At last, the third member of their little team introduced himself. As Rayne stood straight, she felt something wrap itself around her--Rojo's arm. She was immediately perplexed by this action, unsure how to take it. Is he playing? She pondered. His words came and went as wind, hot with ego and self-absorption. Rayne flashed a friendly smile. "I should love to hear more of your deeds, Lord Rojo~" Rayne cooed sweetly. But the moment she had spoken those words, Zidane busted through the conversation.
"Whoa, look!" Zidane called as he rushed ahead. "Oh, it seems he's found something," Rayne quickly stated, stepping away from Rojo to walk after Zidane with a spring in her step.
When she arrived to where Zidane moved to, a host of doors were waiting for her. She looked to Zidane, watching the movement of his eyes--she knew by now that he was more keen than one would guess from a glance, given his soft, delicate, and youthful appearance. Rayne licked her lips absently, her mind drifting for a few brief moments into all the fun things she'd like to do with him...
When Zidane spoke again, Rayne was pulled back to reality. "Hmm?" She hummed, needing a moment to process. "Oh right, yes, let's try those." She quickly added, then stepped toward the closest door for a brief inspection before quickly throwing it open and peering into the shadows beyond with the light of her blade to illuminate it. Flames roared back toward her from the door--a trap set by the thief, most likely. Rayne didn't bother to move, and the flames rolled over her body. Her armor kept her protected for the most part, and when the flames and smoke subsided, she brushed ashes from her cheek and sighed, her skin seared and hair charred.
"How...irritating." Rayne muttered. Her skin began to return to normal rapidly, the visible burns fading, and her hair as well once the skin was healed to the eye. However, such regeneration took its toll. To heal the body, energy was required, and she only had so much of that to spare. After the few seconds it took for her appearance to regenerate, Rayne groaned at the sight beyond the door. Just a wall with a fire-spewing hole in it... She closed the door.
"Perhaps now it's a touch more clear why I chose to be cautious before." She spoke plainly toward her teammates. ### | Zidane Tribal @redmage | Her "healing" is only stylistic, not actually recovering from damage. ulla Rayne suffered 2 points of damage to her endurance from the booby trap.Endurance: 18/20.

His tail swayed to and fro as he examined the potential paths. Were it him he would have found a pretty obvious place to hide to throw off any potential tailers. Said limb fluffed up as his blue eyes caught wind of a chilling sensation that crawled across his bared skin. He looked back, but the only thing there was Rayne. What was that weird feeling? It was almost as if he was being hunted...? Huh. Shaking his head the fifth appendage would smooth down and lower towards the ground where the end would curl up to keep it from touching the surface below. the limb always managed to hold place mere centimeters off the ground. The woman moved to open the door and set off a trap. Zidane quickly jumped back in surprise. "Ryane!" Of course he would be concerned by his teammate as he had no access to healing spells and hadn't the sense of mine to bring potions. Honestly they were way too expensive in town. The inflation here was insane! "Are you okay?!" He watched in amazement as she seemed to have a latent regeneration ability and would ward off much of the burns in a moment's notice. He sighed in relief. "Maybe opening doors at random isn't a good idea, but there's so many." Zidane turned heel and indeed there was a plethora of passages to choose from. He motioned his hand as he settled them on his hips in thought. This was a lot more complicated. Actually booby trapped huh? "Well we can waste time disarming any other traps or we can trip them all and put him on edge. We can't spend time scouring each room for signs of him. When it gets night time a lot of these monsters'll probably wake up." MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

| | @redmage has failed to post in the three allotted days! Move it along fellas!
It wasn't long until their time wasting had gotten the better of them. The sun had set and the nest of monsters began to stir. Behind a few shut doors were the writhing figures of Roses: repugnant Malboro like plant fiends that fed on the flesh of other living creatures. It soon became clear that their opponent simply did not move about during the night where roving beasts found blind prey easiest to find. The trapped door was now out of the question, but a door near and by seemed to be free of the congesting twist and array of vines that seemed to consume all the rest, as if this was a regularly traversed path....
You have three days to post between one another! If the days are passed, you will be skipped and eventually removed from the mission! Post Order: @rayne Zidane Tribal @redmage and meow, the missionmod! | |

After a few quiet moments, Rayne's ears tickled with the sounds of something weaving across the ground at the other side of the nearest door. She glanced to Zidane for a brief moment, then to the other entrances nearby. One of them was quite clearly used more frequently than the others. Rayne stepped toward it and reached her hand forward to open it. When the door clicked and swung open, she found a passageway down on the other side with stone stairs carved by hand.
"If I had to guess, I'd say this is our best bet, then." Rayne spoke, deciding not to waste anymore time. The monsters had already come out to play, and she had no intention of risking the mission playing with them. Not right now anyway... Each of her steps left a quiet click in the air as her metal heel tapped down upon the stone steps, and the glow of her sword guided Rayne safely forward. Once she had reached the bottom, she heard a sound come from off to the left of the new area she had entered. Footsteps! Rayne quickly turned her gaze in that direction, only for the footsteps to turn into a mad sprint. Whomever it was, they were just outside the range of the light from Rayne's sword. And they were moving away to boot. Rayne smiled with an almost frightening amount of excitement. "I believe we've caught the trail of our little thief," she spoke with a pleasant, motherly hum.
As she started in a sprint of her own after them, she made it no more than 10 steps before her feet pushed down into the stone and she came to a dead stop. Sliding across the stone between her and the fleeing footsteps was a myriad of thick vines, alive it would seem. Rayne pointed her blade to the side to spot a large mouth of jagged teeth, her nose picking up the faint-yet-putrid smells wafting from within it. A malboro rose up into the light from Rayne's blade, alongside two smaller plant-monsters Rayne was unfamiliar with. "This is certainly going to be interesting." Rayne spoke without breaking her smile. ulla

Zidane was just a bit concerned for their 'leader' and he was quite known for questioning authority. His arms folded behind his head as the woman seemed ever more driven by her little run in. Kinda scary, but healers sure did have a lot of power over such things. He's seen them bring folk from the brink of death! He's been one himself on a few occasions. Grinning he followed along at a more even pace than the charging warrior. Maybe she was a Paladin? That healing skill sure seemed similar to Beatrix's skills. No matter. Zidane turned the corner where Rayne had taken posture. He jumped back in surprise. "Whoa! That's a Morbol!" The thief quickly drew his blades, quick to the up take. "I mean if there's no other way around..." How did that guy get through here any way?! @rayne @redmage MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Rayne stared into the mouth of the monster for a few moments, bracing for battle until she heard Zidane behind her; "Whoa! That's a Morbol!" he exclaimed. Rayne turned her eyes back to him as a vine tendril whipped toward her. "A Mor-what?" Rayne asked as her free hand reached out and caught the vine, her eyes not even needing to glance toward it to do so. It was so loud with all of the leaves whipping around on it through the air, it made it too easy to track. With her blade, she deftly swung it to slice through the tendril, cutting it clean from the monster master that commanded it.
Enraged, the creatures emerged from the shadows and into the light of Rayne's sword, flying into a frenzy. Rayne rolled away as a host of rocks came flying in toward her and her companion(s), using the vine she still held as a whip to swipe away any stones that came directly at her. They were being thrown by the monsters, which were quickly closing the gap. Their toothy maws stunk of rotting corpses and death, which sent shivers of pleasure up and down Rayne's spine. The large one drew upon Rayne first and whipped a host of vines at her in an attempt to grapple her. She used her blade to cleave as many of them as she could, then shouted as some managed to wrap around her. "Zidane! I'll keep the big one distracted if you can draw the small ones off!" Rayne spoke. She was more than capable of holding off a beast as simple as this, even as the vines began to lift her up from the ground, wrapping further and further around her. She just needed to wait for the right moment to strike... ulla
