on the job now
"I really appreciate the help" The WRO Officer had insisted. "Obviously I can't go asking members of the squadron for help lest my superiors catch wind." He worried that undesireables may find the Materia.
Materia was the lifeblood of the Planet. Overuse can cause many problems for her so Materia has been restricted on all fronts. Only certain officers of the WRO squadrons could carry it and this blatant irresponsibility not only can cost him his rank, but if hooligans find it first it can mean civilians get hurt. Edge City was a big place, despite being only half the size of Midgar. It could bee anywhere as WRO patrol routes stretch from highway to highway. Luckily the two are given a hint.
His routes were on the Eastern side of the city. Good luck.

My chosen torture makes me stronger
"Right, right." Sophia stated waved off the WRO officer. In all honesty, she didn't accept this job because she wanted to help the man. She didn't even really accept it for the money. In her very short time on this world since she traveled here, she heard a little bit about this "materia." From what she gathered, it was a very powerful tool that enabled non-mages to cast spells as if they were a mage.
Such a thing was worth investigating. 'If uncle knew about the existence of materia, he'd probably want it destroyed.' She thought, amused. Her uncle, being the Archmage of Terre'noire, wanted to keep an iron grip on power in the magic-centered world. If he knew of the existence of a little crystal that enabled a non-mage to cast spells... he might view that as a threat to his power. Paying attention to the task at hand, however, Sophia turned to Rina. "So, I guess we're gonna be working together. Name's Sophia. Nice to meet ya."
She kept her introduction simple. Once the two were introduced, she smirked confidently. "Eastern side of the city, right? As long as we know the general area, it should be easy to find." While Sophia had not seen materia in person before, she had it explained to her. A small, colored crystal. Typically round like a sphere. Nice and simple.
This is bad. This is bad. This. Is. So. BAD. What was I thinking? Rina was hoping that she was keeping a calm demeanor on the outside, because she was absolutely freaking out on the inside. It was all a big misunderstanding, this whole thing. Rina had only come down here to pick pocket some of the big wigs that she knew would hang around the WRO. Not this! She knew it was a matter of time before someone recognized her and she’d be in big trouble then.
The white-haired girl in front of her who would be her partner in this had just introduced herself. Her name was Sophia. She seemed very cool and collected, unlike Rina, who was probably about to start sweating bullets. “Hey. M-my name is Rina. And yeah, the Eastern side. I know my way around pretty well.”
Rina dusted her hands off on her jeans and then pointed over to the exit. “I’m ready whenever you are.” I want to get the hell out of here. As soon as possible…

My chosen torture makes me stronger
Sophia raised her eyebrow at Rina as she introduced herself. Her nerves appeared to be more than slightly rattled. What could she have done, Sophia wondered. She seemed like a nice enough girl. She Had a pretty face; the kind of face that would make one feel like she was incapable of performing less than scrupulous acts. Sophia herself had a very similar face.
She often wondered if she was picked for her role for that reason as well as her pure magical blood. an unassuming girl with a pretty face could go places a man couldn't. She considered that a blessing of her birth, though with what she had to endure before, it might be just as much of a curse. Her expression soon turned to a smile as Rina finished her introduction.
"Charmed." When the girl mentioned that she knew her way around pretty well, Sophia gave her an approving nod. "Lovely. This shouldn't take long, then." Standing aside, she gestured for Rina to take the lead. "Since you know this place and I do not, I think it would make sense for you to take the lead, don't you think?" She winked at her partner playfully.
Sophia couldn't help but toy with Rina a bit. Her demeanor was too cute for her to resist. Sophia enjoyed watching people squirm in uncomfortable situations. It was sometimes nice for her to not be the only one who was uncomfortable... being hunted, one would take as many opportunities as presented to have a good time and unwind.

Rina held up her finger, gesturing to take a minute. “Hold up. Got to do something.” Hopefully this will work…
Usually Rina had her long black hair tied up into a ponytail to keep it out of the way, but today was different. If anyone knew her around here, they would recognize her in a heartbeat. In what was probably 2 minutes or less, Rina had taken down her ponytail and fixed her hair, so it went straight down her back, save for two small buns that adorned the top of her head like a crown. Then she took off her favorite leather jacket (also a staple of hers that everyone knew about) and tossed it into a nearby trash can, leaving her in her tank top. It pained her to do that, because it left her scarred arms and back exposed, but her and Sophia’s safety mattered more than her comfort. Rina hoped that these small changes would keep people from noticing her around town. “God, I hope I can find another jacket like that. Alright, Sophia. Let’s go find us some materia.”
Sophia waited, tapping her foot idly as she waited on Rina to let down her hair and take off her jacket. While the battlemage would have simply preferred to get to work, she figured there must have been a reason she was doing this. Perhaps she was trying to disguise herself? That was a distinct possibility. Interestingly enough, Lady War's partner appeared to have a rough experience or two, her back and her arms scarred up like she was some sort of war veteran.
Whether by accident, by battle, or even by torture, Sophia wasn't sure how she came to be so scarred. It seemed like maybe she and her partner had something in common, however. A small smile forming on her lips. If it wasn't for her superior healing, she too would probably have many scars. But thus was the privilege of a monster like her. Sophia bowed slightly to Rina when she announced the start of their mission. "After you, then." She looked up at Rina with a grin.
