In all of Uriel’s travels, the world of Radiant Garden was a name that came up often. Its history seemed to be an almost constant push and pull between light and dark in some way. Apparently, in the not-to-distant past, this place had been taken by the heartless. Then even more bizarre enemies supposedly came into play later. Tales of large libraries chocked full of information are ultimately what drew this curious woman to the world. This time, she would try and get a guide of some kind.
The problem with trying to purchase the services of a guide was that, well, it was a purchase… and she had no money. Back in the crystal kingdoms, she would often make a decent bundle by offering her fortune-telling services. Uriel heaved a small sigh as she pulled a small flask from her jacket. It was a see-through crystalline vial with a few drops of faintly glowing liquid inside. “Not much Myrrh left…” She mused to herself, “I’ve still got that lute…”
Perhaps street performing would be how she’d end up paying for a chance to see this town’s nooks and crannies.
In a few minutes, Uriel had set up a small blanket in the town square. She sat down on it eagerly strumming the instrument. As dulcet tones drifted around her she would scoot a bowl in front of her with her foot… waiting for the first charitable soul.

Rina walked at a slow pace through town. She had awoken late (another night, plagued by nightmares had kept her from sleeping properly) and not wanting to cook for herself, Rina went to track down some food from a vendor. The noise of life and the smells of food wafted from the marketplace as Rina entered the space. The warmth of the feeling of home started to permeate through Rina. A yummy lunch and some fresh air were just what she needed to perk up. The young woman let her eyes glance around the square, trying to decide on what she wanted to eat. As she thought, music filtered into her ears. A sweet tune was being played by a young woman with a lute. The song pulled at Rina’s heart, filling her with a longing that she had never felt before. She wondered closer to the musician noticing that she had a bowl placed in front of her for donations. With a small smile, Rina dug into her pockets and knelt down throwing a few hundred munny into the bowl. “That song…I know it. What is it?”

Only just started playing and already she was making a killing. Growing up in a theatre troupe sure had its advantages. Uriel had spent hours practicing when she was small, it was a great skill to cultivate for when you needed some coin in a pinch. It helped that this woman was particularly generous today.
"Sorry to say the name escapes me, My mother used to play it a lot on our travels..." She reached out a leg and carefully pulled the bowl back with the heel of her foot, "I learned a lot about performing from her and the troupe back in Leuda." Uriel let out a whistle as she counted all the munny in the bowl. Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers.
The music continued to grace the town square, but Uriel wasn't quite willing yet to let the conversation end there just yet. "Do you live here, Miss?" The strumming kept on going, "I'm new in town myself... been looking for a guide to show me around... any suggestions?"

Rina listened to the woman speak as she continued to strum the tune. The dark-haired lady continued to wrack her brain to find a place for the tune, even as slight disappointment fell over her. The musician couldn’t recall the name anymore than Rina could. She sighed softly, and her hands smacked against her legs in defeat. “Oh well. A mystery then.” She smiled politely to the other woman about to say her goodbyes when the stranger asked if Rina lived in town and if she had any suggestions for a guide. Rina had to bite her tongue in order to not automatically volunteer herself. It’s not that Rina wouldn’t want to. She’d love to. She’d be a good guide. But… Rina had so much going on in her mind lately. Too many dark thoughts sifting in her head and too much pain flowing through her body and soul. She didn’t want to bring someone into the middle of all of it. That wouldn’t be right.
On the other hand…Rina loved taking in strays. She had housed more people than she could count on two hands. She loved sharing her home and meeting new people and learning their stories. It healed her heart. Rina forced a smile onto her face and nodded. She’d do it. Maybe this is what she needed. “What about me? My name’s Rina.”

Wow. This had been so much easier than Uriel thought it'd be. First, this stranger drops a good amount of money in her lap, and then she volunteers to give her a tour of the town. Who was Uriel to turn down such a kind offer of charity? "Well, If you're really offering..." She finished up the last few bars of her song and then stowed her lute away, "I'd be glad to have you lead me around!"
Uriel gave an appreciative bow towards Rina before beginning to pack up what was on her corner. She didn't have much to her name it seemed. She dumped the contents of her bowl into the small bag at her belt and stretched out in place. "It's nice to meet you, Rina! I'm Uriel!" with a flourish she would turn back to grab ahold of her new friend's hand and shook it with gusto, "As you can probably tell: I'm a traveler. Since you're my guide, how about you tell me what's the hottest spot in town?"

Rina’s smile remained in place as Uriel packed up her belongings. The young woman seemed to have only the necessities and Rina wondered if she even had everything that she truly did need. Rina made the decision then in there that she would help this stranger with whatever she needed. Rina could already tell by the exuberant handshake and happy introduction that this other woman could be a great friend to Rina and she wanted to be a friend in return. The dark-haired girl clasped her hand around the light haired one’s. “Hi Uriel. It’s nice to meet you in return. And the hottest spot in town?” Rina gestured around the area that the two ladies were standing in the middle of. “This is it. This is the Marketplace, and this is where everyone gathers and does business. Merchants, brick and mortar shops, restaurants, ice cream joints. We have it all right here.” She looked up into Uriel’s face. “Are you looking for anything specific?”

Uriel racked her brain for a moment, "Hmmm... Believe it or not, a library would be nice! I'm looking for some information about dragons across the worlds for, um. Personal reasons." The traveler smiled back at Rina as she scanned the Marketplace, "I could go for ice cream before that though. I've not had anything sweet in ages."
Noticing some of the empty spots in this Bazaar, Uriel couldn't help but think about opening up a Fortune-telling booth. She was also getting very low on Myrrh... Another trip to her homeworld might remedy that, but going back to delve into a ruin again to try and get some was going to be exhausting. There had to be a better way than this. Without realizing it, Uriel had spaced out as her mind pondered this problem. "Sorry! was lost in thought there." She chuckled, "I'll put my faith in my guide to lead me to the most fun!"

Rina’s eyebrows drew together in thought. A library, huh? “Hmm. Well apparently, there’s a huge library out in the castle over there.” Rina pointed over to the castle that always seemed to be in a state of being rebuilt. At the edges of her memory she could remember when the castle was at its finest and people spoke warmly of the people that inhabited it. But now it was still a damaged heap that was being rebuilt to its former glory. “You’d probably have to talk to the Restoration Committee about accessing it though.” Rina placed her arm on her new friend’s shoulder. “I have a small library in my home that you’re more than welcome to browse through. I’ve got some older books that may have what you’re looking for. And as for ice cream, there’s only one place to go. Scrooge’s!”
Rina had begun to walk towards the little corner freezer where the old duck sold the delicious frozen treats. She was nearly there when she noticed Uriel wasn’t behind her. She laughed and went back to tug on the girl’s arm. “Come along, Uriel. Ice cream awaits!”

Uriel frowned and huffed at the mention of a committee. Bureaucracies made things so much messier... but, she was a visitor in this world. The least she could do was follow its rules. At least for now. The pat on her shoulder brought the traveler out of her world. Rina's suggestion of using her own library was kind. Uriel wasn't particularly sure about how much her new friend's trove of knowledge might have had regarding dragons. It couldn't hurt to try at least.
"Thanks! I'll try not to leave the place a mess of the place!" She shot the dark-haired girl a devious smile before she was tugged off towards the promise of frozen treats, "I don't think it's going anywhere!"
Before she knew it, the ice cream was in her hand. Not wanting to disappoint her new friend, Uriel immediately took a bite. She felt her body tense up as soon as the saltiness touch her tongue. Almost as soon as she was ready to complain, the flavor gave way to an incredible sweetness. "Oh... Wow." She gasped in near disbelief, "This is... amazing!"

Rina watched with an amused smile as she watched Uriel’s face go through a myriad of expressions. Rina was sure her own face must have looked like that the first time she has sea-salt ice cream. The first taste of saltiness was always a shock no matter how many times you had it, but the secondary sweetness made up for it. “It’s good, isn’t it? Kinda weird for a treat but you’ll soon be hooked! Come on down this way. My house is not that far.”
Rina guided them away from the ice cream stall and down the gray stone path until they ended up at a cute little cottage, nestled into the corner of the tall walls that surrounded Radiant Garden. She pulled an old-fashioned key from her pocket and unlocked the wooden door which creaked as it swung open.
“Come on in, Uriel. Make yourself at home.”

Uriel enjoyed the ice cream all the way the house. It was amazing how long it was able to keep its shape in this moderate heat. Being tugged along by Rina at this brisk pace gave Uriel some time to admire the architecture as she enjoyed the treat. "Wow... Just how old is this place?" Something about this world seemed to give off an air of -if not age- experience, "If there's a restoration committee I'd have ta guess it must have been through some rough times."
Rina's cottage was definitely cozy looking. It had a thatched roof and everything. "Thanks,Rina!" She chirped as she strolled in the door to get a look at the place, "Do you live alone here?"

Prior to the pair coming through the door, Rina had been thinking about the answer to Uriel’s question. As they crossed the threshold and Rina welcomed the other to her home she also spoke an answer. “I couldn’t tell you an exact age of this place, but… she’s been around for a while. I can feel it whenever I’m outside. It’s like all of the history and pain and light and darkness that has been here come up to me and whisper in my ear. Decades of it. Hell, I’ve lived here off and on for most of my life and I’ve always felt it. And you’re right. It has went through rough times, more than once. But it’s a strong Garden. It always comes back in full bloom.” Rina grew quiet and shuddered as shook off the goosebumps that had risen up on her arm. “I’m sorry… that was probably more of an answer than you were looking for.”Rina cleared her throat and nervously tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. With a small smile she gestured around to her humble home. “And yeah. It’s just me at the moment. Has been for a bit…” She cleared her throat again. “Anyway. The library is right down here. Want me to show you?”

"Don't fret over it... if anything it was a poetic way of answering the question. HAve you written any of the books in these libraries? You sound like you'd be a shoo-in to write stories about this place." She said as she stepped into the cottage and curiously glanced about, "Just as nice inside as it is out!" She chirped in a pleased tone as she began to wander around looking at various bits and bobs. Once Rina reminded Uriel of the library the dragon woman perked up and beamed!
"Lead the way- to knowledge!" She said pointing ahead in some random direction with a fancy flourish of motion only dropping her hand again when she remembered something, "This place isn't too dusty is it? I've sneezed in one library and almost burned down a shelf when I wasn't careful..."

Rina pushed open the heavy, wooden door to her library ushering Uriel inside before stepping in herself. She flipped a switch on the wall and four lamps nestled into the corners of the room lit up with a gentle glow. Rina gestured to the two cushy chairs near two of the lamps and the one behind her workdesk, urging Uriel to have a seat. Not only was this room a library it also doubled as a study. Rina had wasted many a night sitting at that desk slaving away at one task or another. "I've never thought of writing a book. With my story, I'm sure I could. I've filled a couple journals full with spells and ideas, but never with my life or the life of this world. Imagine. Me, a historian." Rina laughed and shook her head, shutting the door behind the pair. "And only the books that haven't been loved on in a while would have dust. I can dust them off for you, if you want." Rina grinned and leaned on the desk. "What are you looking for, Uriel?" Uriel

Uriel took her seat on one of the chairs. These were so much softer than what she was used to. Being on so many journeys didn't always lead to soft seating arrangements. Uriel let her eyes wander around the shelves surrounding her, "Such an amazing collection... Did you say spells? Are you a magician of some kind?" She asked, leaning over the desk with bright and excited eyes.
"Oh! Um... and I was looking for anything about dragons across the worlds!"
