While Maleficent's stronghold was still standing like a rotting carcass in the distance, it still hid relics from the peak of its existence. That's precisely what Mordred was trying to find. He came to Radiant Garden to find Ansem's computer. However, at the time, there were too many people milling around. As much as Mordred would've like to take their Hearts for Eden, they were accomplished warriors and he didn't need a repeat of Snow Villiers. Mordred decided to investigate the crumbling fortress on the horizon instead, figuring it to be abandoned. It was emblazoned with the now familiar Heartless emblem, which only further piqued Mordred's interest. The Heartless themselves were too mindless to create such a structure. Perhaps someone aligned with them or using them to further their own goals. Mordred would have preferred not to be anywhere near a place that worshiped the creatures that would destroy the universe, but he had an inkling that he'd find a useful thing or two. Beside, while he found such an act distasteful, he could probably find a means to control the Heartless more readily. Xemnas's plan was nearly complete thanks to the Keybladers destroying the dark creatures and releasing the Hearts trapped within. However, contributing to the entropy of the universe would have to be a last resort.
Mordred's journey through the castle eventually found himself in an extremely large room. He recognized it from the computer on The World That Never Was. This was supposed to be the room that contained the Door to Darkness. Mordred observed the capsules that were supposed to contain the Princesses of Heart. Ever since he heard of them, the Nobody had been wondering how they might factor into his plan. Hearts that contain not a speck of Darkness. Any of them could be the Catalyst he needed to activate Eden. However, finding them would be a task in and of itself. Especially since kidnapping was likely going to set off alarms for every Hero on the worlds. No, Mordred would need a plan before going on a clandestine task such as that. The Nobody walked up the stairs, his footsteps echoing off the stone as the sun shone through a hole made in the ceiling. He then looked over the machine that lay dormant. If one were to try to open the Door to Darkness, this device would require extensive fixing. Mordred continued his inspection, hoping to find some clue that would help him.

Pete found himself wandering the corridors of Maleficent's castle. It was technically still her castle, even if they did do most of their scheming in other worlds now. They'd found themselves traveling a lot since the Nobodies became a problem. Pete was actively looking for her now, though, and he thought she might just be in her old stomping grounds.
"Maleficent!....Maleficent!..."
Pete heard nothing in return but the echoes of his own voice. He did notice something odd, though. The Heartless seemed restless. Almost as if someone was in the castle. It probably had his hopes up more than they should be. It was probably that kid and those nitwits he's always traveling around with. He could see them showing up just to be a thorn in Pete's side. The further he went into the castle, even after passing their usual meeting places, the more they seemed to be alert. Pete had discovered that the Heartless were like wild animals in that regard, they tended to be more active in the place of people among the Light.
He was approaching the tail end when he could have sworn he'd heard something faint off in the distance. It sounded like a shuffling of feet or something, and he was pretty sure it wasn't Heartless, because they're generally quiet.
"Maleficent?!..."
Pete called out in his usual obnoxiously loud voice. Hopefully, she was near and would have direction for him.

Mordred turned his head, his golden bangs peeking out from beneath from his hood. Maleficent? That was a name he read about in Xemnas's Computer. A dark fairy of incredible power, one even the upper echelons of the Organization were wary of dealing with. Mordred sensed the Heart that called it for this Maleficent. It was steeped in Darkness, but also weak, far weaker than Mordred would imagine a minion of Maleficent would be. Or perhaps he was giving this one too little credit. Mordred walked towards the railing that protected those from falling to the lower part of the room and jumped onto the railing, balancing on it almost effortlessly. As the creature called out again, Mordred noted that it sounded like the voice belonged to a rather big creature. The Nobody would have to be on his guard until he could get a good measure of this creature.
"Maleficent is no longer here in this decrepit carcass of a stronghold." Mordred's voice was cold and indifferent but loud enough to be heard. "Who are you to walk among the creatures of the dark? Come out and show yourself if you are without fear." Mordred adjusted his glasses and activated them, scanning for the Heart that cried out for its Master. He wouldn't be able to gather much more than a Heart signature until the creature showed itself, but it would have to do for now. If this being tried anything funny, well, Mordred would be ready to strike back.

As Pete was rounding the corner to that room with the technicolor, heart-shaped portal, he heard a voice call back toward him. It claimed that Maleficent was no longer here, and demanded that Pete come out immediately. Who was this wise guy to demand something like that of the great Pete?! The large anthropomorphic cat strutted right into the room, where he saw a blond haired man in a black cloak with glasses. He musta been some kind of Organization knock off.
"Who do you think you are? Yer talking to the great Pete: commander of Maleficent's Heartless Army! What's a numbskull like you doing in her castle!"
Pete had half a mind to make a Heartless outta this guy. Or at least use him to make a Heartless out of other people. Yeah, that was a great idea! This guy didn't know who he was messing with.
"You must be the guy what's got all the Heartless riled up."
Judging his physical stature, the guy didn't look like much. He was scrawny and probably one of them book nerds based off his appearance. However, he'd seen some shrimpy guys with Organization XIII, and most of them were pretty tough guys, as he remembered it. For now, Pete would simply stand his ground and let this guy talk before he knocked him right in the kisser, or, better yet, had the Heartless do it for him.

Mordred cast his glare upon the mysterious cat being before him. He had a rough way of speaking and he referred to himself as a commander of an army of Heartless. Mordred was less than impressed and even less afraid. Luckily, the creature identified itself before Mordred's computerized glasses could inform him of the same thing. He turned the miniature computer off with a tap of his glasses and he jumped down, landing on the ground and legs unbroken by the rather long fall he had to take. He walked towards Pete, undaunted by the creature's size, until he was a yard or so away from him. "Hmph... a commander of Heartless. That is not a title I would be so proud of. All you can do is aiming the horde like a piece of artillery. The Heartless are incapable of tactics beyond a simple ambush. They have no formations nor do they have discipline. They listen to you only because they listen to the strongest. I merely do not bother to debase myself in such a manner." This Pete... he acted tough but what was he capable of, aside from using the Heartless for his own benefit?
"As for why I'm here... well, I originally wasn't here for this... 'castle', if you can call it that. However, circumstances drove me elsewhere. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything worth my time here. Perhaps that Door to Darkness, but alas, it is broken beyond repair." Mordred stared at Pete. "So... you are among those who would contribute to the end of everything. You can't be the only one, though. Your Heart is much too weak to be such a mastermind, even if it's steeped in Darkness. This... Maleficent must be the true commander of the Heartless. Though... somehow I doubt her strength if you are the only lackey she can safely control." If this was her castle, surely it would be better inhabited. Or better repaired anyways. Regardless, Mordred was not going to back down before this "Pete". He may be rather scrawny, but that didn't mean he was weak.

Whoever this guy was, he sure liked to talk. He began by talking bad about the Heartless, referring to them as incapable of tactice. Why, Pete used tactics with them all the time. His favorite was the ambush..Wait, didn't he just say that's all they could do? Well, he could also launch a frontal assault... Again, that kinda fit with what he was saying. Really, those were Pete's favorite maneuvers, but they were also the only ones he knew. He normally just built up a large force and attacked, or lured some unsuspecting nitwit into an ambush.
"These here Heartless are feared throughout all the worlds!"
It was then that the scrawny guy started talking bad about Maleficent. The nerve of this guy! Pete owed Maleficent for saving him from the Lanes Between. He couldn't let some pipsqueak talk bad about her.
"Hahahaha! Maleficent's got allies across all the worlds! Why, there's Hades, and Jafar, and Scar, but I guess he's gone now."
If this guy continued to run his mouth, Pete would have to make a Heartless outta him! He'd make a fine addition to Maleficent's army. She might even tell Pete he did a good job!
Then, Pete realized something. He'd talked about an interest in the Door to Darkness. Why, Pete could take him to the Realm of Darkness himself if he wanted to. There, the Heartless would make mincemeat outta him! He hadn't been there for the opening of it to know what had truly happened beyond it, but to his understanding the Door to Darkness led to the Realm of Darkness.
"Ha! That door only works with them there Princesses of Heart!"
At that, Pete puffed out his chest and pointed his thumb at himself.
"But I can get you there lickity split!"

"Only feared by those without the means to defeat them. And those capable of fear." While Mordred did not have the means to defeat Heartless in a more permanent manner, he was certainly not fearful of them. As it turned out, he feared their supposed commander even less. Pete then began to name Maleficent's allies, before leaving a comment that some of them might be dead. How... helpful. Sure, Mordred had heard the names before on Xemnas's computer but it was nice to have proof that they were all working together. An entire council to aid the Heartless... this trip was more informative than he had planned it for. "I see, how helpful of you to give me the names of your allies without force. Perhaps next you will tell me their weaknesses to defeat them even easier. Your Mistress must be so pleased with you." It was rare that Mordred was capable of being sarcastic. Pete was just one of those types capable of bringing that out of the normally emotionless Mordred. Truly, great achievements could be had with monumental ignorance.
Pete then mentioned that the Door to Darkness could only be opened by the Princesses of Heart. Truly, Pete was a wealth of information that wouldn't shut up. Mordred made a mental note to find minions with the capability of being quiet. "I am already aware of this, Pete." Pete's big mouth seemed to not just be for show. Then, the idiot offered to send Mordred there. He sighed and shook his head. "... I would much rather tear out my own eyes then accept help from someone so imbecilic and loose-lipped as you. Do you believe I'm so stupid that I would trust you with safe passage into the Realm of Darkness? Only a fool would accept such help, which is probably why you came up with that plan." Mordred adjusted his glasses as he continued glaring at the fat cat. "Now... stand aside. I already tire of this place and your presence only compels me to leave this place faster."

Mordred wanted to stand there and talk about how Pete was too eager to give out information on Maleficent and her gang. It didn't matter, because he wasn't gonna leave here without going through the commander of her Heartless Army. He then insulted Pete and told him that only an idiot would come up with a plan like that. Well, that got Pete fuming. He wasn't going to use this guy to make Heartless anymore. Now, he'd just turn him into a Heartless himself.
"Not so fast there, pallie! I ain't done with you yet. Why ol' Pete here's gonna turn you into a Heartless!"
At that, Pete summoned a squadron of Heartless to surround Mordred. Three Armored Knight Heartless appeared alongside four Soldier Heartless. Pete was sure these guys would be all that he needed to overwhelm this wise guy! He held back his head and gave out a hearty laugh before they attacked.
"These guys are gonna make mincemeat outta you!"
At that, one of the Soldier Heartless attempted to jump in and use one of his claws to strike at Mordred. One of the Armored Knights followed right in and attempted to use his bladed arm to thrust at the intruder to combo off of this. These Heartless were sure to do the trick, and Pete wouldn't even have to lift a finger to make this guy pay.

Mordred just continued to stare at Pete, as still as a statue. He didn't even flinch when the Heartless were called. So... he was going to try to add to his army, huh? "... Impulsive... weak... and worst of all, incompetent." The Soldier jumped up and reared his claw back to cut into Mordred's flesh. However, Mordred's hand shot out and grabbed the Soldier by the head. As he continued to speak, Mordred's vice-like grip on the soldier's head made cracks in its helmet, bits of it flying off as it flailed uselessly. "To give one such as you the title of 'commander'... your mistress must be truly hopeless or in denial of how utterly pathetic you are." Mordred then blocked the Armored soldier's thrust... with the Soldier in his hand, which finally ceased its flailing. "You can't even discern for yourself what I am. If you did..." Suddenly, Pete would've felt something akin to a sledgehammer impact with his chest. Mordred had sped past the Heartless and to Pete's location, leaving behind a trail of static-y afterimages. The Nobody had also punched Pete mid-Glory of Motion, adding his speed to his already Kinetic Energy imbued strength. His fist dug into Pete's chest cavity as he finished his sentence. "You'd know turning me into a Heartless is impossible."
Mordred then carried through with the rest of his punch, intending to send sailing Pete sailing into the castle and, ideally, through it. After that, Mordred looked over his shoulder and put his hands in his pockets. The Heartless were still there, ready to attack. Had the Nobody the capacity for pity, Mordred might have felt a slight pang for them. To be used as toys so another could play at power... it was almost sad. Mordred gathered Kinetic Energy into his foot and then, spun on the ball of his free foot, letting loose a Kinetic Blade from his sweep kicking foot, intending slaughter the whole lot of them with one attack. It might not work, but it could get the point across. Mordred then turned his head to Pete, his scarlet eyes piercing into the dense creature again. "For you... I might actually take your Heart now. It's clear you can get no stronger and the evidence I have seen is that you're nothing more than a hindrance. Really, I'd be doing your mistress a favor."

This guy wasn't just some normal guy, Pete quickly understood that as he grabbed the Soldier and used him as a shield for the Armored Knight as the lesser Heartless disappeared in a puff of black smoke. He mentioned something about it not being possible for him to become a Heartless, but that couldn't be true, not unless this guy was either already a Heartless or a Nobody. Pete already knew everyone in the Organization, and he knew they were all gone.
He quickly saw as his assailant lunged toward him, attempting to blast him in the chest with an attack. Pete quickly put up a golden shield around him, completely protecting him from all harm in a bubble-like Shield. Inside, he was completely protected, but unable to act any further himself.
"Yer gonna have to try harder than that to hurt ole Pete!"
Meanwhile, he saw Mordred release some kind of shockwave towards the Heartless. The Soldiers were all completely vanquished, but the Armored Knights managed to withstand the attack, but seemed to be heavily damaged anyway. Pete could only stand and watch as the two of them that hadn't attacked previously, attacked the robed intruder in unison with a pair of lunging slashes.
Pete would most likely have to fight himself as soon as his shield faded, but he took his time, hoping the Heartless would weaken his opponent before he would have to be involved himself.

Mordred's eyes narrowed at Pete. His shield had protected him from Mordred's punch. Quite interested, possibly some magic he inherited from Maleficent. Mordred started to walk towards Pete, a stride that indicated that he was not deterred by the shield one bit. "You wish to test my power? So be it. If you are too cowardly to fight me, then I will MAKE you-" Mordred then sighed. The Armored Knight were getting ready to attack. Mordred raised his hand and, as the Knights leapt at him from behind, he casually flicked two of his fingers. Suddenly, a massive piece of rubble rocketed from the ground and straight at the Knights, intercepting the two Heartless rather painfully. This was getting to be rather pathetic. Such a cowardly, weak-Hearted individual didn't deserve to exist. Mordred's arm dropped back down to his side. "As I was saying, if you are too cowardly to fight me, then I will MAKE you fight me." Mordred continued his advance, giving the aura of a predator finally cornering his prey.
Mordred's right arm became surrounded by a swirling vortex. It seemed like some sort of wind spell and indeed, it seemed to churn and roil the air around it. However, it was not wind, but pure, chaotic Kinetic energy that produced this Vortex. Once Mordred got near Pete, he unleashed a devastating Dispelling Blow at him. The churning, chaotic energies interacted with the Shield rather violently, causing it to shatter as Mordred's punch continued to try and connect with Pete's face. After that move, Mordred's arm latched onto Pete's throat like a strike from a snake. Mordred then tried to force Pete to stand as his grip tightened around Pete's throat. "Such... a waste, you are. Even from what little time I have spent with you, I can see you a nothing but a disappointment. To be honest, what I'm doing is a mercy. Just submit and you will finally be at peace, away from your failings, away from the strings that Maleficent uses to make you dance for her. You simply have no idea how in over your head you are. Such a fool of a creature. If I could, I'd almost feel pity for you."
------------
Dispelling Blow: Mordred gathers turbulent Kinetic Energy into one of his limbs. Mordred then strikes his opponent with a damaging blow, causing Heavy Damage. Not only that, but the vortex of Kinetic Energy disperses and plays havoc with any positive Magical buffs currently on the opponent, dispelling them instantly and activating their cooldowns. There was a time that an undyingly faithful flunky was worth something to her but truly but in the case of Pete, she'd have taken a pet dog with a penchant for wetting itself out of excitement first. He was barely a step up from the forest goblins of her original home world. The only thing she could say to his defense truly was that he was true to his word on his loyalty to her for breaking out of Queen Minnie's bindings. For the most part she'd tasked Pete with assessing the worlds of some of their past allies to see where chaos no longer reigned and to see if he could spark the darkness back to it's keep on those worlds. It kept his irritating mouth far away from her while she worked on something far more sinister.
Maleficent sensed the presence in the vale though she was nowhere near it at the time. What was left of those crumbling rooms still held her magical influence though it was weakening. It was not uncommon for fools to occasionally venture into the castle were they unfortunate enough to stumble on the entrance to it. The sorceress didn't spend much of her time there anymore but sometimes the spider could still catch wandering flies into an old web.
Another presence made itself known, calling to her. Her hope was that Pete could deal with the intruder on his own but it became pretty clear when she began to sense the old cat's distress that he could not. With a sigh she allowed herself to slip into the realm of darkness pulled by where she was needed and she manifested from an inky blackness in the center of the room. The orb of her staff and her eyes were aglow with her magical prowess as she beheld this stranger with a hand wrapped around the throat of her general. Her servant. From her staff, she sent forth a devastating burst of fire, her raw crackling energy imbued within it. "I've no use for a mere shell in my castle. You are but an insect poking among the shadows!" with a rais of her palm, polished fingernails toward the dilapidated roof, six neoshadows rose up from the floor bearing their claws. "Leave, VERMIN!" Every last one of the Neoshadows dove into the floor only to return just inches away from the Nobody unleashing their onslaught.

Mordred barely felt any remorse or regret as he continued to slowly introduce Pete to oblivion. He seemed barely able to resist. Was this truly a creature that someone else relied upon. Mordred would've barely relied on this thing to find food without tripping over itself. Pitiful. It was then that Mordred smelled it. The overwhelming stench of Darkness, coalescing into a form behind him. This couldn't possibly be anyone other than the owner of the castle. Pete must have called out to her, as a mewling child would to its mother. Sure enough, the Mistress of all Evil appeared, trying to insult Mordred by calling him "a mere shell." What sort of pointless remark was that? It's what he was, why should he feel insulted by it? Though, it would seem that even she was misinformed about the nature of Nobodies. Many were, it would seem. Oh well. Mordred wasn't exactly in a hurry to correct Maleficent. She then set to work in trying to expel Mordred from her castle by casting a Firaga spell. Well then. The Nobody would have to pay attention to her. He dropped Pete like a sack of potatoes and closed his eyes. The Firaga rocketed towards him and it would look like Mordred would be burnt to a crisp.
Then the spell slowed down, more and more until it could be barely be considered to be moving at a crawl. Mordred had erected his Kinetic Barrier in time to catch the Firaga spell. Mordred simply stared at the spell, as if contemplating its existence. "You must be Maleficent. I take this little spell to mean you don't get much in the way of guests. How very unsurprising." Then the Dark Mistress summoned more Heartless. Mordred noted that they were a level far higher than what Pete could muster, as would be expected of Maleficent's caliber. To think, Mordred worried this would be too easy. Mordred reached out and telekinetically grabbed Maleficent's own Firaga spell. As the Neoshadows pounced on their intended target, Mordred swung the Firaga spell around, not caring if it hit Pete or not, spinning in place before throwing it at the Neoshadows. Once it impacted, he used the smoke and dust to speed through it and appear in an instant behind Maleficent, leaning against a pillar.
"Vermin, you say? The only vermin I see, Maleficent, is that great big lout you call a servant." Mordred stared at Maleficent without fear, but also indifferent to the insult. "I honestly don't know what use you see of him. For instance, most servants would know not to give the names of every person you ally with to a complete stranger. Well, perhaps not every person, but a few interesting names popped up. Hades, Jafar... Scar. I didn't even torture it out of him. It would be so simple to discern the names of others in your little organization. A shame. You'd think he'd learn a little discretion. If I were you, I wouldn't degrade myself by keeping around tools that can't even do their job properly. But then again, I'm not you, am I?" Mordred looked around the castle and sighed. "Regardless, I didn't exactly come here to give a lecture. I have another castle to investigate. However, I will say that this has been an... illuminating experience. At the very least, I can be sure that the title, 'Mistress of All Evil' is well earned." Mordred then gave one last soulless look at Maleficent, then at Pete, before turning to leave. Whether he did leave peacefully, however, would be entirely dependent on the behavior of Maleficent.

Kinetic Barrier: Mordred extends an invisible dome around himself that can also move with him, no matter the speed or distance. This dome protects Mordred, but not by stopping projectiles. Instead, when projectiles enter the field, they slow down to a near crawl, no matter what speed they were travelling previously. While Mordred can dodge them, he can use the kinetic energy that is ambient in the dome to "catch" the projectile and forcing it to take its path elsewhere. Usually, this means back towards the one who shot the projectile to begin with, but it can be towards an obstacle of some sort. Once the projectile is redirected and escapes the dome, it regains its original speed. The damage of the projectile remains unchanged and Mordred can only use this ability on physical projectiles medium-sized and below (so most conventional weaponry and ammo) and magical projectiles "-aga" level and below. The Kinetic Barrier does not slow down enemies themselves or melee attacks. [Uses: 9] [Cooldown: 4 posts]

Maleficent watched through narrowed eyes as her Neoshadows moved and her Firaga spell was gathered in some way and swung toward the neoshadows. Only two of them were fast enough to sink back into the stone tile quick enough to avoid the flame, but the others were easily dispatched. That was unsurprising given that it was her spell in the first place. Still it was quite concerning that this young man could steal a spell in such a way.
When the smoke cleared and the impudent boy spoke again. Maleficent turned slowly, the neoshadows creeping up to move directly in front of her like faithful canines. All three pairs of eyes, as well as a smaller beadier pair of them from the raven perched on her shoulder, stared the man down as he prattled on about Pete's failings. While it was no secret to her at all that the cat was an idiot, it was for her to decide the reasoning on it.
Oh this boy how he could certainly talk. It was an awful lot to be subjected to. "While Pete is indeed a bumbling oaf, he is mine to let live or destroy as is this place you so rudely decided you would invite yourself into. Who I ally myself with needs no discretion. Cowards who would wish to keep their alliance a secret in the first place are of little interest or use to me. I have the utmost confidence that should you make the mistake of tampering with any one of them they would be just as quick to dismiss you from their abodes as I am. I answer to no one. Can that be said for you?" Her eyes flickered toward her remaining two neoshadows and once again sank into the floor. Maleficent tapped the bottom of her staff on the stone floor before pointing the green orb still aglow at the blonde. "Your presence is irritating. More so than his." she tilted her head to indicate Pete. The neoshadows were creeping up to the stranger like sharks through the stone tile, their antenna and eyes seen through the inky dark.
