Vivi was...bothered. He hadn't really gotten much of a chance to take in what happened in the first match...to really process and deal with what the Black Waltz put him through. It was so unexpected so terrifying. It was humbling in the worst of ways. Vivi didn't think it of himself but he learned today that he'd always thought himself to somehow be something more than his kin folk and he didn't even know that he felt that way until everything he thought set him apart was taken away and he was turned against his best and truest friend in this world and all the worlds. He was a weapon. Just like all the other ones. Why be friends with a weapon? Why waste time and energy and love on a weapon if that weapon can just fall into the wrong hands and be used against you anyway? These things haunted the boy and he nearly broke down the moment they left the arena. He'd gotten so upset when it happened in battle that he remember the trance. He wasn't even sure he could do that on any world but home.
It was probably everything on his mind that made him fail that second match. It had to be. He and Zidane were an unstoppable team. Zidane trusted him when Beatrix was too much but the small mage boy went down like a leaf in autumn. He was silent when they left the arena for the second time and they heard the announcement that they weren't going back. It probably should have occured to him that General Beatrix probably could have taken every fighter in that arena herself in every match. She was the absolute best that Gaia had as far as Vivi knew or heard. It should gave occured to him but he just couldn't get the Black Waltz out of his mind. He'd never felt such raw hatred. 'Malice' was a concept he'd never truly understood until his mind was driven by someone else. He lost their match and now Zidane had to return to the princess in defeat. At the bottom of the steps Vivi just stopped. He paused there completely silent for a moment before he plopped down on his bottom and he cried.

The tournament had been a rough one this year. He didn't participate in them all the time, if ever. Though it was quite the show off his laziness surpassed any measure of egotism that the rogue could put put there. They made it through a hard first fight because in that match they weren't just fighting their opponents, but their past. It was a bit terrifying not knowing why the Black Waltz haunted Vivi so. Sure they had difficult meetings, but the third Waltz was not one Zidane had really ever a chance to speak to. Their goal was to follow the orders of the former Queen, but with her gone did the Waltz really have anything to live for? Did they learn what Vivi had? It was not likely. Vivi's personality was a result of his own tenacity. Vivi's worldviews were born of his own experiences. Even if the Waltzes could recognize these things, it was hard to say they understood them in the way Vivi has come to be able to. The world was big and a single person was all too small. But for someone like Vivi, who was now seeing the universe would become an insignificant speck amidst the sands. The principles of everything Vivi had learned on Gaia was suddenly expanded, crushed, and turned on its head. In these worlds there were so many different people, powerful people. In their travel across these new stars: those who they once knew had too become stronger in order to face the dangers that did to consume so many. Coming out of the stadium the sight of Zidane was covered in bandages seemed almost an expectation without Dagger or Eiko to tend to his tomfoolery. A number of the cloth wraps had been peeled off by him, despite the numerous warnings from the nurses: commanding him to leave them and allow time to heal. But far from it, as Zidane was not wont to take such advice. Making his way out with Vivi it felt a bit freeing to be done with the fighting. He had enough dirt to eat for one day. Zidane looked to Vivi when he tucked down Zidane had, at first, assumed he was tired. It wasn't until the sobs of the little mage drifted to his ears that Zidane realized something was wrong. "Vivi!?" He hopped down the last few steps, turning to his little brother before he himself crouched. "Hey little guy, you alright?" What had worked him up suddenly It was hard for Zidane to assume as Vivi could be a bit of a naysayer sometimes and worked himself up for various accounts. He was brave and stronger than he has been, but he was still a sensitive kid. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS
