Rina's eyes never left a forward direction as she gently landed her Gummi ship onto the sandy beach. Destiny Islands was a place she had heard of several times before but was never able to travel there until now. Rina closed her eyes as the sun shone on her as she exited her ship. The sun was bright and warm on her skin and there was a light breeze that shifted her hair and brought with it the smell of the ocean. The smell of old memories. Shrugging herself out of her jacket and setting it inside the ship, Rina finally opened her eyes blinking them to let them adjust. Allowing herself a small, nearly excited smile she also kicked off her boots before running a few feet down the beach, taking notice as she ran under a bridge that connected to a small island no wider than her Gummi Ship. She could see two palm trees growing on the mini island and could just barely make out the shape of a star-shaped fruit. A paopu. That's what she came here for she was sure of it, but that could wait. With a quiet sigh, Rina crumpled to the ground. She spread her arms and legs out so she was in the shape of a star and she basked. That's all she did. It had been so, so many years since she had been to the beach and she wanted to soak it all in. Literally. The warm ocean lapped at her feet and the backs of her bare legs, while her arms and face started to turn a light pink from the sun. Her breathing slowed and her thoughts with it, the only one that really stuck around was what brought her here. A nightmare. That's usually how all of her mornings started anyway, waking up to shake off the demons that plagued her in her dreams. But this time was different. This time the demons were fought off before she had woken up, by a great towering figure with the a large expanse of black wings. When she was finally awake, she was calmer than she had been in months. Maybe even a year. It had been nearly a year since...since her memory became fuzzy and she wasn't sure what she had forgotten and if the things she hardly remembered even happened to begin with. It really freaked her out, but it was something she tried not to dwell on. Until now. After she tried to play through her nightmare to pick out details she realized the only she could really remember were the wings. And that was one of the things she could remember from the past year so it must have been very important to her... Rina had tried to carry on with her morning as usual, but her thoughts kept straying to the wings and the feeling in the pit of her stomach that was telling her she needed to remember something. She needed to find something. But she had no clue what and knew better than to ignore a feeling that strong. So without any reason to go on she hopped onto her ship and took off. And now found herself lounging on the beach.Prior to landing, when Rina had seen where her heart had guided her, she knew she was probably here for a paopu fruit. Paopu fruit were a mythical things around the universe, but happened to be real on this island. The myths stated that if one person shared a paopu with another they would always be tied to each other, their souls always connected. Rina knew that before she left this island she would need to have one of those fruits with her. But who was she to share it with? Black Waltz No. 3

Black Waltz 3 awoke from a slumber he had no memory of taking, his yellow eyes slowly blazing to life beneath the wide rim of his had. His body had been standing while his mind had been elsewhere, the winged mage acknowledging his surroundings with a glance as his mind slowly warmed itself up with information. It looked as if he was below ground, given the lack of any solid light-source, behind him resting a conveyor-belt that fed out of a large... steam-powered machine. As he turned to observe the object, his boots ground down into something... a shell that almost seemed to resemble the shattered remains of an egg. Odd... Where had he been before... Suddenly he froze, information flooding into his mind faster than he could immediately understand. Images, places, people, orders, everything a jumble in the mage's newly formed mind! Some didn't have anything to do with others, Images of himself standing beside a girl, his claws intertwined with her fingers... Another with him battling a child with a tail... and losing! Over it all, a voice ROARED in his head, over anything that could have POSSIBLY made noise down here, Waltz grabbing at the side of his head with a clawed hand as his orders SLICED into his very heart:
BRING HER TO ME!
Images of that girl again with long dark hair, smiling as she rested against his chest, the Mage's eyes narrowing as he attempted to make sense of these images... Who was she...? What was she...? Were these even his memories...? How could-
BRING HER TO ME!
MORE information flooded in, a sense of identity... of himself and his prey. He was Black Waltz 3... and his existence was dedicated to the destruction of life... It was what he was built for, an artificial creature. With this dark revelation, peace came to the heart of the mage, his body straightening, his eyes glowing white with eager purpose. The princess had to be captured and returned home. Those were his orders and he would follow them without question... Even if it means his own destruction.
"Princess Rina..." He muttered as the space before him split apart, revealing a portal of darkness leading to his destination. Images of data flashed before his mind, pointing him in the direction of the world: "Destiny Island." How appropriate... It was nothing but an island floating on an endless ocean, a little pit-stop on the falt-line between light and dark. Information on these subjects came slower... gradually, feeding him lightly as he stepped forward into the portal. "Your little vacation is over..."
___________________________________________________
The world around Waltz faded into existence, a place that was... aesthetically pleasing if one cared about such things. The sun was shining at aggravatingly hot temperatures, the sand was soft and loose, threatening to inbed itself within one's feathers and cloak if the wind so pleased it, small forest off to the side which would make observing over-head impossible... A place for humans... not for superior creatures. Luckily, the machine wouldn't have to look very far in order to find his target, the girl still flopped out among the sand as the waves of the ocean beach lapped at hungrily. Waltz took a step forward, his boots CRUNCHING into the sand, reaching out a clawed hand in order to grab the girl...
...But he froze... images... so many.... all at once...
"Zzzzzrt...." Escaped his lips, voltage flashing across his face and upper-body, unstably slashing along the sand around his feet! "I... I don't...."

As Rina continued to lay in the sand and be lulled into near sleep by the water, she felt the wind die down. Which was strange because the breeze had not faltered once since she had arrived. She also felt the hairs on her arms and back of her neck stand on end, and could feel a strange static surround her. Even with her eyes closed Rina had been able to see the hindered brightness of the sun, but something was now blocking her from it casting a dark shadow over her. Rina's senses began to scream DANGER, DANGER. She slowly opened her eyes, seeing a pair of worn, brown boots and tattered coattails whose shade of blue, brought a pang in her chest for a reason she did not know. Rina's eyes continued to travel up and up until she could take in the full form of the figure before her. She assumed it was a man, but wasn't sure because of the way his clothes and a light blue plume of feathers hid his face. Jet black wings were stretched out behind him, blocking out any light that tried to stream forward. She finally peered into the shadowed face, picking out two glowing, yellow orbs that peered right back. A sharp tingle ran down her back, making her shudder before sense kicked in and she scurried back through the sand trying to put distance between her and the stranger. Fear wasn't what had sent Rina back though. No, it had been the unnerving feeling that she knew this person but had no recollection why or even who he was. A thousand questions were zipping through her mind, making it way too loud in her skull. Her eyes were narrowed, and her lips were slightly parted waiting for a question to come forth. Self-preservation was telling her to run away or fight or something, but her heart was telling her she was perfectly safe. Her brain finally caught up and she meant to ask this person who he was and why he was so painfully familiar What came out was something neither of them were probably prepared for and it shocked Rina into a confused silence. She had no idea where the name came from or how she knew so solidly that that was his name. But she had no doubt. None. One word said so very softly. " Waltz." Black Waltz No. 3

The partial recognition of his name filled the black mage with an unnerving amount of apprehension, his whole body freezing in place at the sound of Rina's voice. Images, feelings, sensations thought only to belong to the weak and human flashed through Black Waltz 3's nerves, paralyzing him with fear... pain... love... emotions he had no conceivable name for! His eyes found themselves drawn not to the girl's... but the tears that flowed from them... He watched intently, silently as lightning crackled between his talons, his gaze tracing her cheeks with the flow of the salty expression of sadness as they dripped off her chin. He couldn't pry his gaze away... to force a hostile GLARE down the into the woman's soul and enforce a sense of submission. He couldn't find it in his cold, empty, artificial heart to BURN the brand of his image into her brain as he reached out to her, intent on pulling her in.
"...Rina... is..... crying...."
The machine whispered softly. If the woman did not take his hand willingly, he would reach out and GRAB her by her wrist, his talons closing around her much smaller arm like a vice of sharp blades, PULLING her up to her feet... and up against his chest! It was as if it were the most rational thing in the world, his hand letting go once her head hit his chest, instead wrapping around her shoulders, holding her there instead. His other hand cradled his staff strongly at his side, lightning still crackling up the shoulder and along the limb, stretching and snaking up the staff and into it's head. The voltage crackled up within the crescent's mouth, popping, sparking and whining with energy... energy used to steal the hearts of unfortunate targets...
BRING HER TO ME!
"..."
Black Waltz 3 stood silently, his glowing yellow eyes staring over Rina's head as his mind FLASHED with more... intimate images... Pictures of them curled up together in the same bed, images of HIM, A BLACK WALTZ, cooking in a kitchen with her at the table... A sensation... of her lips upon his face... Suddenly a sharp PANG cut into his chest where one's heart might've been, his eyes twitching in acknowledgement of this pain... this soul-rending PAIN at stemmed from his chest... It coursed out through his veins and out to his talon-tips, the mage slowly lowering his head... until the rim of his hat touched the girl's shoulder...
"..."
Black Waltz 3 stood quietly, cradling Rina against him forcefully, yet tenderly, his talons gradually loosening their grip around her body... his strength waning as, in turn, the agony in his chest did. His Yellow eyes seemed to glow in not a hostile burn... but an... almost tender shine, his mind dwelling absently on a singular image that infested his head: An image of the Black Waltz... declaring his love...
BRING HER TO ME!
"..."
Bring her to...
"..."
bring....

Rina didn't know she had begun to cry until too many tears started to cloud her vision and a sob rose up in her throat. She pressed the back of her sand covered hand against her lips to try to stifle them, but was reeling on the inside of what she was feeling and... remembering? His wings. It was his wings. These were the same wings that had been haunting her for months in her dreams. And now here they were right in front of her along with a flurry of memories. Being tenderly wrapped up in those wings when she was sick, or a painful memory of her being near death but saved by those wings as they flew her to safety. While lost in her reverie she didn't notice Waltz reaching forward to grasp her wrist painfully, her tiny bones grinding together. " N-no!" She tried to pull herself away, but his hold was too strong and her fight was not true. As she crashed against his chest he released her and she used that hand to bang against his shoulder, trying to escape. " L-let me go! W-what...what is this?!" She stopped fighting when his arm wrapped around her shoulder and with her head pressed against him she finally broke down completely. As she sobbed, more and more thoughts rose to the top of her mind: fighting back to back with him, a nervous kiss, both of them feeling afraid about how fleeting life could be. A quiet night on a rooftop with an exchanging of words and rings with no one but the stars to witness. And that was it. That was the memory that broke down the walls and let everything else come crashing in. Waltz's grip began to loosen on her and Rina's knees buckled sending her back into the sand. Her eyes were wide and horrified and she couldn't help but shake. " I... I remember." Black Waltz No. 3

As Rina's resistance and, inevitably, her legs would give out, the Mage would quickly, almost reflexively, scoop her up in his arms, cradling her close to his chest as he carried her bridal-style against himself! The way she stared up at him, so fearful and scared... it pained him... It hurt worse than anything he could imagine in this world to see this woman stare up at him lie he was going to kill her right here. He was capable of it... His voltage could fry her to charred specks with one mere cast of a spell... But why would he ever... EVER want to harm someone as... weak and helpless as she...?
It wouldn't serve him at all...
"What do you remember?" He asked softly, Waltz's wings slowly beating against the air surrounding them, taking them just a little farther into the air with each beat. If Rina did not struggle or fight him too much, he would take to the air, slowly hovering above Destiny Island, overlooking the entirety of the world... From the endless ocean that surrounded this patch of land... to the forest that consumed half of it, integrated with shoddily made wooden buildings... To the clean, white beaches where water and land met. With all these beautiful sights below him, the mage couldn't help but stare at the one in his arms, his yellow eyes glowing with uncertainty. Something in his chest must have broken... because a sensation FLOODED out from within the cavity... A feeling, a wash of emotion both pleasurable and terrible... both wonderfully euphoric and tortuously painful.
"Rina..."
The Black Mage would hold her closer, the darkness of his face drawing in towards the woman's, his claws softly reaching out to gently run along her soft, pale cheek.
"I..... Remember..."

In the same second that Rina had fell to the ground, Waltz had grabbed her and cradled her close to his chest.. She turned her face up towards Waltz unable to see nothing but the underside of his hat. She could feel her eyebrows scrunched together as she thought very hard about the events that were transpiring. She couldn't understand... it was impossible to understand. How could she have forgotten Black Waltz 3 and the expanse of time they had spent together...? She tilted her head to look at the expanse of blue sky and white clouds and noticed the clouds were getting closer. The young woman shifted slightly in Waltz's arms and noticed he had begun to lift the pair of them into the sky. The island below became smaller and smaller and Rina didn't move her eyes until she heard Waltz speak, asking what it was she remembered. She was finally able to meet Waltz's golden eyes, close enough now to see beyond the glow and make out the pinpoint of his pupils. No less confused, but still strangely calm Rina reached out a hand to grace Waltz's cheek. " I remember everything." I remember us.

The black mage only stared silently as Rina responded, her response both answering... and not answering his question. Did... Did she see the same things he did...? Did she feel the same things he felt...? Did she have that ache in her chest that filled her with dread... and something far less sinister the same as he...? The winged mage only moved with the flapping of his wings, holding his position in space as the woman he held reached up for his face, her warm, soft hand slipping into the darkness that lay beneath his wide-rimmed hat. Her hand would touch... something, the shape of a human head with a surface as rough as skin... but as cold and lifeless as the metal of a machine. Only his eyes would seem to burn with emotion as he stared down at the woman he held in his claws, a throbbing in his chest touching him in a familiar way...
He knew this woman... He remembered her... He remembered... So much about her...
"Rina..." He whispered softly, his flaps gradually slowing, gently lowering them both back towards the ground. The Waltz would lean his face into the woman's hand as his yellow, glowing eyes narrowed, almost as if lids were slowly falling over them. He sighed softly, the voltage that had encapsulated them both slowly fading away into nothingness. He cradled Rina close against his chest, leaning in close, gently pressing his forehead against hers as his boots softly crunched the sand beneath their soles.
"I remember you..." He whispered, his voice pitched with confusion... doubt...
...Love....
"I... I.... Rina... I..." The mage stammered, unable to formulate coherent thoughts, let alone sentences! "I've... returned..."

Despite the seriousness of Waltz's voice and the seriousness of the situation, a nervous giggle escaped Rina's lips. She had placed her hands on his shoulders and her grip tightened as if to make sure that yes, he had returned. That this was real and not another nightmare. Rina wasn't entirely convinced yet. " Y-yes, I can see that. But... but is it really you? Black Waltz 3?" Rina's head was still spinning around in circles, everything that was happening almost too much to bear. " This feels like a dream... this can't be real. You were gone for so long...I forgot you...? How could I forget you?" Rina babbled quietly with her eyes squeezed shut, but her forehead still pressed against Waltz's. Taking a deep breath, Rina stepped away, and reaching up she removed the wizard's hat that covered the machine's face so she could finally see his face again. For what felt like the first time. Blinking away what tears remained, Rina stroked her hand across his cheek her brow furrowed once again. His face was the same as she remembered it, but also there was something different about it. The wear and tear... it was gone. The slight weathered and haggardness she had grown accustomed to...gone. His face was unmarked and nearly perfect. She would also guess that every scar, callous, and mark of battle that she had felt would be erased as well. Rina thought she understood. When Waltz said returned he also meant rebuilt... " You're so new...does anything of my Waltz even remain...?" She tried to keep her tone neutral, but the fear and the hurt of a ripped open scar bled through her voice anyway. Black Waltz No. 3

The mage knew not of what Rina spoke... talking as if he were split between two people. Her sentences were like the metaphorical verses of human poets, her idle observations like metaphor meant to contain deeper meanings. The mage's mind spun, trying to make sense of the messages she tried to convey, his silence serving as his answer lest he say something wrong. Rina would step away from him... and take his hat with her, revealing the thin, sharp features of his face underneath. His yellow eyes didn't seem to glow as brightly without the darkness around them to amplify their glow, his lips curled downward into a cautious frown as Rina's fingers softly drew across his features.
Without a word, Waltz's claws slowly rose and took Rina's hand in their grasp, their sharp points and edges closing gently around the woman's smaller palm... careful not to harm. He cradled them gently as he stepped in once more, closing the distance between them as his other hand reached out... his staff disappearing as he took his hat back in his grasp... His head leaned in as he brought his hat back, shadow casting over his face as he took Rina's lips in his... and kissed her softly..
He knew not why he made this maneuver or what it's purpose was, his body moving on it's own and leaving his mind behind! His lips took Rina's softly, yet passionately, kissing her with emotions the machine didn't think ANYTHING was equipped to feel! Suddenly, that clump of metal in his chest BURNED with energy, flooding his magical form with power that came not from his magic, his grip on Rina's hand tightening only the slightest bit... as if to have her feel what he felt... He pulled the woman against his chest, small flashes of static sparking across the mage's face... revealing a clear, watery liquid rolling down from the corners of his eyes.
"...We mustn't stay here..." Waltz would whisper when he pulled away... As for when that was... it was indeterminable how much time had passed. "The Radiant Garden... that is where our home is... yes...?"

Rina's wide eyes followed the track of Waltz's gauntlet like hand as he carefully extracted her arm from his face to thread his fingers through hers. The cold points of his claws could be felt on the back of her hand but she knew Waltz wouldn't hurt her... not on purpose. The other clawed hand would retrieve his hat and place it back onto his head, obscuring his face from Rina's vision. He became even more obscured as he leaned forward towards Rina. Rina's breath caught in her throat, as Waltz leaned forward and captured her lips in a kiss that felt long overdue. Her heart started to beat fast in her chest and she almost took a step back because the air around them felt thick and heavy and she couldn't breathe, but Waltz pulled her closer and all she could do was hold onto his coat and kiss him back and hope that they wouldn't be crushed into the sand by this wall of emotion. Rina pulled her hand from his grip to slide her fingers through the gap in his coat, resting where a human heart would normally. The area was warm, nearing on the verge of hot and Rina could feel the vibrating thrum of Waltz's magic rushing its way through his body. The dark haired girl continued to kiss her returned angel until she felt wetness fall onto her cheeks. She wasn't crying at this particular moment so that meant... Rina jerked her head away from Waltz to see tears falling down his face, barely visible. Her hands instantly went to cradle his face and swipe the tears away with her thumbs. Very quietly she heard him beckon the two of them to leave... to return to their home. A home that hadn't felt like a home to Rina for a long while, but she didn't know why. But now she knew...and hopefully with her companion back the warmth would return. Rina shakily nodded her head. " Y-yeah...let's go. Let's go...home." Black Waltz No. 3

Something in his body must have been malfunctioning... Perhaps coolant was leaking from his eyes? He did not notice it until Rina had broken their kiss, running her fingers dangerously close to his eyes, wiping at something... her fingers coming away wet. This gesture seemed to resemble the human-activity of wiping away tears... something associated with the feeling of sorrow typically. Black Waltz No.3 was not sad... He wasn't grieving... If anything, he was.... pleased to have found this woman, to have cradled her in his arms and kissed her... So why was there liquid pouring from his eyes?
Bah.
Whatever the reason, it mattered not. Rina agreed to his beckons... she too wishing to return home. With the apparent completion of his mission, the machine would reach out his arms, wrapping them around Rina and pulling him to his chest once again... The motions were still mechanical, cautions, as if trying to mimic someone doing the same motion. It was as if he were afraid she was going to pull away again and escape his grasp, that she was stringing him along, playing. Suspicion isn't what he felt but... anxiousness... Irrational fear... She trusted him, yes...? Then why did he feel this way?
If he drew Rina close, the mage's wings would fold over his shoulders, wrapping around Rina from behind, covering in his dark, umber feathers. Their softness, gentleness would wash over his partner, the firmness of the limbs being the only thing of force about them. They would cradle her close, as the mage's arms did, his claws softly clutching at Rina's clothes. Darkness would blossom around them, consuming the light and scenery abound. Cooler, crisper air would flood in from the black, the tropical beaches of Destiny Island fading away to nothing, the dark becoming their new residence...
...For a moment. Maybe two.
...and as soon as it came, the darkness fled away, creeping back to the shadows from which it was born. In it's place rendered a familiar scenery, a bailey full of life, flowers and concrete, shops still not yet open as the sun had not yet risen. The towering walls of The Radiant Garden shimmered around them...
The smell of home touching the mage's nostrils.
