The snowy ruins had not changed much after Kuja had left his world almost two weeks ago. Having seen the Waltz on the event had given him some worry about the others abilities to deliver, so of course he would now check on the progress the creature had made in the meantime. How much life-energy had he collected? If he had time to enter a competition for magic, he really must have a lot of his hands to show the Genome today. Kuja's body glided through the sky, down into the cave he had reprogrammed the machine in, his body settling on top of the icy path, his lavender eyes looking down at the water under him. Seeing his own reflection, Kuja couldn't help but narrow his eyes a little at what his eyes met. He saw his usual beautiful self, but his eyes now carried a shadow beneath them... he looked tired. Of course he would. After what had happened in the tournament, he had problems sleeping some times, his body craving new life energy as he felt how the threads slowly started to loosen that held him together.
He truly started to identify with the Black mages right now, feeling how invisible stitches started to bust open on his body, his head immediately shaking as anger lifted to his face. Don't even compare yourself to them, he told himself over and over. Where was Black Waltz?! He had send him a magical message for him to come here today and he hoped the creature wouldn't let him wait much longer. His patience was running thin slowly.

 "Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" The message was unnecessary as Black Waltz 3 was already among the ice, tinkering with one of his Black Guardians. The massive construct stood over 15 feet tall, towering over the already massive mage, it's body rigid, the lights within it's helmet put out. The fresh souls he had implanted to power these machines had been... finicky, seeing as soul-binding wasn't an exact science, but progress was being made... Combat effectiveness was at 80%, order-taking subroutines at 100, everything else checking out as normal. Over all, progress was stellar... Perhaps his master would be proud of what he accomplished... perhaps not. He had grabbed a few souls before the message had gone out, about a small handful that appeared a big coagulated mass of beings... He didn't know if this would extend Kuja's life at all, if it was enough, but it was the best he could do. Between these interlopers, intruders and his work on these machines, his main objective had been continuously pushed into the background. The Machine had sensed the wizard's presence and merely waited for him to enter the central chamber of the cavern, where both the Waltz and his guardian awaited. He suspected, as he did every time his master was around, that this was the end of his life... If it were... he wanted it to be as slow and long-lasting as possible. @tag |

Kuja could sense the energy of his servant and something else that wasn't actually his close to him. An eyebrow slowly raised at this realization. How strange... His steps would carry him to the chamber close to where he had landed to find his making with something else beside him. It seemed Waltz had been busy after all.. the question was, if it had been worth it.
“Ah, I see you have learned some new tricks, my servant.”, he would muse, his arms crossing in front of his chest as his lavender eyes admired the strange guardian. Had he created this himself? How interesting.
“A golem of some sort? Almost impressive..”
His step would come to a halt a meter away from the Waltz, lavender eyes moving up to look at him, only for the mage to let his magic carry him up into the air slightly so his presence would be a little above the Waltz, reminding him of his place.
“Well, my creation.. tell me... what have you achieved in the time between now and our last meeting? How many strong souls have you been able to harvest for me? Knowing you had time to visit a Magic Show, I assume it must be enough to satisfy me.”
Kuja had changed since the day of the tournament. His.. curelty had slowly regained more power over him, knowing his life was in danger. He himself had already harvested a few souls, but it was far from enough. Waltz's main objective was to gather energy for him, so of course he wanted to see results today.

"Get out of my way! Do you dare fight a Black Waltz?" The Waltz was distinctly aware of his master's presence long before he entered his chamber. Kuja just possessed an air of authority that sent ripples for miles around wherever he stepped. While he could just as easily mask this, the genome seemed not to bother masking his intent this time. The Black Waltz glanced over his shoulder as his master came closer, remarking how the machine had acquired a new toy. He didn't recognize it at all, did he...? Bah. Why would he? Kuja cared not for any of them and only used him as a means to an end... Those thoughts of his possessed a hostility the Waltz didn't expect! It almost sounded like he had the RIGHT to judge his master for doing what he wanted! ...Maybe that's because he was... How life-threateningly bold of him...
"...Yes. Humorous, is it not?" The Machine asked, his voice surprisingly grave. "A tool playing with tools. A Toy tinkering with toys."
As was his right, Kuja requested that the Waltz hand over the souls he was assigned to acquire, remarking that if the machine had time to explore frivolous pursuits like the magic show, surely he had completed his task by now! The Waltz froze at that, his body locking up for a moment before turning to face his master slowly, almost as if he was expecting to be struck down upon laying his eyes upon him! His master levitated about 16 feet off the ground, the machine forced to look up upon him in more than just the literal sense... The Waltz held out an upturned palm, lightning crackling and sparking within and with a loud electric screech, the souls appeared.... a tidy collection to be sure, but nothing so grand that it would make someone as high-caliber as Kuja overly excited. "...There were difficulties." He explained, expecting instant death any time now. "Several warriors appeared at each attempt to acquire more, each one possessing a strange Key-like weapon... The Magic-Show, my master, was an attempt to scout out strong souls for you to consume... These were all I could acquire with the tools I was given."@tag |
