That explosion outside had made that apparent enough, they'd just managed to slip some place a bit more quiet. That still surprised him that the library remained mostly unharmed all this time. Perhaps someone else was using it, or perhaps the Heartless were more erudite than previously assumed? It would still be a mystery. But, they were still two people, and two people against a swarm was difficult. "It's just that once you do, it'll let everything in this castle know we're here." And nothing quite said intruder alert like the floor and ceiling and who knows what else just up and exploding. "Heartless are... problematic. Most mundane barriers, such as walls and doors, don't really stop them, as you saw how they just poofed in outside. So once we do this, we're going to get swarmed very, very quickly, and I will need time." He admitted simply. "I'd be stunned if Ansem had no security measures in place for all the data stored on his computer, and if I damage the hardware by just ripping it out, well, the trip will have been wasted." And well, that would be bad. There were other methods, but he needed to think this through. "Unless you're willing to be bait, anyway. They'll follow the trail of destruction, so if you can drop me off and start blowing the place up elsewhere, that would be great."Not like he made great backup anyway, but it seemed that now Altima had a choice; loud or quiet? Though Altima was definitely the sort who didn't think much of his (admittedly valid) concerns, she was at least polite enough to hear them out... and then reject them completely. Her hand was already laid against the floor, with a warm glow coming to be beneath her palm. "Move quickly, then. You'll know the way out, and I'll be back in front by the time we're done." With that, the 'plan' was in place, even if there were plenty of finer points that should have been discussed before proceeding. Her facemask came down and her hand shook as the port in her palm began focusing aether to form a laser torch. She let it burn into the ground for a moment, whatever hole it made being obscured by the glowing gases, then stood, swung her hand upward and leapt backward into the air. Before dissipating, the laser had marked a clear line along the floor extending from the hole, up along a wall, and almost into the ceiling. It was a flashy display for sure, but there was no way Alex would be able to climb down through a hole so small-
A commotion made itself known from under the floor, a rumbling, rippling sound that repeated, over and over, each instance coming closer to the surface until the space around the breath burst apart, a mix of black and green shooting out in the first of several visible explosions that traced the laser markings all the way over to the wall. Remarkably, they were very well-contained, only damaging the floors and blasting out the precise segment of the wall Altima had aimed for, leaving the books unharmed and the floor decorated with a hole that would be very easy to climb up or down through, thanks to the wide space and chunks of rebar that offered footholds in the partially-disintegrated concrete. Contrary to what one might expect after so many closed-in explosions, none of it was heated or melted. In fact, a touch would reveal them to be cooled down somehow. Alex had his entrance, and judging by the similarly accessible hole in the wall, Altima had her exit as well.
She glanced to him for just a moment before taking her new route, rushing out into the breached corridor, slamming against the wall to leave claw tracks, then shooting off to the side to make as much of a ruckus as possible for when the Heartless began to look for targets.
Apparently, Altima was a lot more eager to choose the 'loud' option.

He stared down the hole. He took a moment to examine the shelves, stuff a few books that seemed interesting into the bag, and then began his climb down. Fortunately, no Heartless on his part. There was that relief at least, and he finally found himself in the basement, staring at the magnificence of Ansem's technology. He grinned. Here he was, best to begin with the software, right? He grinned in marvel as he booted it up, only to come to the need for a password. Normally he'd have broken through but, one good look at the... strangely advanced UI and... "Hell, it's been updated." The elation quickly turned to annoyance. So, that left him having to crack Ansem's computer. Tech Aptitude Roll: 1 Might as well start simple. He shrugged, and typed in his first password; "Uh... password?" Predictably, it was wrong. "Worth a shot..."At least Altima was probably having better results.
Well, maybe. The waterways were still functional at least. Gave her plenty of room to move, well insulated. She could probably go berserk here with little trouble and not kill Alex somewhere else in the building. That was good; at least it would make her role in keeping the Heartless off Alex's back all the easier. Its just that, well, Heartless could be dangerous. As the Defender, surrounded by four Wizards, could probably attest. The beast, meanwhile, wasn't entirely sure just what part of the facility she'd found herself in. She left through the side, that much she recalled, but the rest was a blur of bricks, toppled walls and the dried-up remains of whatever demons tried to block her off directly. When she did find herself in a proper room again, she was surrounded with those Wizard-types. Altima knew the direct approach was the best with them. She hadn't seen much of what they could do, but she knew that magic wasn't the optimal counter to it, whatever it was. With that in mind, she shot to the closest one, snatching it by its hidden neck and pinning it to the opposite wall. With her prey secured, the machinery on her back opened up, and from it spewed not one, not two, but three volleys of white laser missiles.
As she greedily sucked out what gave the Wizard form, those missiles soared high through the air and disappeared into the ceiling, but that was no sign that the danger was gone. In fact, the Defender's fate had already been sealed, because those lasers had merely left for the moment, arcing invisibly through the concrete on their way around, ready to rain back down in a threefold assault once their circuit was made.

1. Again. Right, so maybe it hadn't been the right password, but maybe there was still no security. He shrugged, and typed in his second password; "Uh... guest?" Predictably, it was also wrong. "Oh, Come on."Altima was deinitely having better results. Need to start rolling more than a 1.
Yeah, Altima was definitely having better luck. The Wizard she had grabbed was quickly rendered limp as Heartless really didn't measure up as well against Communion. Really, the only reason it was still alive was because it was such a high ranking Heartless to begin with. As she continued to drain the Heartless, she was hit with a barrage of Firas from the remaining three Wizards. Her body took some damage, but it was quickly repaired by the aether drained from the Wizard. Under normal circumstances, the Defender would be alive. A little banged up, but fine. Light powers are a hell of a drug though, and when thrown at a Heartless, well it's all the worse. The missiles blasted it from behind one by one, as it took double damage from each blow, breaking through its heavy armor and annihilating its meaty defense as it faded into darkness. You had to admit, she could really get some damage done. The Wizards, well, the ones that could move, considering the one in her grip didn't have the physical strength or the ability to teleport out, raised their wands for another attempt. This was going to suck for them. Altima CURRENT THEME: HOLLOW BASTION ~Orchestral Battle Arrange~[/ul][/div][/blockquote] T H E
