So the Heartless really were like wild animals... Or the vast majority were, in any case. Given the proof that Antebellum herself represented. It explained a lot, though. Most Heartless were unreasonable and just attacked whatever was in sight. The Deserters seemed to be the only exception to that, at least right up until she met yet another exception in the form of her new little acquaintance here. More importantly, Antebellum finally seemed to realize exactly where she proved so helpful in that fight earlier.
"Accident or not, I appreciate it! You didn't just help me, but everyone that was having to deal with the Heartless too. It might not have been what you were hoping to accomplish, but... It was still a good thing.", she explained in a calm tone of voice. Thankfully, it seemed as though they more the two talked, the more the pink Heartless was able to relax. She didn't seem quite as fearful as before, which was good. Vaneera wasn't intending to scare the poor thing... Though it seems there was still some miscommunication going on here. Antebellum thought it was some type of trade when it came to the matter of a replacement for the notebook.
As she was about to comment on that, Antebellum states that she wouldn't mind coming with Vaneera in order to conduct her research that way. The reasoning was pretty sound, she had a Keyblade, so... Heartless just naturally came for her. There might even be rare types. "Well, I should probably be a little more concerned about being the equivalent of a monster magnet... As well as you thinking that you need to pay me back in some way. But I'll admit, that seems like a pretty good idea to me. I can always use a helping hand in fights as hectic as this one, and it seems like a good way for you to get a start on rewriting that research!"
Vaneera then pondered on it for a moment. "The only catch is... They're probably going to be more interested in fighting me, and I'm going to do what I can to stop them from hurting people. So I can't really guarantee being able to capture them in a 'natural environment'.", she would then say honestly to Antebellum. Though the pink one might not have thought of that part on her own, Vaneera wasn't going to lie about that aspect either. But finally... There came a point in their discussion of a more serious nature. Namely, Antebellum's identity crisis that seemed to be going on.
Though Vaneera thought it was silly and cute at first, she began to realize just how much baggage this would really be to hold... "Well... Like I said. I think you're a nice person. And if you don't want to be referred to as a Heartless, then I won't do that. I also don't expect anything in return for replacing that notebook of yours either.", the Keyblade Wielder adds, treating all of this with the decorum it deserved. "In the end, if you still want to come with me, I'm okay with that too!"

When Antebellum thought about it, she supposed she DID at least help out in some form... The Heartless would have definitely sown chaos if left to their own devices, though this was the first time she had actively intervened in their endeavors. Was it wrong for her to have stood in the sidelines for so long in the past? Questions that merely opened up more questions. "So why did you help them? Is it because you also wanted to do a good thing?" the small Heartless asked, humming with a tone of curiosity. It made sense to fight back when attacked, but the girl came to the Heartless... not exactly the other way around.
At the same time, the Pastel Orchestra made a trillful squee at Vaneera's response to her own offer; if just because it meant a potentially useful partnership. "It can't be that bad! The way you handled big green back there least tells me you are a great fighter! Even if scarier Heartless pop up, I'm sure you'll do fine long as you keep that keyblade close to ya! Chime ~" she cheerfully spoke, not a doubt in her mind that they would probably fare well in future encounters.
Her new co-worker did seem to mistake the nature of such studies as being not quite that fruitful if they were going to need to be fighting all the time... a fact that honestly did not bother Antebellum. Actually most of her prior studies were watching the Heartless in-action! "Oh no, that is fine! In fact, the heat battle IS the natural environment for Heartless! They usually only appear to attack people anyway, so no worry! Ding ~" Antebellum ended up reassuring the nature of this partnership, musing the positive benefits of such. "If anything, it is a good thing you help to cull their population. If you didn't, they may end multiplying!" As counter-intuitive that may seem... it was important for her studies the population didn't inflate to uncontrollable levels. Such numbers were capable of destroying the environments they invade, so it was a good thing that the number gets wittled down when possible.
Honestly, it is the nature of the Heartless that both brought wonder to Antebellum, but also worry... She had a lot of time to dwell on these questions, but this was the first time she had anyone to talk to about them. "Am I being nice? I... I don't think I am? I am not sure if I've ever been nice..." Antebellum mused, unsure as to what that quantified for. If she was being nice, than... it kind felt good? It was hard to say... It was kinda like the feeling of excitement when encountering a new discovery, but a bit warmer and closer to home. "... but it does kinda feel nice to be nice? I think you are nice Vaneera. Chime." the small creature mumbled, seemingly hiding their face a bit more underneath their hat... a very faint blush able to be seen from their pitch-black face.
Then it was decided! If Vaneera didn't object, then this new partnership would commence! Antebellum jingled in the air as her yellow eyes curved into a happy expression. "Very well miss Vaneera! I hope I'd be of assistance to you!" the Heartless chimed before landing softly on the ground. "Maybe we should leave this place...? I think people are going to wonder what the commotion was all about after that fight..." She after all didn't want to be associated with the actual perpetrators of this mess.

Antebellum then asked why Vaneera wanted to help them, and whether or not it was just because she wanted to do a good thing. That was a little complicated... Vaneera raises a hand to her own chin as she ponders over how to best explain it. "I guess it's just... I don't like seeing people in trouble, when I know I can do something about it.", she would respond. "It's sort of a natural drive, something I always want to pursue. Like how your research is for you.", she then elaborates. "But I also like to because I know it's a good thing. I think your research could help people too, if you ever elected to share it with those hoping to combat the Heartless.", the Keyblader adds.
With that out of the way, Antebellum comments that it couldn't be all that dangerous due to Vaneera's skill; which wasn't technically untrue... She had gotten a lot better at fighting and handling the Keyblade, though she had a long way to go. And there were certain things that were way out of her league even among the Heartless. But, she never really had to fight alone now. She was making so many friends that could lend her a helping hand when she needed it most. Just like Antebellum here. "My Keyblade is pretty powerful! I like it. But, it's not the sole source of my power. That fight would have gone really differently if you didn't back me up there. Having allies you can depend on makes all the difference in a fight.", the red-haired girl replies.
Speaking of fights, the little pink Heartless also confirmed that there was no trouble in collecting research from Heartless locked in battle, considering that was what they always did when they showed up -- Makes sense. She never really saw them doing anything else, save for the Deserters here. "Well, in that case! You're more than welcome to come along with me!", Vaneera would then state, now assured that there would be no conflicts of interest.
All that aside... Antebellum definitely didn't seem to have a lot of social experience... She wasn't even sure what being nice was? Vaneera thought that a little strange at first, but considering her usual company... It wasn't really that out of place. The Keyblader thought that the poor thing must have been through a lot. Vaneera would smile at the compliment, however. "Thanks, Antebellum."
Their conversation winded down, and it was about then that Vaneera's new friend points out that they had been standing in the middle of a damaged, vacant street... "A-... Ahaha... Yeah, we should probably get going...", she would then gesture for Antebellum to follow, and begin making her way out of the scene. Fortunately, they still had time before any authorities would show up to the area.

Odd… Antebellum was half-expecting some sort of symbiotic relationship between Vaneera and the cityfolk, but it seemed it was a wholely altruistic relationship. But why? She genuinely not understand this behavior… It was just too alien for her to grasp really. Not even for something like money or fame? Then again, Vaneera had a good point with it just being something that came to them… like an instinct! She supposed cannot fault one from falling back to what their gut tells them, right? ”... Hmm. Ding. I suppose that kinda makes sense. I can’t say I feel the same way, but I suppose it doesn’t really matter. One does what one wants after all!” she responded, humming at the mention of sharing her work. ”Oh I wouldn’t mind sharing my work… Its just a matter of finding people who would even care!”All things considered, Antebellum was thrilled at the prospects this little alliance could offer! With probably all manners of Heartless drawn to the light of the Keyblade, her chances to study will increase exponentially! That and she also would earn a bit of safety staying around someone who could fight. She jingled cheerfully as she began to twirl in circles around Vaneera like a giddy child. ”Ding-a-ling ~ ! Then it is so! I’ll watch your back, and you won’t thump mine with blunt key-shaped objects!”An unusual manner of putting it… but it was rather genuine. That aside, they perhaps should bail now while they still could, right? Heartless attacks were bound to gather attention, and the less questions that needed to be explained to people, the better. The pink mage Heartless floated up to Vaneera’s left shoulder before perching on it like a canary, her bell’d hat still jingling softly. ”Th-Then lets shove off, no? I get the feeling most people do not exactly enjoy the idea of monsters roaming the streets and attempting to you know, tear the hearts out of people’s bodies. Its a bad crowd to associate one’s self with.” Vaneera[[Oh my god i am sorry for leaving this hanging! Will get back to the groove of things!]]

It seems like Antebellum was able to understand why Vaneera took it upon herself to help others, even if there was a bit of confusion at the beginning. So that was good! That means there really was a friendship that could form here. As long as understanding could occur, there was a chance. Even better was the fact that the little pink heartless offered to share her research in the pursuit of helping others! Or rather, she didn't mind sharing it. It was just a matter of finding people that wanted it in the first place. "Well, I can certainly use any information you might be able to glean from our enemies! Depending on what you find out, we might even be able to start telling people how to keep themselves safe."
And so the agreement had been formed. Antebellum would accompany the Keyblade Wielder and help out, and Vaneera wouldn't unceremoniously bash her with a blunt key-weapon. Made sense. Wasn't the most refined way of saying things, but hey. It got the point across! "Done deal! I couldn't hurt you anyway. You seem way too nice to be my enemy.", she'd then comment. Now however, it was time to be on their way. Antebellum decided to showcase this by nesting on Vaneera's shoulder. That prompted a smile out of the Keyblade Wielder. The first thing she focused on was simply making some distance from the 'crime scene', as it were. It didn't take too long before they were back to the usual hustle and bustle of a city going about it's day.
This likely did afford Antebellum a unique advantage in terms of perspective however; since she was perched on Vaneera's shoulder, no one seemed to be paying her any mind. At least, not in the "Ah! It's a Heartless!" sense. "So, is this your first time being able to blend in with everyone like this?", the Keyblade Wielder asks, a little curious on that front. Given what Antebellum said before, it was safe to say that she hadn't. But Vaneera knew better than to assume either way.
'If so, what do you think?", she then follows up with another question. The red haired girl was mostly trying to make casual conversation, and get a better understanding of her new companion. They were going to be working together after all, and a calm walk through the city was a good way to exchange conversation. If they knew more about each other, then it stands to reason that they could better trust each other!
Not that she had any reason to be distrusting of Antebellum, of course.
