The bongo drums from down the beach could be heard even from a half mile away. However, Alessandro knew that partying with a bunch of kids wouldn't exactly fit Tseng's request to 'lay low'. Hell, he shouldn't even be on Costa del Sol right now, but what else was there for him to do.
It'd been awhile since they had dealt with AVALANCHE, the original AVALANCHE not the terrorists who knocked out a couple reactors, and Alessandro had been out of work for over a year now. He spent some time bouncing for a couple shady bars in the slums of Sector 4, but he'd not had a steady job since then. Now, he sat on the beach in a pair of colorful trunks and a small white t-shirt on a stool at a cocktail bar.
"Yeah, I'll take another one..."
Alessandro pulled out his wallet to count what he had left of his 'severance package' from Shin-Ra, and, not surprisingly he only had a few hundred gil left to his name. He needed to find work, bad. Alex pulled out his PHS and opened up the contacts on his phone. After scrolling through a few names he stopped at Don Corneo. The man was as shady as they came, but hell he paid better than Shin-Ra by a good bit, but the illegal jobs usually did.
It took him a moment, but, as an opaque drink with mint leaves was sat in front of him, he stopped again on Tseng. He owed this man his life, but it was also partially on him that he couldn't find work. Part of being told to lay low, which was the only thing Tseng could do to not have Alex and the rest of the Turks at that time executed, meant he couldn't use his name, and, therefore, his legal paper to get an actual job with a paycheck.
"Thanks, chief."
Alessandro sat, looking at his phone for job listings, with his back to the bar. He had hidden in the back of his pants his two Twin Magnums, just in case someone else came looking for revenge over something he may or may not have done to their family. Most commonly, he did do it...
Alessandro was amazing at one thing, shooting the pistols at his back with a deadly accuracy. While he was working for Corneo he had earned a reputation that said "by the time you can see his guns, you are already dead." That deadly accuracy earned him an amazing job working for Don Corneo's crime syndicate, and, much later, Shin-Ra as a Turk. That was then; this is now, and, now, he was jobless.

Rina stepped out of the dressing tent and into the glaring sun. Even though she had on sunglasses and a black sunhat it still took a minute for her eyes to adjust. When she could properly see she started to make her way across the golden sand. Rina hadn't been to Costa del Sol in years and she was amused to see it hadn't changed at all. Just her. She was the only thing that was different. Her eyes scanned the horizon until she found what she was looking for. A small bar that used to sell the best tequila. Gods, I hope they still have it.
To be perfectly honest this was the opposite of what Rina should be doing. She should have been scouring The Planet looking for a job. No job equaled no money, and no money meant no way home. Rina was stuck between a rock and a broken down piece of sh-...well. At least the air conditioning still worked. She should have considered herself blessed, except for the fact that this place was way too close to where old enemies lived. She needed to get out of here ASAP. But first a drink. That always solves problems.
"Um...hi. Can I get some tequila in a coconut? Thank you."
If the bartender's eyes lingered too long between the laces of the front of her bathing suit or the crown of flowers that encircled her upper thigh, Rina didn't let it her bother her. She learned a long time ago that there was a difference between an innocent peek and a predatory one. She knew how to handle both. Besides, Rina was proud of her body. Or at least the parts she let people see. She always made sure that her arms and back were hid from prying eyes. They always stared at her scars. A thin white dress shirt covered her now. It made her look cute and it was efficient. Rina paid the bartender (with what was legitimately the last of her gil) and took a seat next to a man with an interesting hairdo and his eyes glued to a cellphone. She took a sip of her drink and couldn't help but comment on him.
"Nice hair. It's real...spiky."
Rina internally winced. Good ice breaker, dumbass. You could have did that more smoothly...
Rina was never good at introductions.

Locksmith...nope. Could he be a mechanic? Not unless it was repairing a .44 magnum that was jamming due to a corroded materia chamber. Man, where was the job listings for badass, gun-wielding, legally dead, former Turk? Alessandro felt like he'd been skipping the wanted ads for hours, partially due to his impatience. In reality, he'd been there just twenty minutes and had only finished his first cocktail.
Alessandro was so focused into his task that he hardly even noticed the young woman seat next to him with...AN ENTIRE COCONUT FULL OF TEQUILA?! Even his beat-em-up female martial artist co-worker wouldn't order an entire coconut full of tequila. He quietly pulled the pink umbrella from his drink. No sense in this woman looking manlier than he was in this moment, even though Alex liked the way the Mojito tasted. He quietly finished his drink and nodded to the bartender, shoving his glass forward. As he did, the woman next to him said something about his hair.
"Wow..that is...bad."
On a scale of one to ten that was a solid negative two. That was not the smoothest introduction he'd heard. His mind went back to that time at the Honeybee Inn a 'dancer' came up to him as he was wasted. Of course his mind went to "You wanna get a pizza and (@*%?" He learned a valuable lesson that day, don't drink and try to pick up an exotic dancer.
"I'll let ya try that one over."
Alessandro scrolled over another entry on his phone until he came up on bodyguard. Now, there was something he could do. He tapped the link and it opened up a page for a pop icon who was to be performing in Edge. He'd done security for Corneo for ages, so this could be the perfect oppor- They required a background check. Great, that meant his fake ID would be scanned and come and red flag in their system. That was out.
"...I guess I can try to be a locksmith..."
He looked back over at the woman drinking a vat of freakin' tequila.
"Corel is only a couple hours drive from here, right?"

Still reeling from her stupid comment Rina hid her face by taking a long sip from her coconut. The tequila was the smoothest she had ever had and slipped past her tongue as easily as water did. She'd have to be careful not to get...incapacitated. Drunk, broke, and stranded was not a good idea at the moment. Rina could feel that her cheeks were flushed, but she wasn't sure if it was because of her embarrassment or the alcohol.
"Haha...sorry about that. I'm not the best at introductions. I should have just started with hello." Whew. That was a lot better. Dammit, Rina. You make everything so weird.
Rina watched the man keep scrolling on his phone. It must have been very interesting, whatever it was he was looking at. She fished her phone out of her pocket as well. Earlier that day she had texted some old acquaintances about some jobs. She wanted some legitimate work, but knew that with her choices in contacts that would be a very tall order. She really didn't want to go back to her old ways. But as Rina scrolled through her messages, her heart began to sink. It looked like the only jobs around were hits on people. There weren't even any bounties. Just hits. Rina sighed dejectedly and beside her the man was grumbling about being a locksmith. He sounds like he's having job problems too.
Rina turned to look at him and they made eye contact with each other. He had asked her how far away Corel was.
"Umm. Yeah, I would say two hours. Give or take. Just depends on how fast you go. My name is Rina, by the way. I don't think I caught yours."

Alessandro was still intent on reading through the job posting. He wasn't really paying a whole lot of attention to the woman next to him, but it wasn't her fault at all. He desperately needed a new source of Gil. However, he slammed his drink down on the table, making a huge mess of things and he read the last line: "submit your application for a background check."
"Ah, what the hell? Can't a man get a job these days without a freaking scan? I swear I'm about to go see Tseng myself."
Oh yeah, the woman next to him had said something... She gave her name but he couldn't recall it to save his life. Oh, this was going to be bad.
"Uh, hey Tina...Name's Aless-Um...Alex Smith."
And in his short tempered outburst he nearly gave out the name of a Turk who should rightly be dead. He really needed to stop almost spilling the beans to random strangers. Eventually, he would figure it out or the beings running ShinRa now would figure it out. If the latter happened, Alessandro would be executed before he could even defend himself.
"So..uh...sorry about that. Did I get any on you?"
Alex looked down to see he'd splashed alcohol everywhere. He'd heard the bartender mumble something about cutting him off, to which Two Guns could easily say he deserved it. Alex leaned across the bar and grabbed a damp towel from the bartender's shoulder and began to wipe up his own mess, waiting for the woman to either slap him upside the face or laugh it off. He probably deserved the slap, to be honest.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ The violent action that man made with his drink glass startled Rina and made her jump a little. He didn’t notice though, because he was still absorbed in his employment misfortunes. Rina could relate to that. She didn’t know what she was going to do either. Rina did a quick scroll through her messages again. Nope, still hits. Dammit.
After calling Rina by the wrong name (Humph. Thanks a lot.) the dark-haired man had finally introduced himself. His name was Alex. This made Rina smile a little. It was a sad smile though. She had been married to an Alex before. It was even here on Gaia, years back. It didn’t end well, because nothing ever ended well for Rina. He was the one who taught her how to fight and make a living though. It was one of the few good things that came of their union. Rina took a sip from her coconut chasing away the sad thoughts before they even began. She wasn’t going to do this, not now.
Alex began cleaning up his mess and asked her if he had splashed her. Rina shook her head no, but noticed that her phone had a couple drops of his drink on the screen. She dabbed them up on her finger and licked them off, making a face at the taste of the drink.
“Ew. Lime. I don’t like lime. And my name is Rina. With an R. Not Tina. Do I look like a Tina to you?”, the girl said in a joking tone. She looked back down at her phone with a smile and then suddenly had an idea.
“Hey. Did you mention working for Tseng? Like Tseng of the Turks?” Rina had made sure she had lowered her voice this time, because you never knew who was listening. She had learned that the hard way. “Um…if you’re into that sort of…work I might be able to help you.” | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"]

Alessandro had really done it now. In his carelessness he had spilled the name of Tseng and it could potentially cost him dearly. Unfortunately, she recalled the name of the big shot Turk. This was bad. At hearing her recognition he sprayed the sweet and sour drink all over the bar. Without saying anything, he began wiping down the bar again.
"Oh...&$!%.."
The color had completely drained from his face and, for the first time in a while, he could actually say he was afraid. Shin-Ra was the kind of group that had ears everywhere. It was highly possible that they even had ears on this tiny little shack of a bar in Costa del Sol. They were kinda like Big Brother like that.
"So..you know Tseng? Um.."
He didn't really know what to say. He had already let the cat out of the bag so he might as well spill the beans in an attempt to get her to shut up about it. If he told her 'hey wait I'm supposed to be dead' then there was a chance she would understand and drop it completely.
"So..yeah..I was a Turk. Things went south during the Wutai thing and my team cleaned things up. However, Tseng kinda had orders to see to it that a few less Turks returned after we took down Zirconaide. You probably heard something about that...media can't really cover up something that huge too well."
Alessandro was rambling on, and he should really start shutting up. If she remained ignorant on some details, then Rina could remain innocent if she were interrogated.
"Anyway, I'm not who I say I am, and its better if that's all you know. Now, keep that to yourself or we're both probably on the Turks' hit list."

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina just stood at the man in shock for well over a minute. She was sure her eyes were wide and furiously blinking. She hadn’t been expecting this outpouring of truth from Alex. And it wasn’t just truth that he was oozing either. Rina could hear the fear and paranoia in his voice and when she looked at him she could see how scared he really was. What she thought was an innocent question, was obviously a very touchy spot with the young man.
“Wow…um. I…hm. I’ll just pretend I didn’t hear any of that, okay? Look, I’ve been gone from here for a really long time. I’m not really in the Current Events loop. I didn’t know most of what you just said. I just though that since you knew…” you know who” you might be in a certain line of work. I’ve heard stories. Don’t worry…Alex. Your secrets are safe with me.” Rina touched his shoulder reassuringly. She had just realized that Alex probably wasn’t the man’s real name and that even though he had spilled a lot, he hadn’t spilled everything. He was right. The less she knew, the better.
“Anyway, I’ve probably been on the Turks’ hit list for a while. They haven’t got me yet.” She took a deep breath, letting it out fast. Knock on wood.

Alessandro took the bar towel and quietly finished wiping up the remainder of his mess. It also gave him a brief moment to reflect on things. Rina would be fine, most likely, as long as she kept her mouth shut. However, Alex couldn't live like this anymore. He was tired of always living under the radar. He did it for years under Corneo, but he left that life behind.
"I'm just gonna go see Tseng myself. Its about time for me to step out of the shadows again."
Alessandro took a brief glimpse at his phone before he turned to the young woman.
"I've got about an hour before the next ferry to Junon takes off. I need some liquid courage."
Alessandro motioned to the bartender, pointing at both his and Rina's drinks. After a brief moment, the bartender sat down two drinks identical to the ones they'd had before. Alessandro quickly grabbed his and drained the glass of all but the ice left over.
"I never asked, what brings you here? Business or a vacation?"
The former turk had a little time to kill, so he might as well get to know this woman some more. She obviously knew of Tseng, so she could very well be in a similar line of work to what he had spent his whole life doing. If so, he might be able to bring her to the Turks as well.

Liquid courage? Liquid courage won’t stop a bullet if one were inclined to put one in you, but okay. "I never asked, what brings you here? Business or a vacation?"
“Oh uh.” Rina shrugged slightly. “A little bit of both, I would say. There’s this house I want to buy., but I have legitimately no more gil. So I thought I would poke around for a job. The second coconut..full of straight tequila...was quickly passed back to Alessandro. The young maiden, Rina, had quickly giggled something about the former Turk needing the liquid courage more than she did. She was right, he had a daunting task ahead of him, and it could quickly go wrong with disastrous results. Alessandro quickly drained the coconut with a grin, and immediately felt the burn of the alcohol throughout his chest and throat. With a quick shake of his head, as if it provided some sort of relief, he finally opened his mouth.
"Uh..WOW! That's strong!"
She then went on about how she'd come here looking for housing, but the steep housing market of the area had her strapped for cash, so she was hunting for a job. Alessandro grinned, as he knew plenty that would hire a woman with a great body like hers and a pretty smile to boot, but he knew that she wouldn't want to work for any of those scumbags.
"I doubt I know of any openings you'd want to fill, but I could always put in a word to Tseng while I'm over there if that's the line of work you're looking for."
Then, Two Guns was caught completely off guard. She'd been talking of taking on the sights around town, and he was certain he saw her give him a once over while talking of how much she liked what she was seeing. It made Alessandro do a double take for a moment. She was gorgeous, he had no doubts about that, and she already knew the basics of his situation. That was a plus.
"You know, as often as I've been here, the sights have never really impressed me...until about fifteen minutes ago."
With that, Alessandro kept his eyes forward, with a sly grin pointing on one side of his face. If she took the bait, he'd pony up some gil for a second ticket on the ship. Hell, he was feeling pretty confident at the moment that Tseng would help get him some kind of a job, even if it wasn't with the Turks.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina watched Alex with an amused face as he downed the alcohol. She began to giggle controllably as he made a face at the burn of the tequila in his body and exclaimed at the strength of the drink. She was nearly doubled over with laughter. He thinks he’s so tough, doesn’t he? So macho… "Alex! I-I didn’t mean for you to drink it all at once!” she exclaimed, through peals of laughter. He is something else… Some time later they continued to converse, and the former Turk seemed to sympathize with her misfortune and offered to put in a word with Tseng. Even though the sun was shining, and the temperature was perfectly warm, a cold chill ran down her back and made her shudder. Rina had been out of that “line of work” for a little while. It made her cold on the inside even just thinking about making a return to it. But Rina wasn’t in a position to be picky. A job was a job…and that was it. If she could make some quick cash it would be worth a little bit more of her soul, right? “Oh…wow. I would appreciate that, Alex. I really would.”
As the pair of them talked, Rina noticed that Alex’s eyes had been glancing over at her. More than once. Rina didn’t mind though. She had been ogling him almost as much and even attempted to flirt with him. She blushed deeply as he flirted back. It seemed the alcohol was loosening up both of their tongues, but Rina had a feeling that this man always talked smooth with the ladies.

Alessandro's mood had improved in these last few minutes. Thanks to the company sitting next to him, he had resolve to seek out Tseng and return to the Turks. It wasn't an easy thing to do, quite the contrary. He would have to be legally brought back to life. However, now seemed to be the right time for that. He'd heard the rumors: Shin-Ra was all but gone and the majority of the people behind the major electric company had gone with it. The WRO had become the new power on the Planet, and Tseng had become a major figurehead. Still, it was dangerous. Rufus Shinra hadn't been seen in some time, and most people have him pegged as dead. If that was the case, Alessandro shouldn't have any issues being reinstated.
"Of course, Tseng and I go all the way back to that nasty stuff that went down in Wutai. I'm sure he'd at least give you a good interview."
This was, of course, all banking on him NOT being shot on sight. He smiled at Rina, a warm, inviting smile. She had a lovely figure, and a very lovely personality. He found himself throwing a few 'what if' scenarios in his head, which widened his smile a little more as he took her in, really took in who he was sitting with. She had a beautiful physique, very athletic, but not overly so. If nothing else, he'd set sail and see where the waters took him, so to speak.
"You know, the cabins on these cruises across the sea aren't really meant for a person to take in solo. You might as well tag along, and take a trip to Junon with me. Ain't nothin' like the smell of the warm salty air when you're with great company."
And now nerves took hold of him. Alessandro found it funny that he could stare down the edge of his pistol without skipping a beat, but, right now, he wouldn't be able to hit a target at 100 meters with the way the old ticker was skipping around. His breathing was a little abnormal and he actually had a couple small beads of sweat on his brow, despite the cool ocean breeze. This was one of those few moments that he didn't know if he'd 'hit the mark.'

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina nodded thoughtfully as Alex mentioned he could get her an interview with Tseng. Rina sighed softly and looked down at her lap. I don’t want to get back into that…but do I really have a choice? Oh, how do I get into these messes? She looked back up at the man debating on whether she should go with him. She really shouldn’t. It was too dangerous. She didn’t come back to this place just to get herself killed. But…he changed her mind right then and there. He had a warm look in his dark eyes and Rina had a feeling that in whatever danger she might find herself in, he would probably keep her safe. Besides, it seemed like he wanted her to come along to Junon. Wanted her to enjoy the ocean trip with him. Well…I wouldn’t want to pass up on this. Would I? Have a little fun, Rina. Relax and enjoy yourself.Rina sighed and shook her head but smiled up at Alex. “Okay. I’ll go with you. It’ll be fun.” Her smile grew a little shy as she reached out and tucked a stray tendril of hair behind Alex’s ear. “I…I’ve never been on a cruise.” Rina’s heart was beating quickly in her chest. Why is he making me feel like this? How is he making me feel like this?

Alessandro had been shot down a time or two in all the attempts he'd made to seduce females over the years, and by time or two he obviously meant a couple dozen times or two. This, fortunately, was not one of those occasions. He felt the grin stretch from ear to ear upon his face as she accepted his offer to take a cruise with him. That was awesome! He had no doubt in his mind that this would be a very pleasant journey across the sea. Alex figured that, beneath the socially awkward persona she had presented thus far, she was probably a firecracker once she warmed up to him.
"Awesome! The cruise liner is an experience, for sure. Open bar, and five star dining included with the trip."
Call it a hunch, but they seemed to have a lot in common personality-wise. Only someone like him could drop all their adulting to go on a cruise with what little money they had left. Of course, a promising career lay waiting in Junon, that's if Tseng didn't shoot him on sight, but he wouldn't tell her that. If Rufus was indeed out of the picture, then there shouldn't be an issue. Nearly everyone who had been a department head had been killed in the WEAPON attack and Meteorfall, so he shouldn't have much to worry about.
"There's only a little over an hour before boarding starts. What do you say we meet at the docks then?"
At that, Alessandro pulled a half-empty pack of cigarettes from the pocket of his shorts, and a little blue lighter. He quickly lit a death stick and slid a small payment of Gil to the barkeep. It was clearly enough for both his drinks, and the young, very beautiful, brunette that had become the cause of the inconsistent rhythm beating within his chest.
"Barkeep! This should cover both tabs, keep the rest, my man. 'ppreciate ya!"
