Tournament Reviews This template is to be used for all Tournament reviews. It is the same form that staff uses. Please copy and paste the code from the bottom into the appropriate match review thread that has been created by the staff. Please do not create your own thread. You cannot review a thread that your character participated in. For every knowledgeable and well written review, you will gain 20 munny to the character account you post the review with. You may only post one review per thread. Please be sure that your review is detailed and informed. Site Rules still apply to raid reviews, so be polite and respectful. Everything a member posts is to be read as constructive criticism and is not to be taken as an attack. Any issues should be reported directly to a staff member. Damage Inflicted and Taken: What powers were used and what damage taken should be reviewed here, as well as the effects of any powers used. Basically, which side dealt more and which side took more damage.
Key Points:- Overall damage inflicted
- Strategic use of items
- Overall combative dominance
Questions to Ask Yourself:How much damage would that skill have inflicted on the target? Would a skill be super effective against the character, such as using a potion against someone inflicted with zombie. Who caused the most damage? Which side would have probably won the fight. Skill and Style: This isn't for it being well written, but the creative style and effect of their strategy and if it also had a imaginative visual.
Key Points:- In-Character Combat Style
- Skills used wisely
- Use of weaknesses and strength
Questions to Ask Yourself: Did the member stick to their character's fighting style? Did they set them up in a way that would have been hard to defend against? Did that character use their unique/individual fighting style, or 'X-factor' to their best advantage? Did they use their known written powers in such a way that they normally wouldn't use them? Did someone feel out-of-character? Who controlled the battle? Who was more dominant with how the flow of battle went against the other? Did a character seem to be reacting to attacks more than being the one to inflict them? Did one player keep the other on their toes more than the other? Did one character seemed more defensive, calm and collected than the other? Did one person execute an ingenious strategy to win? Did one character identify the other's weaknesses or use their opponent's strength against them? Did a character start at a loss, only to turn it around and gain the flow and control of the battle in their favor? Did a character seem to just use attacks and throw them at the opponent, or used them in a way that was hard for the opponent to fight/defend/counter against? Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: How well did the member write and describe their actions and surroundings. This also includes if a character did not explain themselves or were not justified in their movements or dodging.
Key Points:- Stayed In-Character
- Easy to Understand
- Overall fairness
Questions to ask yourself: Did they justify certain movements and their character's fight style? Whether their post was short or long, where they able to explain their actions to the reader and get their point across? Did you question any actions or abilities a character did make? How well did you understand their writing? Did they dodge an attack that should have otherwise harmed them? Did they ignore or shrugged off attacks or write that the attacks had no effect on them? Did they seem to know something about their opponent that otherwise their character wouldn't know? Did a character do something you felt was not fair or use a power not listed/misuse a power listed on their application? Who had the best sportsmanship, and was fair to the other team in taking damage? Did someone take a hit that they probably could have dodged? Did a team take hits that they knew they couldn't dodge realistically? Damage Inflicted and Taken:
Alright, so I won't lie this is probably a bit biased but I felt like Namine spent a vast majority of this thread on the defensive. I mean at one point she is essentially pleading with Gilgamesh. Now, I won't deny she made full use of his merciful nature in order to buy herself some much needed time. However, I definitely feel like Gilgamesh was incredible fair with the amount of damage he dealt and received, not to mention he made use of his numberous abilties to kind of keep himself in relative tip top shape.
[******Gilgamesh******] Skill and Style:
So I ultimately have to give this one to Namine because of her dedication to her character's developement not only as a formidable combatant but also as a well-rounded character. Certainly, there was a lack of action for the first rounds as she and Gilgamesh had a bit of a heart to heart. Something, I felt that captured that Namine never intended to really become a fighter, that perhaps she wasn't prepared for the harshness of forcing another to submit and admit defeat. None the less, I enjoyed watching how she and Gilgamesh kind of bonded in a way before they began their match. The other reason I give this one to Namine is despite Gilgamesh's eccentric personality, it is realtive the same across the games. Namine assumed the forms of multiple people that vary vastly on a personality spectrum so I feel like the amount of skill it takes to embrace multiple different personas isn't any scoffable matter.
[******Namine******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship:
Again, this kind of plays into the aforementioned part about Namine who not only captured her own personality, but she captured the personality of several other people to include Sally and Mulan. Plus, Nammers painted a very vivid picture in my mind. Not to say that Gilgamesh's words didn't make this battle like a cinematic masterpiece to read. However, I have to give this to Namine due to the fact she took ever blow that she deserved and retalated whenever she could. Now, I will give Gilgamesh kudo's for dealing with Sally's rather pragmatic ability to be able to dodge any one blow or negate its' damage. I know for me that would be quite frustrating but none the less, I think this thread as a whole was quite well written. I would have loved to see it extend outwards a bit more but none the less. Reasoning goes here, please show your work on how you made your decision.

Damage Inflicted and Taken: In this category I do not believe there is much ambiguity, as Gilgamesh controlled both the physical and social flow of this fight. His mercy and challenges each respectively determined when combat truly happened. Naminé was largely on the defensive, which makes sense giving the roleplaying context of the fight. Gilgamesh also dealt the most damage in the purely numerical sense and utilized his abilities to deal with injury. [******Gilgamesh******] Skill and Style: First of all id like to say that this is yet another battle this is hard to judge, which is a good thing! Honestly when this tournament started (aroudish when I first joined the site) I kind of just assumed they’d all be rock-um-smack-em brawls to the death, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, it’s been threads like this that have challenged that assumption. The addition of a metanarrative in this battle, through Naminés internal struggle with her imposter syndrome and finding out what first looked like something fun that some of her friends liked, to actually be a really stressful and kinna horrifying experience, gave a sense of continuity that makes it more then the sum of its parts. Gilgamesh added another piece to this by proving to be more then just an antagonist and jester, but someone who challenges Naminé to overcome herself. Kudos to Malach for showing us all another side of Gilga while still keeping him in character. Naminé also demonstrated great skill in her shifting portrayal of Naminé abilities, managing to juggle not only her central struggle but also the other people she assumed the form of. This whole thread dripped with style, but my vote on S n’ S goes to Naminé .
[******Naminé******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: I was and quite torn on this section. Both writers collaborated well and showed a great degree of class in taking the hits logical for their character to receive (special shout out to Nams here who took a pretty gnarly silencing attack and took the time to tie it in thematically to a previous thread), and describing their attacks with enough leeway room for their opponents. Nammers did an amazing job portraying not only the visual nature of Naminés abilities, but also the more intangible qualities that made the shapeshifting more believable. However for this section I’ve finally decided to give it to Gilgamesh on virtue of sportsmanship. It would’ve been pretty easy to justify just starting the pain train on a depressed Naminé immediately (and was even entreated to do so) and take advantage of her silenced state to bring this match to a pretty swift and unambiguous conclusion in his favor. However, Malach decided to put narrative and RP first and played along to make a far more interesting story then if things had just immediately turned to walloping. That is why my W n’ Sp vote goes to Gilgamesh.

Damage Inflicted and Taken: Like what the other two have said, Gilgamesh wins in terms of Damage inflicted. Namine was on the defensive for nearly the whole of what was actual combat, while Gilgamesh was actually attempting to make the fight a fight, rather than just a few token smacks back and forth. I hold no disdain for either of these fighters, but Gilgamesh is very much the one who wins in terms of this category, as he was very fair and balanced in terms of damage that was thrown out, as well as what was taken. [******Winner: Gilgamesh******] Skill and Style: For starters, I would like to say that I have read many, many, MANY topics revolving around tournaments and have even been involved in quite a few. Like many of them, this can actually be very hard to judge in terms of skill and style. Ultimately however, one of these fighters was dedicated to both development of their character and their changing mentality as the topic drew on. As such, I have to give this to Namine. With Gilgamesh, he was essentially in his element the entire time, aside from when he was comforting Namine. There was no change, but he did have style. However, just being stylish does not equate to skill. I personally am very much a person who prefers character development. As such, this close category goes to Namine. [******Winner: Namine******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: However, with this category, the opposite is true. While Namine swept in terms of development of her character, Gilgamesh was the more sportsmanlike and generally descriptive. Along with that, his style was very much able to sweep up the whole tone of this round-in spite of how Namine actually won the style and skill round. On a more appropriate note, his descriptions were very succinct, and was always enough to help create an actual picture in the theater of the mind. On top of that, what is possibly more sportsmanlike than stopping combat in the middle of a tournament to comfort your opponent? He was doing that for long enough that he was able to drive positive development for Namine, along with agreeing to a free-form style of combat, something that enables quite a bit of fun in a topic like this. As such, the winner is very clear to me. [******Winner: Gilgamesh******] Raid Winner: ***** Gilgamesh ******

Damage Inflicted and Taken: In terms of shear brute force I believe Gilgamesh wins in terms of damage output. Each strike was an acceptable amount of damage without too much overkill. Gilgamesh did not begin the fight too heavy hitting until the proper time was necessary. His ability to switch between his different swords left little room for a weakness and showcased his combat prowess. Namine remained on the defensive for a large portion of the fight and the types of strikes given were more or less taps in the grand scheme of things. Though her moves were highly skilled, the swordsman Gilgamesh worked around the battlefield seamlessly. [******Winner GILGAMESH******] Skill and Style: Hands down I believe Namine wins this one for her quick adaptability of her surroundings and her opponent. Even though she was clearly outmatched in terms of Physical power, she used her enemies confident attitude against him to make up her combat weaknesses. Having the large variety of skills while in the form of Sally and Mulan (allowing her body to fall into separate pieces as Sally; to both scare her opponent and give her a bigger presence in battle; and Mulan's four elemental strike to counteract the onslaught Gilgamesh was giving her) that quick thinking allowed her to pick herself up multiple times without worrying about what to do next. Strike after strike it seemed like she immediately had a plan of action. [******Winner NAMINE******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: This one was by far the hardest to think of a winner about. In terms of Sportsmanship I believe Gilgamesh hit it on the nail considering in the beginning he saw how distressed Namine was and would not attack her until she was ready. In any other circumstances an opponent would strike their foe down, but he didn't. He allowed her to mentally prepare herself for the battle to come and once it did he was a gentleman. When Namine lost her abilities and she played off his ego he readily accepted the consequences and relished in the limelight.
Although I believe this, Namine's description of each transformation and battle sequence had me sitting on the edge of my seat as I read through the posts. I loved how elements of her pervious battle still weighed heavy on her and influenced most of her actions. Gilgamesh was very entertaining in his dialogue but, Namine really created a beautiful scene with each post and worked through her combat weaknesses in unique ways. Sally's candy corn was by far my favorite part. Each transformation and move were described in such meticulous detail that I had no problem actively visualizing all of it unfold. Damage Inflicted and Taken: Ok, I'm gonna start off by saying this was a very fun read. Both writers did an exceptional job with their narrative, and I was hooked after the first post. On to the review: While Namine seemed to control the pace of the battle, because we all know women are willy and men melt in their hands, Gilgamesh seemed to deal more damage here. Some of this was blocked early on by a seemingly indestructible sketchbook, and some was basically null and void because Sally is a freak of nature. However, Namine didn't really deal a whole lot of damage until she shifted into Mulan, but even that was mitigated and countered by Gilgamesh. Gotta go with the swordsman on this one. [******Gilgamesh******] Skill and Style: This one is a toss up. Namine showed skill by keeping the pace flowing slow and methodical the entire fight. That was a smart idea. Had Gilgamesh dictated the pace, she wouldn't have had much luck. Gilgamesh, kept his wits about him the entire fight, unless he was screaming like a little girl at the stitched up Sally. He had plenty of skill to keep the fight going for a long time, something I'm not sure Namine would have been able to counteract had this thread continued. I am going to award this very close point to Namine though. By keeping the battle drawn out, she was able to go from one transformation to another without having to worry about Gilgamesh beating her to a pulp. [******Namine******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: It all comes down to this, what I believe is the most important category in judging one of these battles. Descriptive writing was on point for both these guys, and it really felt like this was Namine and this was Gilgamesh in the arena. Sportsmanship is where this is all decided. Namine was fair with most of her dodges and blocks, but one thing confused me. In the beginning she blocked a series of machine gun shots by twirling her notebook. I had a little trouble picturing how this would work, but I didn't think much about it at the time. Gilgamesh took nearly every blow Namine dealt, with the only thing he didn't take I believe being the poison powder from Sally-Namine. A very close decision, but ultimately I'm going to go with Gilgamesh on this one, as he was just a little more fair about what damage he took.
