[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Rina had never been more angry in her entire life. No! Angry wasn’t even the word for it. She was beyond angry, livid, pissed, and any other adjective you could think of. The young woman was currently pacing the 8 ft expanse of her hotel balcony with a lit cigarette between her lips, trying to force her emotions into some sort of sentence, but she could come up with nothing that wasn’t heavily laden with profanity.
Just a short time ago during her and Black Waltz’s tournament match she had mentally went off the deep end. Her undying love and patience for Waltz had been put on the wayside as soon as he had commanded Vivi to kill Zidane. She figured at the time that the odds of that actually happening were very slim, but it was the fact that the words had even left Waltz’s lips that had made her so incensed. The tournament was supposed to be for fun! But he just had to let his hatred and eternal grudges get in the way of it. Rina had kept herself as calm as she could for the remainder of the match, fully intending to let Waltz have it as soon as they were alone. Now that the moment was here though…she couldn’t even make a coherent thought.
With an aggravated sigh, Rina finished her cigarette and went to go back into her room. She had finally settled on a thought.
“I am so disappointed in you right now.”

"Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" Black Waltz 3 did not say a word as the two of them returned to their apartment room post the tournament round. He had nothing to say, really. No apologies to make, no justifications to voice... Nothing. Rina did not understand... He didn't expect her too. She was but a human with all her priorities in the wrong places. She thought this was something undyingly personal... that he wouldn't restrain himself. No. His programming had taken over. His base personality had surfaced with a vengeance upon seeing those that had damaged his pride so. On top of which, he had Tranced within this battle, causing his hatred to only amplify! She knew not the context of his words or why they were even said. He doubted she could comprehend the control placed within his "brain". And so, he said nothing. Rina went off to smoke and Waltz simply walked out the balcony, staring out across the town of Disney town. He knew not how to feel about that... On the one hand, he wanted them dead... On a base, primal level that actually had little to do with his programming, he held it against them the way they beat him all that time ago... HIM! THE PINNACLE OF MAGIC! Beaten by a monkey and a prototype! He wanted them dead for closure... to finish the fight that he'd never gotten a chance too. On the other hand, this new personality he had developed... human personality... it cringed when it heard Rina's disapproval, the undisputed cruelty that was turning the child-like Vivi against his brother-figure. As much as it would satisfy him to sever those loose ends... Like that...? That was just... horrible... Rina came out behind him, voicing yet again her disappointment... She received no answer. Waltz didn't move. He just stood out side... and stared blankly off into space. @tag

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Rina retreated to the other side of the balcony and leaned against the railing, staring over at Waltz. She fished another cigarette out of the pack in her back pocket. She rolled it around in her fingers for a moment before placing it on her lip. Just to remove it. Rina huffed in annoyance and closed the distance between them. She put the cigarette back between her lips and stood next to Waltz, but not facing him.
“Just…why? Tell me why. Help me understand. Because dammit, Waltz. I don’t understand!” She lit her smoke taking a deep puff from it, the smoke wafting out in front of her. “I know…I messed up too. I hurt you…and I’m sorry for that. That whole match was a mess…but… why are you like this? Why were you so angry with them?”
Rina leaned her arms against the balcony and stared out across the town. “What came over you, my love?” Her voice was soft and almost sounded hurt.

"Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" Memories of the battle flashed through the Waltz's eyes and yet he felt... Nothing. Not a single emotion bled through his mind, just... data. Analysis. Recognition of what happened to him with only the vague ghost of a memory of what drove him to that point... He could sense the twisting in what passed for his gut, the hot burning sand that coated his mind when he saw Vivi but the purpose... the connection between such such feelings and himself were gone... perhaps forever. Rina asked why. And he would tell her. "Pride." He spoke, his words flat... cold like a disk of steel. "My pride had been wounded by Zidane and Vivi some time ago. I felt myself superior to them and yet I was damaged critically. These events defined a certain agenda that has yet to be resolved. The means that would resolve stated agenda only escalated with the progression of time."He spoke without self, as if only a machine stood before her. The personality functions... Waltz could see them as he preformed self-diagnostics. PERSONALITY SUBROUTINES: STATUS: DISABLED/ CRITICALLY DAMAGED
PRIMARY FUNCTION: KILL: DISABLED/ CRITICALLY DAMAGED
"Anger: Noun. A state of extreme annoyance, displeasure or hostility. Insufficient description. Rage: Noun. A state of violent anger. Accurate. Personality Subroutines: Disabled. Chance of reentering an enraged state through conceivable stimuli: 0.000001 percent."@tag

As Rina listened to Waltz speak a chill came over her and seemed to settle in her bones. Without even thinking Rina pulled her jacket even closer around her. The voice that came from Waltz’s lips sounded like him…but wasn’t. It was cold and robotic…it was the voice she remembered from the first little bit of time that she knew Waltz. This wasn’t her Waltz. Black Waltz 3, yes. But this wasn’t her beloved…
The cigarette dropped from her fingers, falling to the ground so far below them. She reached out to take his arm and pulled him gently, trying to turn him towards her. She peered into the shadows of his face for a moment, before reaching up to pull away his hat. His face was blank and emotionless just like his voice was. She reached up to trace her fingers against his cheekbone. Her attack from before…it seemed to have done something to him. Broken something within him.
“What…what have I done to you?”

"Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" Waltz's blank glare fell on Rina as she turned his face her way, his hat being taken away with one quick swipe of the mercenary's hand. She stared into his empty eyes and he stared back, not even blinking as her hand ran along his facial features, only the vague numerical signals of feeling passing through his mind. All indications of emotion suggested that Rina was upset... Distressed to say the least. Her comment, asking what she had done to him, was met with an immediate response, his words dipped in confusion. "You cast a shield around me as I summoned a great wealth of lightning." He reminded her, as if reminding a child about the means of tying her shoes. "My magic rebound off your barrier and fell back upon me. But that damage could've been repaired with a strong enough spell." He paused for a moment, checking to see if she understood before he continued. "There is one other thing you did. Your sudden and frankly unexpected betrayal left me quite... disillusioned. For lacking of a more accurate description, it was almost as if my entire world came crashing down." He was completely forthcoming with this information, as if it were extracted by a computer... In a matter of speaking... it was. "I was destroyed, disabled by the emotional trauma combined with the physical. That is what you did."@tag

A rush of air came forth from Rina’s lips like she had been suckered punched in the gut. It was like Black Waltz 3 himself had reached inside her and pulled out her soul just to stomp the life out of it. Her hand dropped limply at her side as she listened to him speak. His accusations (albeit them being true even if each of them had been unintentional) tore into her like a knife against through flesh. Her stomach was twisting itself into knots and she felt like she might be sick.
“That’s… that’s not what I wanted to happen. That was an accident Waltz… you know… you know I would never hurt you on purpose… I would never… betray you.” Rina’s voice cracked as she continued to peer into Waltz’s eyes trying to find a bit of the Waltz that she knew. Before she could stop it, tears began to fall down her cheeks. “I… I love you!” Her hands which were a good bit smaller than Waltz’s balled up into fists and banged them once against his chest. There was hardly no strength behind it, just the act of frustration.
Rina continued to sniffle and cry, but she managed to get a question out to Waltz. “I…I can fix this, right? You said with a strong enough spell? Let me fix you. Let me fix my…betrayal.” The word tasted bad in Rina’s mouth, but she was more worried about the mindset that Waltz had adopted over the things that he had said because of it. Rina pressed her lips against a cold cheek that was usually so very warm.
Let me fix this.

"Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" The machine didn't seem the least bit disconcerted by Rina's half guilty-half incredulous tone, his glowing yellow eyes only seeming to blink emptily. Her promises that she would never do something like betrayal... that she LOVED him... that meant nothing to him now. All the emotional attachment that gave those words meaning were gone. It was like telling someone who couldn't see what the ground under their feet looked like. He simply stared at her quietly, grabbing her wrists without a word before she could even begin to beat on it. "The chances of recovering emotional subroutines are less than 0.001%." Black Waltz 3 reminded. "I informed you that you can fix the physical damage. The trauma you have caused to my capabilities through more... abstract means remains present. I know not of anything you could do that could fully repair me." It wasn't a definitive answer whether he would allow her to work on him... On the one hand, he had no fear of death. He had no fear at all. On the other, he wished not someone who knew nothing of the being of which they tampered to fiddle with the more complicated and delicate parts of his system. His more primal and basic functions resisted that idea. Instead of answering her, he said nothing, simply staring out over the horizon. What happened beneath the surface were new, experimental diagnostic programs and systems, the machine trying to find his own ways of fixing himself. Even now, without the pride as a justification, he preferred to handle everything on his own. @tag

Even thought it was a warm day and Rina was wearing her signature jacket an ice-cold chill settled deep inside of her. Rina replayed Waltz’s voice over and over in her head. There was nothing she could do to fix him. There was NOTHING she could do to fix him. She BROKE him and now she couldn’t even fix him! Something she had never felt before was starting to overtake her. Death. This must have been what true death felt like. Rina felt as if her soul had been ripped from her body and all that remained was an empty shell that didn’t know how to function anymore. Rina tugged herself out of Waltz’s grip, hissing softly as his talons scratched lines down her wrists and hands. The machine that stood before her was just that… a machine now. This was not the Waltz that she had spent nearly a year with. He only looked like him… Tears continued to fall down her face as she backed away from him. Was she really surprised that this was happening? No. Not really. She knew deep in her heart she had fallen way too deep into loving Waltz. She knew that because she loved him so much that something would happen to ruin the happiness that they had created. And she wasn’t surprised that it was her own doing either. It always was her fault in the end.
With blood dripping from her hands she opened the sliding door that led into their hotel room. She was going to start packing up their things, so they could hurry and leave this place. They needed to get home… she needed to find something or someone that could help them.
Was that even an option now? Rina couldn't bear the thought of the answer being no.
~End Thread~
