Fruit BallAt the request of the staff, we have enlisted Horace Horsecollar to arrange this fun event! Surprise! It's that crazy and annoying game of fruitball! Anyone who has played this game knows how annoying it is to actually play. Especially as new fruits are introduced randomly and the nets are constantly moving. There is a lot of strategy to gaining points and handling the game. If you have never played fruitball before, you should view this youtube video to get a handle on how the game works. - Video Here A staff member will be monitoring each Fruit Ball match and will be posting randomly in the thread to add extra fruits and nets to the field. Each player will only be able to access three move sets, use two actions per post, and be able to roll up to two dice to add fruit to the game. The player will determine if the opponent scores the point or not depending on where the net is. However, be realistic in your posts as the game moderator will be watching the match and making notes.
The Fruits - Effects
Bananas: If hit twice, they turn into 5 banana peels. If bumped even once they turn into peels as well. If stepped on, they stun the played for 1 post. [RGN | 1 or 2]
Grapes: After they are hit three times, the grapes separate from the vine and break off. Each individual grape can score a goal and count as their own individual fruit with no effect. [RGN | 3 or 4]
Watermelons: If hit, there is a 50% chance you will be stunned for 1 post. This will be determined by your randomly generated number. Odd - Stunned | Even - Unaffected [RGN | 5 or 6]
Pineapples: You will be stunned/dazed for 1 post you if you are hit. [RGN | 7 or 8]
Apples: No Effect [RGN | 9 or 10]
Movements | Abilities
Similar to raids, you can only use two actions per post. However, because you are playing fruitball you must use the following moves to hit the fruits.
Bump - This allows you to jump into the air after knocking the fruit up to pursue it before spiking the fruit toward the opponents side of the field.
Curve - You swing your weapon at the fruit, curving the ball instead of hitting it straight.
Shoot - You "shoot" the fruit in a straight line at whatever you are aiming, be it the goal, or maybe your opponent. (Be careful not to spam a single move or "button mash" as it may decrease your odds of scoring.)
ObstaclesRandomly a staff member may comment and a net will appear on the field. These nets, if a fruit is knocked into them, will shoot the fruit toward your side of the field. They can appear in mid-air and will block your attempts at bumping fruit. These nets will appear for 1-2 posts at a time.
Dice RollsTo use the generator, you will need to reply to the thread. In each post, you will use the dice code at the top of the screen and roll a ten sided dice. Depending on the number, this will tell you what fruit appears on your side of the field. You may roll to add up to two fruits at the end of your turn for the opponent to react to.
Odd will determine that you are stunned and Even will cause no status effect.
Goal PositionsThe goal will move from left to middle to right then back to the middle again. Every post a player makes will move the net to the next position. The net will start "stage left" to the character, aka behind them to their right.
Listing Actions | ScoreEach member is asked to write a summary of their actions at the end of their post. This will list what they did as well as helping track the current score of the game when a fruit does enter the goal. They will also need to list current fruit in play.
Each member will need to post within 48 hours of the previous poster. The game mod will post randomly and intermittently, so you may continue if one doesn't post before you do. The games will be judged on your "Score", "Realism", and "Creativity".
Have fun with it!
3.. 2.. 1.. BEGIN!
After gathering the participants for the match, Horace Horsecollar walked the two opponents to the field to play. It was a rather simple set up. The ground was the typical brown color, very similar to the streets. The boundary of the field outlined in a wiggly and playful white outline. The townsfolk were finalizing the decorations that they had picked specifically to celebrate the matches that had been arranged for the day. Two big floating netted goal posts were placed at the back of each section, the word "GOAL" sketched across it. A pink line was traced across the center of the field to show each player which side they were meant to defend. At the line was a strange looking contraption that sounded like it might just die before the match had even started. However, that was not the case. It made noises after the two players took their places opposite each other. The nets behind the players beginning to move. "Alright, play nice. Keep on your side of the line and have fun! Here are the rules!" The strange talking horse spoke before the machine shot off two fruits signalling the match to begin.

Prompto audibly gasped as he took in the tournaments surroundings. “No way!” he whispered to himself before his voice rose in volume. “This is totally like a mini game in a RPG!” As he followed the coordinator onto the field he snapped a few photos with his camera before looking over to his opponent. Sheepishly he smiled over at the young kid and put a hand behind his head feeling a little embarrassed. When he took the extra moment to examine the spiky haired boy before him, he stared at him.
“Whoa.. that's freaky.” he whispered to himself taking note of the blonde hair and blue eyes. The boy in front of him reminded him of Namine, one of his newest friends. Could they be related…?
“ You look like my friend Namine!!” he blurted out and immediately after his face turned crimson in embarrassment from his outburst. “Hiya! My names Prompto! Nice to meet ya!” he continued on. “This is so cool! Best of luck! ” he chuckled as he took his place on his side of the field.
As he listened to the moderator explain the rules and regulations he began to wonder what exactly he got himself Involved in. A game called fruitball; Okay… sounds odd but why not? He bounced excitedly on his heels and awaited for the go ahead. Thinking that the fruit would be small and it would play out more like a softball-dodgeball maybe even a soccer combination; he looked puzzled when the large fruit began to fly into the ring. A giant apple and a watermelon began to tumble towards the contestants. Oh boy… definitely more like volleyball… what in the world did he get involved in?
“Please be magic fruit… please be light magic fruit… I don't wanna get squished.” he repeated over and over to himself as he lunged for the apple first. He figured his chances would be better to start off with the fruit that was a little lighter, even though they were bigger than him. The watermelon scared him too much to try it first and he thought that for the worst case scenario, he would look like an idiot when he failed to make the massive fruit move.. Oh boy.. Upon reaching the apple he swung his gun in an arc , attempting to curve it so it would F move to the left towards the goal. Upon contact, he smiled happily and as it moved in the air; he cheered loudly. “Whoot! Oh man this is gonna be great! And here I thought I wasn't gonna be able to move it!” Taking a step to the side he quickly went to strike the other gargantuan fruit. “Coming right at cha!“ he yelled out as the struck the large green fruit. As his strike hit he hoped it would shoot straight towards his opponent, if he was able to move it. Another smile enveloped his lips; This was gonna be fun.

The Key of Destiny blinked as a random stranger exclaimed the name of the girl he’d been seeking before getting distracted by what he’d thought was a Struggle tournament. “Heya Prompto, name’s’ Roxas.” Looking Prompto over, Roxas decided that would be what Hayner would look like in ten years if he joined a rock band and used too much hair gel. “Speaking of man, so you know where…” But the explanation began, taking Roxas’ attention away from his quest once again. The basics made sense, but the sheer insanity did not make itself known until fruits ranging from beach balls to the size of small cars bounced into being from a …fruit machine? There came that momentary freeze where one wonders if they should be running or if the titanic emerald and ruby monstrosities glistening in the bright Disney Town sunshine were all according to plan. Prompto answered his question by taking the initiative and giving the promethean produce some triumphant smacks, proving they were apparently movable, all questions of mass aside. Unfortunately, the biggest one had been lobbed at Roxas himself. For a brief moment, Roxas’ entire world was nothing but tumbling green rind as the massive watermelon cast him in its looming shade. The wind left the boy’s lungs in an ‘oof’ and low groan as he was summarily flatted by the citron steamroller. Luckily, whatever weird physics Disney Town operated by meant he somehow wasn’t instantly dead from being hit by something at least ten times his size. Indeed the watermelon bounced off after impact like it it was full of air rather then juicy and red flora flesh. Clambering to his feat Roxas had just enough time to see a giant apple soar into the net behind him, accompanied by a chorus of cheers from a menagerie of anthropomorphic animal-people. Eesh, need to the pick up the pace here. He was getting dominated by a guy with crazy sunshine disaster hair and a freakin’ watermelon. “Nah you can have this back,” Keeping careful track of the gargantuan melon bouncing until it reaches its nadir, Roxas sprinted forward. A swift smack upward give both Keyblader and colocynth some lift before attempting a downswing to bump the watermelon towards his opponent’s’t net. 1) Small Boy meets Big Watermelon, Watermelon wins 2) Roxas attempts to Bump offending Watermelon ScorePrompto: 1 Roxas: 0 Fruits in PlayWatermelon Banana New Fruit RollS6UL94Mg1-10Prompto Argentum 1-10

Upon watching Roxas face off against the monstrous sized fruit;Prompto audibly winced. He didn't expect the kid to freeze up like that; then again if something that size came barreling at him, he probably would have needed a second change of pants. Even though they were playing a game he still felt bad. Looking towards the direction of Roxas, Promoto felt the urge to call out to the boy.
“Ahh! Roxas! You okay over there dude? Didn't mean for-” but his voice faded off as he tried to take a step towards the net. Trying to take that step felt impossible. Prompto's whole body felt rigid and he became light headed. He was still able to move his head, but he clenched his teeth together realizing what had overcome his body; he was stunned. Sort of similar in the way he gets when talking to Cindy, he had no choice but to wait for the effects to wear off.Coming out of his own thoughts after the realization that he couldn't move, he saw Roxas emerge from behind the watermelon as well as the cry of the audience's roar.
Holy...he did not expect the crowd to be that boisterous in their cheers. The first thing he did was smile towards Roxas seeing the kid getting back up to his feet and run over to the fleeting watermelon. Then his face became overwhelmed in fear. “That's gonna come right at my beautiful face isn't it..” He whispered more loudly then he wished for.
Upon hearing Roxas’ words, Prompto watched as the fruit soared over to his side of the net. Considering he was nothing more than a sitting duck, he watched the actions unfold. Luckily instead of getting his face smashed in, he watched the massive fruit head in the direction of his goal net. Soon after the produce had landed in his net, another round of cheers erupted from the crowd. Roxas and him were tied now. Prompto's let out a small chuckle. “Good job Rox!” He yelled out to the kid , using a nickname of sorts. “But this game is far from over!” He yelled with a smile on his face hoping to light a fire inside the kid. He wanted to see a competitive side of Roxas, since the kid seemed so distracted at the beginning of the game. Win or lose he swore to himself that today was gonna be fun for the both of them. Towards the end of his short speech he felt his fingers twitch slightly; another smirk enveloped his lips.
Today was going to be an interesting day.
1. Prompto tries to block the watermelon only to realize he's stunned; becomes sitting duck. 2. Attempts to fire up Roxas 3. Prompto's ability to move is slowly returning

Warm scarlet flushed up Roxas’ cheeks and neck as Prompto shouted encouragement. The younger athlete cringed inwardly at his opponent brought attention to his green melon-related freeze-up in front of everyone. Yeah Prompto meant well, and it wasn’t like the crowd hadn’t just seen that, but the more then a few competitive bones in Roxas’ body ached with bruised pubescent pride. Mixed in with the indignity was a guilt that curdle knots in the gut. Prompto had gotten himself frozen by the next for trying to see if his opponent was ok. Likewise, they were only tied because of that same care. Roxas had to admit he was honestly take a little off-guard from all the effusive reinforcement. It wasn’t bad just…not exactly what he was used to. That smile was pretty infectious though. “Thanks man, appreciate it” Roxas said, running a hand through the back of his own mop of shaggy blond hair while Prompto got his bearings. It was only fair after all. “But look,” Roxas made a vague gesture to the cacophony of the bouncing tropical botany, the bright surreality of the sight contrasting with the growing intensity of his tone. “Make sure your’re tryin’ to win here too!” A tennis sprint down the court ended in a strike that send a Banana clump Shooting towards the other goal. “Otherwise the game won’t mean anything!” The self-revealing claim was followed by a more delicate maneuver on the pineapple. Larger and less centrally situated, hitting the herbaceous mass towards the Prompto’s goal would send it on a much longer journey across the course. However, opting for rapidity over repositioning, Roxas did his best to send the pineapple tumbling into Prompto's side on a curve. 1) After waiting a bit for Pompto to recover, Roxas attempts to strike the banana
2) Roxas attempts to curve the pineapple towards the goal

Upon gaining his movement back, Prompto stretched his arm a bit and flailed it around. It feeling like it had prickles going through it, but it was fading fast. “No problem” he responded joyously seeing the kid get slightly embarrassed. Prompto was glad that Roxas was getting pumped. Roxas had reminded him a lot of himself. As Roxas continued with his speech, Prompto's couldn't agree more to his declaration. Young Roxas was right; up until now he was a little hesitant and felt bad, but now there was a fire inside him too.Smiling over at the young boy, he nodded his head in understanding.
“You got it Roxas! Don't be too upset if I beat ya!! “ he yelled back with a thumb up on the air.
When he saw Roxas began to book it towards the Banana, he waited for him to strike it before he responded. With a smile on his face, the banana was heading straight for him. Wait for it… Wait for it. When the yellow plantain was close enough, Prompto's gun whacked it shooting it straight back towards Roxas court. When the fruit broke apart from its bushel, in a light cloud did a group of peels form. Each piece soon were flung high into the air and splattered around both sides of the court. Prompto was not expecting that.
"Didn't do it!!" He exclaimed like a child.
Being distracted by the sudden summoning of more fruit, the cluster of banana peels obscured his vision from seeing the hidden tropical fruit that had snuck into his side of the court. He only noticed when he heard the cheers of the audience congratulate Roxas on scoring another point. Crap...He was falling behind. In an attempt to even the playing field , Prompto raced over to the neglected berry and with a last ditch effort to make it more difficult for Roxas, Prompto spun on his heels curving his attack. He hoped that the extra strength he put into this blow would increase its speed. “,I'm not going down that easy!!!”
1. Prompto shot at the banana. His strike on the banana caused it to separate and form 5 peels 2. Prompto attempted to curve the grape with a heavy blow

(Banana Stun Roll)_1rpQ_IT1-10Roxas shook his head with what'd bloomed into a fuller more genuine smile. While having come to the acceptance that he might have a temper to watch out for, Roxas didn't tend to get hung up on loss, at least not this kind. He took a staggered stance and watched as Prompto performed some legerdemain maneuverers between gun and giant banana that probably hadn't occurred to the firearm's manufacturers in their wildest punch-drunk dreams. The other guy's protestation of innocence evinced a puzzled frown, "Do what...?"The boy's world spun as a stray step backward placed him at the lubricious whims of the mushed bananas now littering the court. A pinwheeling of arms and perhaps a little less then manly yelp later, Roxas was on the ground and a watching a horse-sized cluster of grapes bounce into his own goal net. Yup, number thirteen, shaped by the greatest Nobody warriors in the Worlds into a deadly hunter of Hearts, flat on his butt in a buncha' banana peels, thought Roxas with smirking ruefulness. Yeah, probably for the best Axel was busy training right now... "So where'a you from Prompto?" Roxas asked as he extracted him from the plantain minefield. Following the ricocheting pat of a pineapple that could've easily crushed a jeep on another world, Roxas leapt up and brought keyblades down into a pile-drive towards Prompto. "Neither of us look much like the locals," the boy nodded in towards their milling toon audience, sporting ungainly proportions and chimeric combinations of humanoid and animal features. 1) Roxas slips on some bananas but recovers. 2) Roxas attempt to bump the pineapple into Prompto's goal

Horace had learned his lesson with tinkering too much with the fruit machine. It was much easier to simply press the button that was already set on the launcher. That way, they could easily summon extra fruit to the field. Horace moved over to the machine, smiled, and pressed the button. All the teams were playing it too careful. Plus, the machine was running too slow only shooting out one fruit at a time. What was wrong with it!? He'd certainly need to see if Chip and Dale could do some maintenance afterwards to get it running up to actual speed instead of half speed.
The horseman's eyes drifted over to a strange lever. What was that for again? He certainly could not remember. He moved over, tapping his snout as he looked it over. It certainly seemed pretty safe, right? What horrible things could a harmless little lever cause? It was sitting there so patiently. Just waiting for some fool to pull it... and that is EXACTLY what happened. Horace reached up and pulled it, summoning a net to the middle of the field above the net, blocking and fruit that might be headed to cross the middle of the field to reach the opponent's goal. My bad!! You aaaaaalmost had it! SORRY! But, I gottcha a fruit....well, TWO!! Wincing as the young boy fell on his backside, Prompto called out to him. “You good Roxas? That sounded like it hurt!” He would be the person to know best what it was like to fall on banana peels. Actually...he would know what it was like to fall over just about anything. Prompto was...less than graceful, and he could only imagine the gargantuan version had to hurt a little worse. When he saw Roxas start to stand back up he smiled. Good.
“Where I’m from?” he asked in response. No one had really asked him that before. Everyone that he had recently come across in the past had merely accepted his help for various tasks. Disposing Heartless, miscellaneous rescue missions; no one took the time to really question him. “Well I'm from a place called Insomnia on a planet named Eos-” as he started to respond he saw the blonde strike his target with such ferocity he went to slide on the ground to block the incoming fruit when his body decided to fail him again...so he tumbled onto the ground. Great job Prompto...now you look like a total loser..GREAT first impression. His body now laid rather awkwardly on the ground, with his face practically in the dirt below. “Awe man! My Hair!” He whined. Prompto knew he was about to fall behind until he heard Horace began to speak rather loudly at the fruit volley machine and it summoned a new net in the middle field. Watching the incoming Pineapple bounce right off the newly formed net, Prompto smiled. He wasn't down for the count yet.
“Sooooo considering I’m kinda stuck down here for a while..” He began before lightly turning his head in the direction of Roxas. “You said you aren't from here right? How did you get here?Where are you from??” he had so many questions that he needed answered, but considering this was a game, who knew how many of his answers could be answered right now. Maybe after this match he would approach him.
1. Prompto was stunned from summoning a fruit, Landed on his face when he tried to reflect an oncoming fruit. 2. Whined about his perfectly groomed hair 3. Asked Roxas a million questions.

“Fine man, just my dignity,” replied Roxas candidly to Prompto’s query, pursing his lips while scrapping mushed bananas and peels off his cargo pants even though it was pretty clearly a losing battle. He was coming to just accept this Prompto guy was a worrier. Guess it was better then an opponent who cheap-shoted giganto-fruits into your face without caring right? Sandy brows rose as Prompto named his homeworld, one Roxas had visited recently it turned out. Tracking Naminé was taking him to even farther flung vistas then work for the Organization had. Eos was those rare worlds with technology he actually recognized. Oh man, running water and refrigerators, it’d been totally worth the fiends and assassins! “Never been to Insomnia, but I’ve visited Tenebrae, was pretty gor-…” Appreciation of the Tenebrae Forest’s ancient verdancy and floating citadels was cut short by Prompto’s side-tackle? block? whatever-that’d-been, not going so well. Bemusement played at the corners of Roxas’ lips as Prompto bemoaned the fate of his magnificent sunny mane of fluff. Not quite hearing their equine managers words, Roxas folded his hands behind his head and grinned with adolescent cruelty. “Y’know if you…GAH!” Roxas’ attempt at cheeky sagacity was cut short by a loud thunk as his previous pineapple projectile rebounded back onto his skull. In short order he was sitting right back into those damn banana peels, watching the multicolored flags stretched out above the court blur and wave into a gyroscope of sprinkles and animal faces. “Oh me?” He managed groggily, staggering to his feet. Prompto received a quite a few blank blinks before there was only one of him in Roxas' vision. “I’m...I'm from a world called Twilight Town.” If Prompto was from Eos then there wasn’t much point to concealing the truth. “I and a buddy used magic to get here.” It sounded decidedly lest sinister then 'walking the Dark Corridors.' 1) Roxas demonstrated poor situational awareness, and was stunned by the bounced pack pineapple Score: Tied at 2 Fruits causing Havoc:2 Pineapples 1 Partially Smacked Grap 1 Watermelon Prompto Argentum

As he watched the poor boy start off by failing to clean his clothes and then suffer serious whiplash from the pineapple that decided to implode Roxas’s face, Prompto couldn't help but smirk. He sat up in a cross legged position to see the performance unfold in front of him. If only he could move to take a picture. Wait… Realizing that he was able to move, Prompto quickly hopped up on his feet and began shaking his head like a used feather duster to rid all of the dirt that was In his hair and then proceeded to do just what he thought about. After a few photos and a couple of groans from the audience, Prompto returned to the task at hand. Going back to what Roxas had mentioned about his home, Prompto's heart raced. His home..oh how he wanted to be back. His friends, his life everything was there and ever since that first attack where he stumbled through the dark portal he had been trying everything to return. Were his friends okay? Had they taken care of the heartless that in invaded Insomnia?
“Wait you have been to Eos??!” Prompto backtracked and spoke rather excitedly. “after this tournament we have got to talk! “ he could tell the townspeople were a little disappointed by the lack of fruit slinging action. Prompto had so many questions and wanted to learn about this Twilight Town, but it would have to wait for another time. He had a show to put on. “Coming at cha Roxas!” Prompto yelled as he went forward and shot at one of the pineapples bumping it into the air, hoping it would bounce around the court a bit to confuse the kid before ultimately heading towards his opponents goal. But who ever said that his plans ever worked out??
Feeling his heart race with excitement as his attempt was set into motion he made his way over to the grapes that had seemed to be forgotten about. Upon reaching them, Prompto got a little cocky and swiped at the grapes in an attempt to curve them onto Roxas’ side of the court; that's when he felt his body slip forward. Prompto had overestimated his reach and was falling straight for the fruit with his forehead front and center. The next thing he knew he had purple juice flood his vision and his forehead stung. From all of those lovely events he didn't really pay attention to the grapes anymore to see where they went. On Top of his great luck, Prompto had face planted into the dirt... again. Just great.
“why does this keep happening to me??!!” He yelled somewhat annoyed. Shaking his head, feeling dizzy from a possible concussion, Prompto held up a thumbs up. “ Imf Gud” he replied as his words slurred now that the reality that his forehead had become the new target to these tropical insane fruits.

Gv0xQp5J1-10(Rolled to see how this pineapple situation unfolds) Roxas dashed across the court, noting the giant fruit's momentum as it made erratic progress towards his goal. Several unpredicted rebounds later, Roxas and the herbaceous projectile had reached horizon of the net. Realizing it was now or never Roxas vaulted upward to meet the monstrous tropical boulder at its apex. All seemed to go according to plan for a bit. His keyblade came down with a satisfying slam, sending the pineapple back over to the side. Only probably was that force, mass, and acceleration each decided to give Roxas a lesson in physics and he tumbled several feat down into a stunned heap in front of his own goal. Wulp, a least the bananas weren't here at least. The consolation that least he was face-first in the dust instead of squishy bananas (variety y'know) came to a close as a giant juicy tumbleweed rolled across the blurry swirl of his vision. Its velocity was slowing, but it was still getting dangerously close. "No grapes," pleaded Roxas groggily, "...dooon't do it...." Blessedly they stopped on an uneven edge of their bulbous mass. But then they rebounded with wobbly indecision, tipping forward with ache inducing precariousness. "Oh no...don't you even..."In an act of cosmic spite, frui touched net ever so slightly. "Gah," Roxas intoned as he staggered to his feet. Shielding his eyes with with a hand, Roxas returned Prompto's thumbs up with one of his own. They were both alive! 1) Roxas manages to deflect the pineapple away from his goal and towards Prompto's, but is stunned in the process 2) The treacherous face-grapes score

At the present moment, Prompto was attempting to remove all the grape juice that had ended up all over his face, but it wasn't just juice; it had to be dirt too. It was all over his hair.. .
“Fruit..is not a weapon! Fruit is supposed to be yummy and eaten not flung around and smacked into people's faces! “
What kind of sick and twisted world did he have to end up on for this to be a game?? Prompto only realized that he had scored a point when the audience started to cheer rather loudly. These people were crazy… Moving his hand over his face to clear his vision, Prompto ran forward to blindly strike one of the nearest fruits and it just so happened to be a pineapple. Striking the fruit the the tip of his gun, it started to rotate at a angle making it look like it was dancing. Prompto laughed obnoxiously as it began to spin so quickly the colors started to meld together; by no means was the fruit actually moving fast.. It just spun rather comically. Just… how hard did he hit his head?
Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a second pineapple flying at high speeds over to his side of the court. Didn't he just hit a pineapple? Why are there so many pineapples??? Rubbing his eyes again to get more purple juice out of his vision he peeked in-between his fingers. He had one of two choices; One try to hit it away and hope for the best or Two… Just accept his fate that the pineapple was slowly making its way towards his net. Prompto decided he would at least attempt to strike it away. “I swear it's like I'm playing a video game at this point, like a warrior attacking fruit.. Or a ninja…!!”
GI0yN3Lw1-10 (Roll to determine if he was able to block the incoming Pineapple heading towards his net) (Evens are a goal)
1) Prompto struck a pineapple making it dance really really fast.
2) tried to run after pineapple going after his net
Score : Prompto 3 Roxas 2
Fruit in play 2 Pineapples 1 Watermelon
1-10 New fruit roll
