The two chipmunks began jumping up and down with complete excitement. As Dale grabbed the microphone, the day had just reached lunchtime, but there was still a lot of action to come. The crowd had begun to grow during the last round, and a series of small bleachers around the plaza had filled completely.
"Wow! What a first round, Chip!"
"Yeah, let's get right to the second round!"
"All right! First up is-!"
Posting Order @generalbeatrix, Zidane Tribal, Nil, then @vivi
This round ends on October 7th. Remember only 48 hours to post!

He hadn't expected Vivi and himself to pull out of that last fight with Waltz rampaging like he was. The rogue had felt out of sorts continuing the fight with Vivi knocked out during the last leg of it, but it seemed it had been enough to rally the crowds to their side! While waiting for their next round they'd get a bit of a reprieve, but moreover a chance to breathe. Zidane wondered if Waltz was okay. Sure he had this one minded focus of annihilating everything, but mostly just them. They did stand in the way of his mission after all. But the rogue would be damned if he didn't try to get through to him. Something about him at the end of that fight -- he was lost. Zidane was able to sharpen his blades and get a few stretches in before the next rounds were set up. He wore a bandage over his cheek from where Rina's dagger had met its mark and his torso had been wrapped up. He was no worse for the wear.
Hearing everything was ready Zidane tossed on his shirt, tucking it into the waist of his pants, before sliding into his vest. "Come on Vivi!" He rushed out of the medical tent, pressing forward as if a fire had been lit under his tail.
The boy was usually not one for these sorts of events. He found them a bit more effort than they were worth, but having been far from home for as long as he could recall his bumping into Vivi had put a spring in his step and burned raised his hopes! It was a step closer to finding out what the hell had even happened. The rogue grinned wide as he pulled his daggers onto his hips, the sheath doing little to slow his steps as they danced in tandem to his strides. The rogue jumped out into the arena and came to a slide as he looked up to the name boards, his tail dancing to the wild beat of his heart.
It was at that moment a look of doom fell over his face, as if he were suddenly afflicted with a churning stomach, twisting in knots. "No way...." He had recognized the second name nigh instantly, but no no ! It wasn't possible. Way too convenient! His head turned to his opponents. "It has to be someone with a similar name righ--ah shit." His hopes and dreams were dashed within a moment of exhaling his half-recognized doubts.
He had drawn his blades as he read the names across but upon seeing the more than familiar forms he had nearly let his blades slip from his gloved fingers. He looked to the side, eyes curtained by his blonde bangs. Well -- well -- shit, wasn't this weird. He had half a mind to swing on his heel and dip the heck out, but that would have left Vivi on his own, though that wasn't saying the little guy wouldn't of had the sense to flee with him. No, no! He had to face this! he shook his head, his internal shuffling visible on that expressive face of his.
And how red were those cheeks as he looked up trying to play with that air of coolness he was known for. "Piece of cake!" He twirled his blades, a display of his pride of showmanship, but his tail was in knots! MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. After having wound up in Traverse Town and making his first friends ever, it wasn't long before Nil learned that there were bunches of other worlds out there, dozens even! And when he learned that, well, how could he not explore? Plus the further he could get away from his Master's home, the better. Were they even looking for him? And if they were, how would they even find him? He doubted that there was much to be worried about but it still dwelt at the back of his mind even with how beautiful this place was! Nil had never seen anything like it! Well, okay, that's not hard to say when you spent ninety-nine percent of your life inside, but still. This place really was amazing for the berobed and bemasked behemoth. There were creatures with animal features walking around, there was a happy feel to the air, and it even seemed like some sort of celebration was going on! Nil loved parties. That is, he loved the idea of parties. The little he read about them—their cakes and presents and party games—all sounded like a blast! Unlike Traverse Town, Nil's presence and attire got more than a few glances from confused passers by. Most everyone here was wearing clothes that fit the atmosphere, happy peppy things. But Nil still wore the same black robe he had taken during his flight from the lab. It made him more than a little bit nervous though. No one was going to do anything, right? It seemed not, because despite the odd looks, everyone here seemed to be quite friendly! Directing the robed stranger towards the epicenter of the festivities. Apparently there was some sort of 'Birthday Bash' going on! That sounded like an amazing birthday party if he ever heard of one. Nil quite eagerly hurried over, asking around a few times as he took wrong turns and loops around the town...who knew getting around on your own could be so difficult? By the time he had finally found the sign up booth, the first round had already begun...Whatever that meant. Why did a birthday party have rounds? Or a sign up booth? Did people have to schedule their parties in advance and have people sign up for em? Nil wasn't familiar enough to argue with it, and signed his name down. Those as the booth let him know he'd be called if they needed a backup, but as it stood, the slots were filled. To pass the time while he waited, Nil meandered around the town, admiring the scenery and the pleasant attitudes of the people. Not that Traverse Town was unfriendly, but it seemed like people kept more to their own out there. A little 'Hello' seemed to about all you needed to put a smile on someone's face here though. Off in the distance, back towards the parties, Nil could almost make out the sounds of explosions or something...Oh! Fireworks! Parties had fireworks too right? How cool these parties sounded! By the time Nil finally wandered back around towards the booth, it was just about noon. Good timing too, because not a moment after he showed back up he was being rushed to the party! Seems a slot had opened up between rounds and they needed a backup fighter!...Wait...Fighter?! Wasn't this supposed to be a party? Nil explained to the man the mix up. The booth keeper explained that, no. It wasn't a party, it was a friendly tournament of combat. Underneath his hood his ears drooped. He had never fought a day in his life! Sure, his Master ran him through some tests where he like. Hit things or threw ice at them but... Truthfully Nil wanted to back out, he never fought, had never been in a tournament, what if he got hurt? Or worse, what if he hurt someone? But at the same time, he had signed up, he had agreed to fill a spot! How could he let down whoever his partner was going to be and leave them in some sort of one on two thing. Reluctant though he was, Nil declined backing out, and made his way into the arena. His heart was already pounding at his chest like it would jump out and run off on its own any second. But then it stopped...Er. Not his heart. The pounding! It was replaced with surprise instead of fear. "Zidane! Wow, I didn't expect to see you here!" Nil excitedly waved across the way to his monkey-tailed friend. What are the odds of running into him here at this par...wait right. Not a party. Oh no. That meant he was going to have to fight him?! Oh gosh this won't end well. Now he was more nervous than before. Hopefully his partner was used to having to pick up slack. Or at the very least wouldn't be angry they were stuck with dead weight practically... MADE BY VEL OF GS

Some time after the unconscious boy was collected from the arena, he did finally open his eyes but he spoke not a word. Vivi didn't seem to care who'd dragged him off, or where he was really. He remembered everything and for some reason he was just...just...sad. Even this medical tent was wobbly like the rest of this Disney town. Its whimsy brought him joy only hours ago and was pretty much the whole reason he'd even come back. He signed up for the tournament thinking it would be fun but maybe he'd been wrong. During the magic show the Black Waltz didn't try to kill him and Vivi thought for sure that he might. Maybe the Waltz didn't even start out that way. Maybe he just hated Vivi that much that as they fought and Vivi wasn't just rolling over because Zidane would have never let him, the Black Waltz got angry. Maybe they both really were just...weapons and anger was their trigger afterall.
Even as he sat there in the medical tent, being fussed over to check for injuries and met with confused looks when his hat would not come off, Vivi was just sort of absent. Zidane seemed chipper and was trying his usual peppy attitude and talk and Vivi just kinda slowly nodded along to whatever was said. Was he really so hated by the Waltz...and...so easily controlled? He could just be turned to fight his friends whenever someone wanted to use him as the weapon he'd been created to be?
Come on Vivi.
He heard Zidane's voice prompt him. Fully cured and at least physically functional, Vivi hopped off the little bench he was seated on. He ran his gloved hands over his robe to smooth it down a bit and he adjusted his lopsided hat before he waddled off after Zidane. He had to jog just to stand a chance of keeping anywhere near him in the crowds here. Zidane made it to the arena and made his way on stage in a very flashy manner. Vivi just tried to reign in his thoughts as he waddled after his friend whom he couldn't help noticing seemed very preoccupied with the names on display, their opponents. Uh oh. Curious, Vivi looked over. OH! Uncertain, Vivi tugged at Zidane's pant leg a few times to get his attention. "Sh, shouldn't the general be with the princess?" Vivi asked, clear concern in his voice and falling over his face.
The other one, someone Vivi didn't recognize did apparently know Zidane. Vivi blinked in his confusion staring at the strange...person as he greeted Zidane. Vivi didn't bother asking the obvious questions about this new person. It was often that Vivi found out what was happening just by being right next to Zidane and besides, he himself managed to meet a few new faces on his travels too. He was actually quite surprised that he never ran into Dieter or Roxas here.

Strange new worlds and the war within them. It had been a long time since Beatrix had felt actual pressure during a fight. But the first round of this tournament had proven a single fact; she was not omnipotent in her skills and battle prowess. It was a humbling notion, welcomed in her heart like an old friend come to visit. She always strove to better herself and improve her craft and where better than a tournament that brought together some of the best of each world? James and Mogrid had put up more than a fight; they had battled practically to a standstill against the team of Beatrix and Sora. It had been a frenzy of humming magic and ringing metal that probably looked more like wild beasts tearing at offered meat. And when the gargantuan goddess had appeared and had begun raining down fire and destruction... it had been a fight worth remembering.
It seemed Mogrid and Beatrix had come out of the match with the least amount of damage. Sora had been hit hard several times and had apparently lost consciousness near the end. The other opponent, James, had put everything on the line with one final attack and then promptly passed out from exhaustion. It was right around then that the end of the match had been signaled, leaving them all in a pained and tired blur. But it had seemed that the effort on Beatrix and Sora's part had swayed the audience and the judges their way, as they were announced as the victors. Unfortunately it came at a cost; Sora was deemed unresponsive and incapable of continuing, leaving her partner-less. As she sat in the infirmary, they informed her that they did have someone on reserve something like this happened. She nodded softly, understanding perfectly. It was understandable, if not unfortunate. She had barely gotten to know Sora, having only met him on the battlefield, but he seemed like someone worth talking with further. She would have to track him down as soon as this tournament was over.
In the meantime, she had a second match to attend. She drew her sword up from its resting place against the mattress and slid it into her sheath, rising to her feet and walking out of the tent. She shielded her eye as she walked out into the daylight, her pupil dilating for only a moment to adjust before she caught sight of the figures already in the arena. Her partner, or who she assumed was her partner, was covered in a dark cloak and obscured from view. But he or she wasn't the most interesting part of the scene.
No, it was her opponents and she recognized them immediately. As she walked onto the stage, she took her place beside the cloaked man, her singular gaze focused on the pair in front of her. To the young lad with the worn hat and big, bright eyes, she smiled and gave him a gentle bow. "Master Vivi. I'm pleased to see you again." Despite all their history, she had come to respect the mage's power and humbleness in almost everyday life. Her gaze sharpened immensely as it flicked over to Zidane. "Zidane. I was wondering when I would... run into you again." It was evident that the events of their last encounter had not left him in her good graces. No, not even a little bit.
She turned to face her partner, offering her hand out. "General Beatrix of the Alexandrian army. Thank you for stepping in to help me out in this match." Whoever it was, they had done her a solid favor. While the last time she had faced the thief and the mage had been quite one-sided, that was years ago. And far before the pair had gone up against Kuja. No, this would not be as easy as it had once been. But that certainly wasn't a bad thing; in fact, she was quite excited to see what Zidane and Vivi had to offer.

It was in that moment Zidane felt his spirit leave him. It was something he had heard Cinna talk about, Marcus too, but he thought it was bullshit. Once in a while a situation would come to face you and in that moment you would feel a nostalgic fear, your body telling you that you're about to do something stupid. His knees tingled and he suddenly felt like he had to take a huge dump. But he was never afraid! No... he wasn't because he always had the hope he could come out of a situation at least still breathing. Hope was one of his redeeming qualities, and of those he had so few... At least that's what Amarant or Steiner would tell you. Zidane was selfless, compassionate and, if nothing else, a loyal friend. But he was also a miscreant, a mischief-maker and an overall fool that enjoyed getting a rise out of others even if that sometimes meant getting on their bad side for a little while. He's left the arena with a few good welts on his arm and not from a fight! But he wasn't fighting an insulted girl, or pissed off drunk. He was facing Beatrix, the women of fell a hundred men. The woman who tamed Steiner for god's sake! Yeah, Zidane definitely felt he was way out of his league at this point despite facing dragons, gods and ...behemoths. His eyes drifted to Nil as he smiled awkwardly, waving his hand at his buddy."Man, you got the blunt end of the stick there buddy..." He turned to Vivi, dropping to his level and tried to put his hands on the mage's shoulders. "Alright, nothing to worry about, right?" The Rogue seemed as upbeat as ever. "But...if something happens Vivi, you and Mikoto can get half my shit. Kuja can't have any of my costumes!" He nodded to the little mage before pushing to his feet and rolling his shoulders.Right he just had to rethink his course. Besides she still couldn't be mad about th--she was still mad. He sulked, slumping forward a bit as his tail dropped, nearly touching ground. Gripping his daggers he regained his composure. Vivi was here with him, he had to put on a brave face for the little guy, plus Nil was here too! He couldn't look like some coward who didn't face his mistakes. But this was a really big mistake. Oh man, why did she have to be on the other side of that wall?! Was he being punished for his wandering eyes?! If he could come out this fight at least standing he swore to Ramuh that he wouldn't let it happen ever again!Though he did have the devil's luck. There was no telling who would answer his prayers this time around."I could say I'm sorry, but... guess I'll just have to dance and really make it up to ya!" She was Beatrix. Some paltry apology wouldn't do. "Let's go! Vivi, I'm counting on you!" And just like that, Zidane was out of the gates!
Over the years he had gotten much stronger. His encounters, partings and facing that darkness in his own heart. He'd met friends and enemies, none of which he would never forget for being an important part of his life. It wouldn't show much justice to Beatrix or Nil if he tucked tail and ran because this tournament was about fun and he wanted Vivi ... to have fun. The fight with Waltz was still fresh in his bones, the injuries clear by his bandaged face and the wraps of swathing peaking from the cuffs of his gloves. Vivi deserved to have a good time in the Birthday Bash! With a speed comparable to a bat out of hell the rouge shot forward with his Air Dash, straight for Beatrix. His bright, crystal blue eyes would meet with her one gem.
His expression was serious, but that quickly dissolved when that all too familiar coy smirk returned, the one that made Dagger's heart a flutter whenever they came face to face. "You know me Beatrix." He exhaled as his weight shifted, back turning while he was mid air. "I'm sorry Bea, Nil..." He had not meant to apologize for his next action, but for one that a foolish boy did for the sake of a laugh.Such a show of speed and acrobatics! While it seemed to have taken the longest of time in the eyes of a warrior, it was but a split second in the time of his kicking off the ground! He launched toward Beatrix in a flash, using the momentum to spin around and lash out his tail in an attempt to Steal her blade in motion to toss it out of her immediate reach! While still in the air he took the chance! Back to the maiden of Blades and the Beast of the Mask... He clutched both his blades, shooting to slash upward in a spiraling attack, like a bladed top making strike for the knight not once, but thrice over before he landed on the ground. The force of the Vortex would have struck outward to hit both Beatrix and Nil were they to have remained close enough. When he landed there was naught but dust in the air. He was low to the ground and his blades held cross his face in a defensive 'X' stance. Mage Masher: Mage Mashers live up to their namesake and have the chance to inflict the Silence status on casters, disabling their ability to cast magic for a one post duration. This is a passive ability and has a 10% (above 90 on a d100 roll) chance of inflicting silence when the blades strike an enemy.Jump Boost: Raises Zidane's normal, vertical jump from 4m (15ft) to 6m (20ft) when not in trance. [Passive]Air Dash - 1 Cooldown When facing an enemy the thief can push from the ground to the air in a high-speed Dash toward the target. This ability only works if the thief is on the ground. This ability can only target an enemy up to 3m (10ft) away. This ability does no damage and only draws the thief closer to their enemy, bringing him to a close quarter position.Steal - 1 Cooldown Using his sneaky and speedy nature he attempts to steal his enemy's weapon. This action induces the Disable effect, making enemies unable to use their weapon's skills or abilities for a turn until the weapon is retrieved. Vortex - 3 Cooldown This attack can only be used midair. An upward spiraling attack that slashes at opponent(s) for light damage, than strikes multiple (3) times to knock them back. This attack can be chained to Booster 8 as a combo finisher. It can be used with either blade archetype (Mage Mashers or The Ogre). This attack strikes all surrounding foes, doing area effecting damage MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Today was proving to be a mini reunion in and of itself as Nil got to see just who he was partnering with. The meeting hadn't been terribly long, but after the...introduction thanks to Zidane, it was hard to forget the woman! "Miss Beatrix, you're here too? It's nice to see you again! We met back in Traverse Town I was with Zidane when he...well I mean you know, you were there!" they chuckled awkwardly as they shook Beatrix's hand. "A-anyway, happy to help! But I'm not sure just how much help I'll be. I've got no uhm...What do you call it? Practical combat experience? I'll do my best to not be in the way though!" Giving a thumbs up, Nil turned to face his opponents...Wow, what a weird thing to think of. It was strange that people turned to combat for fun and excitement. Now, Nil may not be the most experience traveler in the world, but it didn't take a world weary warrior to feel the overwhelming existential dread the seemed to have struck Zidane like a tidal wave. You could almost see the exact moment where his heart dropped from his chest to the soles of his shoes. Was Beatrix that terrifying? She seemed nice enough, but the behemoth knew so little about their history together, maybe it was justified fear? Zidane's partner, Vivi was it? He on the other seemed to be more concerned than afraid. Maybe they were kind of like him. Not reaaaaallly wanting to be fighting, but too nice to say no? Nil would politely wave in greeting to the black mage as well. Perhaps after the fight was done, Zidane could introduce the two of them! Speak of the devil though, it seemed that the thief's fear didn't keep him rooted in place for long! Almost as fast as Nil could blink, Zidane had closed the gap between the two groups. "Woah..." how could he not be impressed by that? He was all like, nyyoooom! Nil watched as the monkey-tailed young man would attempt to disarm Beatrix, leaving himself unprepared for oncoming onslaught. When the first strike scraped across his mask, Nil instinctively threw up his right arm to block the next. The loud grating sound of metal on metal filled the air in that brief moment and in the next Nil was knocked back end over end from the force, skidding a few feet. Oh, okay. S-so actual fighting fighting. Not...okay. Yeah. Keep it cool Nil, don't panic in front of your friends, you've got this! It's all for fun. SHNK! A mere few inches above his head, Beatrix's blade stabbed into the ground. Looks like Zidane's tail gambit paid off. The behemoth scrambled up to his feet, heart pounding in his chest. He knew that he might need a mane trim, but that was too close of a shave! "Miss Beatrix, here!" Nil pulled the blade out from the ground and tossed it to the knight as he rushed back over to the melee. It didn't seem right to hit a friend, but it was just a game right. A dangerous, potentially painful game, but a game none the less. Once Beatrix's blade was safely back in her hands, Nil hurried over to where Zidane had landed. Staying low as well as he dashed towards Zidane, Nil would hop up at the last second and aim to strike down towards him with a viscous claw attack. ________________ One strike of Vortex lands on Nil, thanks to blocking. Silence Chance Roll: 0krVbnDq1-100Thick Hide: A behemoth's naturally thick hide leaves physical blows weaker than normal. Physical blows that land against them have their damage category reduced by one step (Minor to None, Average to Minor, Heavy to Average, Massive to Heavy). However if the physical attack deals Piercing damage it bypasses the defense all together. If an attack of Heavy damage or above hits, its damage is reduced as normal, but 'shatters' the defense and puts the ability into a cooldown period before it reactivates, leaving them vulnerable to attacks as normal. [Passive] Action 1: Block: Nil blocks the second strike of Vortex after the first misses hitting him by inches. Knocking him back in the process. Action 2: Return: Nil spends an action to return Beatrix's blade to her after it nearly scalps him thanks to Zidane's Steal. Action 3: Devil Claw At Zidane: Nil rushes in to Zidane in an attempt to strike at him with [Devil Claw]: Lash out with blade or claws, dealing average Non-Elemental Physical damage and dispelling any Reflect spell on the target. Cooldown: 2 Posts. MADE BY VEL OF GS 1-100

When General Beatrix arrived in the arena she bowed to him greeting him first! Bewildered he did a sort of awkward bend back at her before having to adjust his hat because it slumped over in the front. ”Pleased to see y, you too.” he only just managed to find his voice. Politeness was important, right? She was the general of Alexandria after all and still possibly the most powerful woman in all of Gaia. Vivi’d fought against her before…and she could have killed him. Easily. Worry was beginning to set in right about the time that Zidane clapped his fingers over Vivi’s shoulders and clarified that there was nothing to worry about. If the boy could have paled, he would have.
But then Zidane started talking about how Vivi could split half of his…his…stuff with Mikoto. ”Oh…” Vivi said. ”Wait…What?!” He whipped his head to the side trying to decide if Zidane was serious or not. The other...person…gave Vivi a friendly wave before he got swept up in conversation as well. Apparently all they all three knew about eachother from something that happened in Traverse Town…Hey! Vivi knew where that was! But that was about as far as he could follow as he was turning his head in time to each person speaking gathering that there were a few subtle adult nuances that he really didn’t understand. Zidane tended to make girls mad for some reason. Vivi concluded that he must have made the General mad. As for the ‘Nil’ person, Vivi had absolutely no idea. All he could really conclude was that the three of them knew each other and the circumstances were weird…or something.
Uncomfortable and completely lost, Vivi was already backing away from the adults. By now he knew Zidane pretty well. Well enough to know not to be anywhere near him when those daggers started flying. Sure enough, Zidane started the fight at lightning speeds, so that’s what Vivi started with too ready to help out his favorite person in the world at a moment’s notice if he needed to. Vivi noticed that the Nil person seemed pretty uncertain and he was making it appoint to make sure Miss Beatrix kept her sword so the mage decided that it was best to try to stop him. His coiled Oak staff rose into the air and the there was a brief flash before a Thundara spell went right down toward Nil! But the small mage wasn’t done, he hurled a large chunk of a Blizzard spell at Miss Beatrix and a small Fire ball right after then was left blinking in the after math just to see where everyone even was and hope that he was far away enough.

Strange new worlds and the war within them. General Beatrix was surprised to discover that her new partner had been Zidane’s partner in crime from Twilight Town, Nil. The anthropomorphic being greeted her with kindness, though he went about an attempt to re-jog her memory of their former meeting. “That I was,” she said with a smile, giving the behemoth a gentle shake of the hand. He explained that while he was elated to offer her backup, he didn’t seem to have much combat experience. Curious, considering he had signed up for a combative tournament. Perhaps he wished it would give him a more gentle exposure in comparison to fighting monsters and creatures of the dark? Not a bad assessment – plus it would give him an idea of how wide-ranging combat truly was. “Do not fret, Nil; I am sure you will provide much more than simple background support. The best means of experiencing combat is in a monitored battle, especially among people you know,” she said, gesturing towards herself and then to Zidane across from them.
Beatrix certainly didn’t expect Zidane to come right out with an apology for everything that had happened between them in Twilight Town. His assumptions on the matter were correct, though his statement of dancing as a make of settling the debt was… childish, at best. Yet that was Zidane; always surrounded in an aura of boyish charm. She couldn’t fault him for his technique, when it truly was one that had gotten him to this point thus far. He’d survived countless offensives in his life – a number of those coming even from her.
And just like he had in the past, he took the initiative to begin the combat. While Nil was busy admiring the speed in which Zidane zoomed across the battlefield to their positions, the General kept her gaze steady on him. Whether she was impressed with his upgraded speed or not, never showed – the singular cobalt globe never wavered for even a second. Her arm snapped down to grab Save the Queen, ready to unsheathe it and counter his first attack. But rather than a simple attack, he went for a two-fold assault; his tail, the extra appendage that always seemed to bob happily behind him, wrapped around her weapon and tugged it loose from her sheath. Her hand found nothing but air yet she wasn’t given the opportunity to look for the stolen weapon’s location as the master thief unleashed a swinging strike that grabbed hold of the air and molded it into a miniature cyclone. Her armored top screeched out loudly along with the sound of fabric tearing, as Zidane’s dagger struck true on its first hit. Her arms came up in front of her to block any further slices but not before the intensity knocked her back, the heels of her combat boots sliding along the smooth stone without hindrance. Her right gauntlet took the brunt of the secondary and third attacks, giving her the benefit of not receiving any more damage on her fashion – yet.
Her eye snapped to Nil as he called out to her, her partner having almost received a sharp haircut at the benefit of her smuggled sword. She reached out as it came her way, her right arm stretching across her body. It left her defense wide open for Vivi to connect with his two magical attacks. The spray of frost wrapped around the right side of her body and slowed her movements and then was instantly destroyed by the fireball following it, detonating in a small puff of flames and dark smoke. But through it cut her sword, dispelling the smoke and entrails of flame and giving her perfect vision of the small black mage. Her right side still sparkled lightly from the frost fractals clinging to her duster, set right beside scorch marks from the infernal attack that chased it. “You’ve grown stronger, Master Vivi. I am impressed,” she commended him with a gentle nod. “As such, I will fight you with full vigor to compliment your development.”
As the words left her mouth, she charged forward, closing the gap between them with exceptional speed – even if it didn’t rival Zidane’s near-teleport from moments ago. As she came to a stop before him, he would be able to hear the crackle of the lightning that had coated her blade. Once she was upon him, she swung her blade horizontally, looking to smash it against his side and electrocute him with the powerful Thunder Slash. She whipped the blade back and swung it from the opposing side at a vertical angle, wanting to knock him down onto the ground.

Shit! He was in a pickle. His blade hit a most unexpected surface, the grating squeal of metal hitting metal had pinged the rogue from head to tail, the aforementioned appendage fluffing up at the chilling feeling of his teeth rattling in his mouth. A strong curse slid under his breathe as he stumbled back, falling into his cross bladed stance. That arm! That shitty arm! "Damn it Nil!" He forgot! He turned his head and spat out the bit of blood. he had pressed down on his tongue to stop the vibrations and had done so much to hard as the bone chilling rumble rattled down his form. "W-whoa!" He pulled his arms up over his face as the thunder spell flashed down onto the Behemoth. His tail had smoothed out. During his stumble Nil had retrieved the blade for Beatrix and he was faced with a wide open can of ass whooping. His eyes went wide as the Behemoth swung down at him the rogue pulling the twin blades up to block the down coming claw. He was ready this time, the ringing bell of his metal claws did less to catch his senses. He was pushed back a bit by the big guy's force. He was really impressed with Nil's strength and Vivi's assault on the Knight...wait. "Fu--" But his words were censored by the aggressive bolt of lightning rippling from the gleaming weapon that guarded the life of his beloved. He saw her going for Vivi! The thief's eyes went wide as the blade drawn over the little mage. Brows would furrow as he whipped back with Reverse Air Dash he made way to place himself between Vivi and Beatrix. His hand snapped up, the gloved hand reaching to grab the coming blade, taking a good jolt into his limb. He would manage to deposit both his blades in the ground at his side, pierced into the soils. He would, once again make attempt to snap the blade from her hand, knowing well what she could do with this. He would Mug the General of her prized blade, or at least try, which would be his attempt to boost the weapon and discard it followed by a jabbing strike towards her chest in a move to wind her. Armor or no Zidane was strong. His punches could clear a full grown man to the ground in a single strike. The motion was smooth and when he had made his dash to relieve her of her offensive pride his hands slid over the blades as he ducked down into a posture that indicated he was about to charge, but he did not. Instead he slid the blades from the trodden earth, finger tips wrapping around the leather bound. He grinned. The cheeky bastard. His sapphire eye glanced toward Nil."You're tough big guy, keep it up. I wanna see you really go all out." He praised before offering a thumbs up. "Let 'er rip Vivi!" The rogue called out to his partner, the little mage knowing well how their fights tended to pan out.Vivi was smart and Zidane was no slouch either, despite popular belief. He was doing what he was supposed to do and protect his little brother from the front lines. I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Battlefield awareness wasn't something that the behemoth hard learned yet. His focus was so turned to Zidane that he hadn't even noticed the lightning bolting down towards him until the last moment. The spell rang his ears with the loud crackling of ionized air as it struck his horns. "Yipe!" The lightning surged and arced between the two for a brief second before being attracted to his arm which served to ground the electricity much to Nil's surprise. The behemoth breathed a sigh of relief, at least he managed to get the blade back to Beatrix. He was the weak link here, he knew it, and it seemed that Vivi knew it too. His attack on Zidane didn't go quite as planned after that, the Thundara distracting him and the thief blocking his claws with a resounding clang. Not nearly as bad as that horrible grating sound, but boy would his ears be ringing for a while. At least he managed to keep him distracted!...Okay maybe not distracted enough. As his claws slid off Zidane's blade and hit the ground, Nil watched as they zipped back in an attempt to not only block Beatrix's attack, but to disarm her again it seemed. He hoped that trick wouldn't work twice, but he couldn't just run around playing fetch the whole time, where was the fun in that? And this was actually getting really exciting! Nil hadn't ever felt a rush quite like this, his heart was pounding but it wasn't from fear this time. Behind his mask Nil grinned, this was a thrill! Nil watched for a moment, observing. Even to someone like him it was obvious that all three of the others on the field were worlds away more experienced than he was...But Zidane wanted to see him go all out? He'd do his best. Still on all fours, his eyes dilated. That golden stare locked onto Zidane again, like a tiger stalking its prey. Okay more like a cat chasing a laser pointer, but the fact remains. Body tensed up like a coiled spring, the behemoth shot off across the arena rushing towards the fight. He didn't have a plan in his head. Punch? Kick? Tackle? Zidane was fast and already on edge. But he was also on the defensive. If the behemoth could keep him on defense, Beatrix could continue her assault. Did she even still have her blade? Nil had tunnel visioned something fierce at this point. In the heat of the moment it was as if everything had slowed around him, flowing at a slower pace. Is this what a battle high was? It was great! Mere moments away from slamming into Zidane though, something clicked in his head. With a little snort he kicked into the dirt and slide around behind the thief...and behind the mage. Keeping his momentum Nil would aim to Heave Vivi up into the air with a mighty slam of his horns! Should his gambit work, he would leap up after the airborn mage to spike him down straight towards Zidane! ________________ Action 1: Dodge: Thanks to Nil's horns and a metal arm, Thundara was grounded with only some major static cling. Action 2: Heave: Nil rushes in and aims to hit Vivi with Heave: Charge at the foe, slamming into them with large pointed horns for heavy Physical damage before tossing them up into the air. Often opening the opponent up for aerial combos. Can only be performed on the ground. Cooldown: 2 Posts. Action 3: Basic Attack: Following up from Heave, Nil channels his inner Maverick and leaps up to try and spike Vivi at Zidane like a volleyball. The blizzard spell and the fireball most certainly got the General's attention and she praised him for his strength. He blinked in confusion at her backing away uncertainly. Was there really a discernable difference in his magic from what it used to be back when he'd fought with her on Gaia? And was having the General's attention in a battle like this actually a good idea at all? Vivi realized promptly that it was probably not.
She rushed right for him and he flinched holding his staff up to cover himself the best he could from the blow he knew was coming. His eyes were shut tightly in his desperate attempt to block, but no man on Gaia could stand against Beatrix without consequences, how could he ever hope to get out of a battle with her unscathed? The Thunder slash crashed against his staff. He was lucky it didn't shatter to pieces right in his hands. A paralyzing electricity jolted right through the boy mercilessly. Shaking violently from the charge, Vivi stumbled backward onto his bottom, very rattled. When he finally did gain his bearings he was hit instantly with guilt when he realized that Zidane put himself in the way of a second attack from the General that had been meant just for him. She would have clobbered him too.
Much to Vivi's confusion, Zidane praised the animal-esque opponent before he called back to Vivi to 'let er rip.' Vivi nodded newly motivated by Zidane's 'no try, just do it' commands. "Okay." he called back. He brought his staff up into the air but he couldn't help but pause to watch the big animal thing go tearing over the arena before stopping somewhere behind him. He didn't even stand a chance of waddling to turn around to see this big guy before he was tossed into the air then hit hard headed straight for Zidane. That Thunder Slash most definitely hurt and when he did finally crash land he had to shakily get himself up but Vivi wasn't out of options yet. He raised his staff to first cast the Drain spell on the General hoping to feel good as new himself. Next a spell to damage both opponents while they were still in such good health. The air around them took on a certain peculiar heaviness and the surrounding world just seemed to discolor and shift as the Demi spell tore through and warped it in unsettling ways.

Strange new worlds and the war within them. Vivi was not the best combatant in terms of close quarters situations; this was something Beatrix had noted from their previous engagements. And though he was considered a friend, as was Zidane, this was a tournament match and they were meant to give it their all. So there was only a momentary pang of shame for taking advantage of the wizard but it was quickly squashed by her confidence in her own -- and even his -- abilities. He had stood beside Zidane against several powerful enemies, including herself. She was sure he would find a way to trudge forward.
Her first strike slammed against his staff, the blade thunking loudly as it met the wooden pole. The electricity from her sword snapped out with such ferocious speed and strength that it actually caused the black mage to stumble backwards a step or two. It left him wide open, painting a perfect target for her secondary slash. But it seemed Zidane wasn't ready to let his friend take two attacks one after the other. He zipped over to them, putting himself in the way of the second attack. But it was much more than that; his own daggers fell to the ground, leaving his hands wide open. It was a sacrifice play; take some damage in an attempt to rob her, once again, of her weapon. Yet he would find, as his body attempted to yank Save the Queen away, that the weapon jerked forward only slightly before stopping. She was in her element now and prepared for combat; stealing her weapon in front of her would prove quite the challenge.
But even with her defenses up, she wasn't fully engaged enough to defend herself against the punch that landed square between her bust. She grunted, her body jerking back slightly from the impressive strength of the thief. Her stunned self was dealt further damage as Vivi sucked some of her energy away, making her limbs feel heavier than before. As she looked up to the thief, she managed to see the black mage for only a moment before the air around her was flipped on its proverbial head. The gravity around her grabbed at her body, attempting to pull her flat against the stone floor. Her knees bent, shakily managing to keep her on her feet, as the Demi spell pressed down on her.
First his antics in the bathhouse and now he had nearly placed his hands onto her chest. Beatrix was honestly mixed between shocked and impressed with his boldness. But as her eye snapped up to meet his momentarily, he would be able to see the barest of smirks on her lips. After all, Zidane's weakness was his empathy for his friends and allies and his willingness to protect them no matter what. And after Nil had deposited Vivi practically right next to him, they were in perfect position. Her blade swung away from her, singing a shrill tune as it whipped through the air. It came over her head and then down to the ground in front of her, unleashing its built up energy in a spray of light and power towards both of her competitors. Whether the attack struck true, as soon as the Stock Break began to fade, she snapped her left hand out at Vivi and unleashed a funnel of pressurized sound. If it connected, it would push upon his mind, causing his concentration to cast spells to fade temporarily.

Zidane had no problems risking himself to make sure his friends were safe. It was part of what made Zidane him. It wasn't some selfless nature blessed to those who called themselves heroes, nor was it something that was trained into him by some heroic and dashing rogue. The thief had a natural sense of justice spirited in ways by Baku's fatherhood that no other life experiences could nurture. The destructive nature of the boy had been driven to fighting off the strong who would pick on the weak in order to satisfy their positions. Those sorts of people always rubbed Zidane the wrong way: those who thought they were better than the former due to their ranks, position and power. It was why, a lot of the time, Zidane and Steiner bumped heads. The thief had did everything he could to help Dagger in the transition because it was what she wanted.
And yet all the knight did was bellow, groan, and bellyache about how everything he did was a crime and all he did was that from a commoner's perspective. But one had to look passed laws, and circumstance of birth if they wanted to see the truth. In the end we were all just trying to survive to the best of our power and do what was right! Maybe... had they all been more given to questioning authority and their place in the world they would have not lost so many to the war. Pride, that was all it was. And while Zidane had oodles of pride, he also had the humility to understand that he was weak. But that was why he fought and trained to overcome it! That way -- he could protect his friends and home.
The sword had come down hard, but it did not loose from the maiden's grip. Because of this when he did loose his strike it cleaved twixt the knight's buxom bosom. He felt his head become a little light at the sensation, but the graveness of his err quickly sobered the thief. With his blades in hand he made move to protect himself, only for a flash of black to whiz by in his peripheral. He couldn't turn to look as it would draw the Alexanrian General from his vision. Soon it would all come crashing down.
"Aw shit."
The thief had been focused on the fight he failed to see the bigger picture, as he was wont to do. Before Beatrix could cleave him for his foolishness she was brought down to her knee. The Rogue perked up, ready to resume his assault before -- before... He saw a shadow on the ground and looked back over his shoulder. A loud thud could be heard as bodies collided, Vivi nested on the rogue's back who was now prone on the ground, prostrate to the knight's whims. The air sparked with a familiar magic as the Paladin wound up her next attack.
Think Zidane, think! His blue eyes shot up, face smeared with dust and dirt. A wry grin painted the thief's face as he chuckled. "Hold on Vivi!" They were going to go on a one way trip! The thief pushed to jump straight into the air, hopeful his little buddy would manage to keep up. The rogue could hit amazing heights, but due to being prone he would only reach half of it, but that was good enough. Unable to fully evade the cleaving blade: Beatrix's blade would have found purchase in his chest, but it was well enough. While in the air the rogue drew power from his blades. The Soul Blade technique allowed Zidane to draw the spirit of the weapon he wielded and rain its terror onto his enemies. In this case the Masher's natural mage crushing force would have pressed Silence onto the Paladin in question. While in the air he would throw out his hand towards Beatrix summoning a focused swirl of magic into his palm. Zidane could use magic? This was far from expected for the dashing blade user as he had never shown affinity for it throughout his journey. But somewhere along the lines of discovering himself he would have profound realizations about the power he could summon. He shot out Scoop Art from his short ranged assault, having leapt a mere 4m mark into the air, and coming down quick. He had to come down at some point and would land barely a three step march from Beatrix and Nil. In a finishing flourish the rogue clapped together his blades and after a distinct clicking noise he would fuse them before rotating them in a circle, taking a new pose. His legs were spread shoulder length in a half crouch and the blade was held behind him as his tail adjusted for the new balance of the thief's blade. [Passive] -- halved by prone statusSoul Blade - 2 Cooldown; 2 Post Duration Drawing from the Blade's Spirit the thief forces a status ailment onto his enemy, that lasts for a duration of two posts. With the Ogre the effect of Blind, which reduces an enemy's ability to physically strike their opponent by half. With the Mage Mashers the effect of Silence, which prevents an opponent from casting verbal spells.Scoop Art - 2 Post Cooldown Zidane expels a portion of the energy built up in his body out towards an enemy. This ability can be used from the ground or air and does not need a weapon to be cast. This ability is considered a magical attack so is not affected by Protect-like abilities. This ability has a short range, reaching up to 4ft (1.2m). MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS
