"We're both....ignorant. As oblivious as when we began. I'm afraid any world you try to create...any world of yours, would be an empire of ignorance. That is why you and your creation, are destined to fall. We've said enough. Riku you know what to do. King Mickey my friend....forgive me... Farewell."
The sudden rush of air filled his aged nostrils to awakening. It felt as yesterday he was standing in the presence of the shell of the man he had once nursed back to health, into his home, and into his heart. Felt as yesterday he was trying to right oh so many wrongs he had made...to fix what he broke. Even now, both his dreams and his waking vision were haunted by the specters of memory. There was still so much weighted on his mind...he couldn't forget even if he wanted to. After all, how could he? Mickey....Riku....Sora....and....
......
Not that name. Not now. It was far too early. Or too late? It was becoming more and more agitating to tell from within the confines of his old lab. His desk had become his bed, for he dared not to leave the sanctity of areas he could corner off as his own so long as those indescribable and disgusting excuses for beings still roamed his castle once more. As if the problems of yesteryear, long ago, and even today could be written off on such a FOOLHARDY WHIM!!!
.....
Enraged fingers and trembling fists slowly eased themselves. It was pointless to cling to this emotion that had sustained himself for so long in that darkest of places. Instead, said digits idly and tiredly brushed the copious amounts of dust he could still find here and there. Care seemed to have been taken to try and...tidy the place up. Though who? This...committee? His old friend? One of....them? Pointless, pointless, and pointless still. Could he even still call this 'his?' After all, it was not only stolen from him, among a great many other things. Not only stolen, but also abandoned in its greatest time of need. The once smiling faces of so many...had turned to suffering and misery, all in his name...in truth, he might as well have done the deeds himself, for allowing it all to happen to his people, being trapped and unable to intervene...having been the cause in the first place...
...these....accursed thoughts, plaguing day in and DAY OUT...in truth...oh yes in truth oh how he MISSED the shores. To forcibly forget. Now...now everything was just...swirling...tormenting...could nothing ease this? Alleviate if only for the smallest of moments? Not that he deserved such a mercy but...
Aged eyes widened to the sound of soft...polite knocks. His heart...warmed at the familiarity. His mind traveled to that...better time. It still felt fresh in his mind. The day he had met another ruler, another monarch. Oh the talks they had, the tales they shared...the laughs...the smiles. Before, he would've had the commanding power in his voice to usher them in himself with an 'Enter', or the stalwart readiness of---
They didn't even deserve to be named.
No...he needed to forget the focus on those that betrayed...and fell. At least for a moment...the slightest, SMALLEST of moments. Slowly, achingly...painfully, he uprighted himself from the seat he slumbered upon, fingers gripping his...new companion. A simple..meager cane, that trembled with his arm in unison. The...explosion...and the harsh time once again in that darkest of places had truly taken its toll. Even in his age, he used to be so filled with...life and now...he could hardly stand on his own. How could he even show himself to his people like this?
No...enough....be still mind....be still. Step by slow step, he made his way to the door, pain shooting through a leg like a viper's bite. But still he buried it. He half expected to see that silver haired serpent himself when he opened the door, coming again to discuss those 'experiments', those foolish, FOOLISH---
clunk....creeeeeeeeeaaaak.....
