Alrighty, so here we are. I will try to word things as politely as I can while still being as honest as possible. I don't want to sugarcoat these things though, so I apologize in advance if any of it still comes off harshly. I think it's important to discuss this before the potential rush of new or returning faces come the release of KH3 in just a few days. People will probably start coming in a few weeks after, once they've had time to play it thoroughly.
In regards to the time limits on raids and missions, I don't see how those are beneficial at the current moment. Now that's not to say I don't understand them--I do. And I understand what was intended with the very introduction of a time limit on those things. The problem at the current moment is more that the time limit is just leading to everything being closed or failed for a few reasons, the most significant being member activity.
The unfortunate truth is that life happens. Even the staff members are not immune to this fact. Some of you are still currently in the midst of chaotic things in life that are interrupting your time here, some of you are trying to return from those times. It happens. I'm not faulting anyone for that--it happens to me as well. But the fact remains that it does happen.
At current, I believe there should be a removal of the hard-limits of time/turns in most respects until the time comes if/when things stabilize around here. Having these limits creates more work for the staff who are able to be here and ends up hurting the members who choose to participate in these types of things. I did say most though! I believe turn-skipping should remain, though perhaps with more time allowed for a person to post, given that the threads would no longer be locked into a specific amount of time. And yes, I'm aware missions don't have a specific time-limit as raids, which are given a month to finish. But missions fail based on member activity, which I can give more detailed feedback on later down the line. I want to focus on raids and the concept of the timer system in general for now.
To point to a particular problem that's currently even an issue now, raids don't currently end well, nor have they ever for as long as I've been around this site and its iterations. They always reach the time limit or default-loss because of members being removed due to the time limit on turns. This leads to very, very unsatisfying thread conclusions-that-aren't-conclusions and lackluster rewards, if they ever even get to that phase due to the aforementioned issue of people just not always being around. In the event that the staff can't reach a conclusion as is, the review is opened up to the members. I personally applaud that! I think it's a much better move and it's good for transparency, which improves member trust. However, the downside there is also clear to see. People just don't want to do that most of the time... It's another unfortunate fact. So what happens then? Staff can't decide, members won't do the work. It reaches a deadlock.
But that may not have happened if the thread had been allowed to reach its own conclusion without a hard timer. I believe that for now until things change both among the staff and the member-base, these limitations need to be revised or removed. Because it's just not fair to those who put forth a genuine effort and are here that things get sucked away from them due to these situations beyond their control or anyone else's either.
