Damage Inflicted and Taken: So this battle was between two unevenly matched sides, with three on five. Dark had very clear combat dominance due to have nearly twice as many actions at their disposal, though Team Neutral put up a surprisingly good fight. Both sides had varying amounts of member contribution, but in the end sheer math was very much against the defenders. The battle overall had three distinct phases. The first was the arrival and buffing phase with not much damage in it. The second was the smack-talk and poke phase, with only damage put out by the Dark team that was largely negated by Neutral’s various defenses. Then all hell broke loose in phase three, “OMG WHY IS MY EVERYTHING ON FIRE!”. In phase three Dark unleashed a truly brutal magical beatdown of rocks, black holes, lightning and laser beams. Neutral retaliated strong with some serious immolation and defenses that took a way a little of the damage, but overall Team Dark were the drivers on the pain-train. Dark Skill and Style: There were some characters that didn’t reach the actual fighting part, but the audience got to see a variety of fighting styles, some of them unorthodox. Team Dark did a lot of mocking, posturing, and “You cannot stand against the will of MORDOR!!” which was very in character. Also appropriate was their all out blitz when Team Neutral didn’t budge. Team Neutral for their part were more reserved and stoic. I appreciated that their inner narrative made it clear that they were defending the castle with their buddy inside of it, which made their immobile defensive style make more sense. In this way I believe they utilized their strengths better, concentrating their position in a chokepoint and minimized the disadvantage of their lesser numbers (even if this made the enemy’s myriad area attacks all the more effective). Dark for their part was far more random and individualistic in their fighting style, and while in character was far less tactical and skillful. This section goes to Neutral for superior maneuvering against desperate odds. Neutral Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: There was some amount of confusion at points, which isn’t so much a discredit to the writers as much as just an inevitability with so many characters with so many abilities in one place. Overall the sportsmanship was pretty good, though the word “unavoidable” was utilized a little gratuitously by Dark at few points, and some mismatch in estimates between players in Neutral about just much damage Ciru’s attacks would absorb. Minor technical quibbles though, both teams did admirable at tracking things despite the madness. A particular shout out I think due for Ciru here, who had the foresight to elaborate in simple terms what his various buffs did. Particularly interesting what the start of a show-down between Terranort and Dieter, an interesting tactical and character decision on Terra’s part that was very unique, also kudos to Dieter for playing along with a move despite its obvious tactical disadvantages. In the end, I’m giving the vote here to Dark. Their various internecine squabbling was very in character, the mad-dog on a leash dynamic between Vanitas and Papa Nort, Xemnas’ motivation to reclaim his standing after failure, Terrable-teen-nort primarily interested in turning the Dark weilders on the opposition, Papa Nort wanting his Seekers to prove themselves again, and Laurium providing a “Oh look if it ain't Flower-Power Judas!” factor, which all gave good cohesive context for the various RP interactions. Damage Inflicted and Taken: Hoo boy. If this raid went on for a bit longer, damage output and taken would probably be a bit less one-sided. However, I have to give this to Dark. Marluxia's attacks followed Xemnas just going all-in with his Ultimate Move pretty much sealed this section for Dark. It was a little bit more even in the "Damage Inflicted" department with Deiter firing off three extremely powerful fire moves at three different characters, but alas, time ran out before damage could be taken. [******Dark******] Skill and Style: Dark faltered a bit here, though understandably so. It was clear they weren't going to play the tactics game and just decided to play the "Murder the opponents a lot" game. Which is both fair and understandable. However, Neutral prepared themselves quite well, mitigating much of the damage that they might have received had they not. I also felt like Dark was a bit uncharacteristic in standing around and just demanding a surrender, but that's my own personal opinion. That being said, nice move by Terranort to split up the group. [******Neutral******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: This section, as always, is a bit harder to judge. Both sides have great writers and they both played fair by the forum rules, if not by the "honorable duels where you don't just murder your opponents with your best moves" rules. That being said, I'm siding with Dark. Xemnas's rage, Master Xehanort's disappointment and confidence, Laurium's ruthlessness all shined in this raid. I felt that Dark added a bit more to their posts beyond just what they were doing there. Again, I kinda wish this Raid went on a bit longer to see how the fight evolved (especially the one-on-one duel between Dieter and Terranort) but alas, I can only go with what's in the thread. To me, Dark wins. [******Dark******] Raid Winner: ******Dark******
