, if he were awake, the idea of rushing into a dark alley with a horrible monster would probably come across more as well, suicidal.
He rubbed his chin. "On second thought, I could do without the drinking buddy, I don't like sharing, but maybe the femme fatale..." And who, Alex? There are bigger things to worry about, like getting your things back from that Gargoyle.
Alex stopped. Wait a second.
Gargoyles were real? | | Landing in the alley the Gargoyle would examine the tool. He would sniff at it before a delighted expression drew upon its twisted features. Dangling, twisted antennae would perk up when it heard the landing stomp of Alexander entering the alley. It would look ahead, only to be spotted. Wings would spread out before it gave a defensive hiss. Tucking its wings the creature dove through the narrow passage until it tumbled into the open street. It was fast, but seemed limited to darting around on all fours as everything in the cityscape seemed an obstacle not worth breaking wings over. Swarms of people moved along, faces difficult to discern, voices a jumbled reverberation of honking cars, ringing cellular devices, and chattering school children. This is what Radiant Garden had once been: a sprawling metropolis full of the hustle and bustle of life. It had enjoyed great prosperity but come the Heartless, come the experiments... The Gargoyle squeezed from the crowds to the street's edge. Looking around it would dive into traffic: colorful headlights dancing off the myriad of reflective street signs neon advertisements.A horn blasts through the air, a warning as to the Gargoyle's intrusion. It jumped up, wings catching a gust of wind before it swung the wrench: slamming it down on eh hood of the vehicle. An eruption of twisted engine and glass flew across the air, but no one had stopped to look, or help. Traffic had come to a standstill with the truck jackknifed in the road. The Emblem Heartless looked back at Alexander before it landed. Looking to the wrench it grinned, cackling before it dove into the doors of a night club. Alexander Sorel

[attr="class","ohlove"] CLANG CLANG CLANG pull my devil trigger Really, the spread wings made for quite the fearsome image as Alexander could only watch. He wasn't really sure he wanted to pick a fight with it now, maybe it was just best to let it have the wrench and that would just be the end of it. He could always just get another one. Fortunately, the gargoyle didn't seem interested in coming after him, and instead retreated. Alex decided, against his better judgement, mind, that he should probably go after the thing before it caused anymore damage. And so he did, traveling through the alley, expecting a mugging that never really came, only to finally come out to the road.
He almost second guessed running after the thing. Really, running out into the middle of traffic in such a bustling city, especially at night, was just asking to be run over and wind up on the pavement or something awful. It wasn't until the gargoyle wailed on the hood of some poor guy's car that he finally decided to go, seeing as traffic had come to a screeching halt. Almost hesitantly, he ran out after the gargoyle, shooting the driver--who he wasn't sure he could even really see--a sympathetic look as he crossed the street, though he made sure to at least look both ways! Always had to be careful when it came to crossing the street, you know!
Alex normally was one to enjoy a good rave. The flashing lights, the dance floor, the energetic atmosphere, but tonight was not the night for such a thing. Really, it was a matter of principle at this point. Could he replace the wrench? Sure, but now the thing with it had been causing way too much trouble to not be taken care of in some form. But he would obviously have to go in, and so he shoved the doors open to see what was inside.
What was the worst that could happen? | | A lot of these places held a significant place in one's memories. Where one was born, or raised, was often associated with smell and sound. The wafting scent of fried peanuts being sold by vendors or the cold breeze that touched the senses reminding one of being on the cusp of spring. The thrumming beasts did to bring back one to the beginning. Overlapping voices calling your name through the beats until it became distorted leaving one to remember just how lost they still were, even as an adult. Louder and louder the beats would drum as one traveled through their memories of a time they had forgotten. Now they were an adult, pushing through these every day events these dull adventures... A dismal adventure indeed. The Gargoyle rushed through the undulating bodies, skipping through flashing lights. With the wrench in hand ts dark body would worm through the throngs of people who had sought only to dance the night away. He seemed to have a goal, but it seemed to have spotted something and slide to a stop. It as another Gargoyle at the door. Around its neck it wore heavy chains of silver around its neck and sunglasses. It gave off the feeling of a Bouncer. When the wrench wielding miscreant stopped the sunglasses wearing Gargoyle let out a shriek and tried to grab his menacing kin. Jumping up the Emblem Heartless would spin around and crack the other across the face with it. The struck Heartless was sent flying before completely dissipating. A distorted flash rolled over the attacking Heartless, like static on a video. It raised its head, looking back at Alexander. Its eyes were the same color as his, but had he noticed that before? The Gargoyle perked up. The dancing bodies were no longer the people that Alex had first seen upon entering, but strange, silver Nobodies writhing and waving their arms as if they had not a care in the world. From their ranks crawled a number of Shadow Heartless. The Gargoyle in question looked to the wrench, than Alex. It took off running, shoulder bashing open the back door. This lead out into another alley, the busy city streets on one side and the silent hollow of the empty park on the other. The Gargoyle rushed toward the park which was separated from the club by a chain link fence. The winged Emblem Heartless took flight and jumped over before running across the empty road toward the park. The park's centerpiece was a large fountain where a stone Gargoyle sat with water pouring from its mouth. Paved walkways were wholly familiar as Radiant Garden was once known for its hanging gardens and expansive water displays controlled by their advancing technology. Here Alex could find flowers and flora native to various worlds, a collection of the Garden's exploratory nature. His target was standing beside the fountain, looking up at the statue. At the bottom a plaque would sit and one it a phrase in foreign letters was written, but Alex would be able to read it if he tried. The epithet read: Here Lies Alexander Sorrel. He never returned from the Darkness.
The rushing water of the fountain would fill the silent park. The Emblem Heartless would pull its arm to its face, black-brimmed glasses pulling up as it appeared to cry. The Wrench in its hand seemed to glow faintly, but perhaps just a trick of the moonlight as everything seemed to maintain a haunting glow to it as if this indeed were a grave. The Heartless looked up to Alexander, its twisted, fang pointed mouth moving. While it spoke no words the man would be able to hear something between his ears. You left me behind. Where did you go? The Heartless inhales and let out a most uproarious howl as it began to smash the fountain with the wrench which seemed to become bigger and bigger as its wings shrank and its body distorted. Tears streamed down its face as it howled in agony and raised the massive wrench over head to swing down over Alex!
