As Ramza dashed behind her Maeve cut to the left, passing him. With fire in her eyes she took hold of the snow as she ran rolling a ball before fixating on the oncoming shadow. "LETS GO!" She roared out, stomping her foot into the ice to stop her as she reared back and hurled the snowball with her momentum. "I won't let you hurt my friends any longer!" She cried out, unleashing her winter wonderland of pain. In her dash to clean up the skittering shadows she didn't realize the shadowy man had already unleashed a devastating attack toward her furry comrade. He was too far away for her to do anything so she'd have to keep on her toes if she was going to survive this and protect everyone!

Though Maeve's target went down without much trouble (in fact, it was too far away to cause any even if it wanted to), the second Shadow was quick to retaliate, dashing through the snow with a not-so-merry mindset of slashing at the paladin with its black, scritchy-scratchy claws.
Meanwhile, the Moomba had ducked under the phantom's projectile and closed the distance in the same moment, and the faceless ghost was then in the perfect position to pick up its sword and slash downward... at which point it chose to forgo the whole thing, turn around and make a desperate sprint in the opposite direction instead. Apparently, it wasn't the most courageous of spirits. It did take the chance to utilize this new angle, however, scooping up more snow from the ground to pack into yet another dense, dripping ball to launch southward, cutting through the unaware Shadow and heading straight through to the defender on the other side.

Location: Christmas Town Mood: Determined Status: Critical As another recovery orb appeared, Ramza lost no time. He rushed towards the sphere, nabbing it almost as soon as it appeared. He then kept moving - one of his partners (Maeve? Was that her name?) already shown to have a heavy arm. Ramza wanted to give her a clean shot to Blaise; perhaps she could take him down in one hit as well, frail as the mage was. "Attack him!" He told her, pointing at the mage.
Unfortunately Ramza couldn't position himself adequately to also attack, but maybe the joint efforts of Maeve and the other partner (Gyun? Something like that) could take him down immediately, now that all shadows had ben eradicated.
[OOC: Two spaces up, three left, grabbing the orb on the way]

The phantom wasn't unobservant enough to ignore the passing knight, nor was he confident enough to stay in that ranger's line of sight. It strafed alongside its opponent, stopping at the same time to lob another ball of tainted snow, though its accuracy wasn't quite spot-on enough to ensure a hit. In fact, dodging the strike was far from difficult. All the while, the shadows grew darker yet, four more pits of black boring through the earth in unison.
The real assault was only just beginning.

Gyun takes some time to extract himself from his snow hole and when he does he sees that the foes have been (mostly) vanquished! and now there's more. Well that is just a fine kettle of salted fish. He sees one to the north of him and one to the south, and two others to his west but is not in any state to get to them at any reasonable speed, and attempting to so, they'll catch up with him quickly.
He never thought something that seemed this simple would end up feeling complicated. He wracks his little furry brain, if he attacks one, the other will get him from behind so... he turns north, and starts heaping and packing snow with his powerful paws, making this is much easier than a snowball. He builds himself a wall more than big enough to hide behind, and then presses his back against it to look southward. He'll deal with the Blaise clone as soon as he has the opportunity.
Gyun builds a wall to his north.

Location: Christmas Town Mood: Determined Status: Well Ramza felt immense relief as the wave of healing came through him, restoring his wounds.
Naturally, his movement attracted Blaise's attention. He wouldn't want it any other way.
The brat conjured a spell against him. Ramza noticed the path to his right was going to be blocked soon; as such, he rolled to his left, trying to evade the attack. Moving swiftly, he then moved around the bastard, hitting him with a snowball from behind. He would probably leave himself open for an attack from the upcoming shadows, but that was a consequence he would have to deal with.
[OOC: One space left, three up, one right, attack Blaise]

Unfortunately, even considering as predictable as the ball was, Ramza's movements just weren't careful enough, and it hit home in the end, wounding him yet again. When the knight circled around for a shot with a ball of his own, the phantom was ready to counter within the second, turning on a heel with another snowy shot to put in his direction.
And then, they came. The southernmost pits opened first, letting through some familiar foes. The scrawny, twitching Shadows crept up onto the snow and got their footing while the northern pits widened further, allowing a duo of fiendishly smiling orbs to float into the air. They twitched and pulsed as their gaping maws took in large quantities of the frigid air, and they spun freely in their self-suspension as their eyes, nearly eclipsed by their smiling cheeks, searched the field to see who they should harass first.

Location: Christmas Town Mood: Determined Status: Injured Ramza's evasion was not good enough, and the attack hit him. It seems trying to do too many things at once ended up working against him. As he became the target of another attack, he put his full focus in evading this time; he did so by quickly sidestepping the dark sphere.
He sensed the heartless gathering, one of them quite near. Ramza was sure he would be his target next round, and likely would be a fatal blow - at least as far as this battle was concerned. Breathing in, he steadied his aim - if he was going to go down, he would take Blaise with him.
Putting his full might under it, he threw the snowball against Blaise, hoping it would be able to knock him out.

Gyun rubs his paws together as more heartless spawn. One side has been fortified so that gives him time to deal with this. He rolls himself a snowball and whips it with all force toward the shadow in the south, grinning at the familiar, explosive paff that deleted the last shadow. After that's done, he goes rushing southwest because one foe has already been able to attack in a big angry line and while that while may slow foes down he's not certain it will stop them from attacking and he wants to get into a better position nearer people who might need his assistance. Those big angry balloon things he's never seen before and he feels like it's best to give them some space for now.
Gyun attacks the heartless to the south. Gyun moves 1 south, 1 west.

With the extra care in his movements, Ramza was able to get in position to counter-attack, but he still wasn't safe, as one of the newcoming Heartless had been drifted over from behind. Though it was lax and slow-going on its approach, there was a major shift in attitude once it was close, as it pulsed with a wicked energy before zipping forward in a frenzy of random sprints and flailing, assaulting the poor knight as it loosed its energy without a care in the world. When it exhausted itself, it seemed to be tired, and perhaps a bit dizzy, but it didn't look like the kind of creature that would let such a trivial thing like fatigue keep it down for long.
However, there was more than one person in the danger zone. The phantom, as it turns out, was caught off-guard by the flailing assailant, and was knocked backward into the snow as a result. Though it lacked features, its body language made it clear that this particular invader was much the worse for wear after getting suckered by the floating creature, its movements becoming less calculated and a lot more panicked. In fact, it didn't try to attack after that. Instead, it rushed to get the residual snow off of its shoulders before sheathing its sword and digging through a shadowy pocket. When its hand emerged, it was carrying a black geode of some sort. The phantom knelt down and held the trinket tightly, and an odd magic seeped from them both into the ground. A void opened up beneath the stranger's knees, after which they began to sink into the abyss...
At the eastern end, the remaining Shadow was slinking along the ground on its way to the Moomba while the second Dark Ball was floating into position. Neither were able to get into true melee range, but the Dark Ball was willing to attack anything, so long as it could be destroyed, flailing about in the space between itself and the lion-creature and dealing some well-earned abuse to the wall that had been set up between them. These mad spasms just barely missed the furry defender, likely buffeting him with a spurned breeze in the process.

Gyun spies his target trying to escape. Well that's just bad. They gotta get it before it gets away or it will definitely come back again. The moomba however, absolutely cannot close that gap in time... He can't get to Ramza either, and there's a shadow that has... sunk into the snow like a paper cutout between him and his ally anyway. The moomba weighs his options. He doesn't want the shadow on his west attacking him but he's not sure how that even works. So to err on the side of caution, he rolls up a snowball and pelts the big floating ball to his north. He then immediately builds a wall to his left, hoping the temptation of hitting two targets at once will outweigh the heartless just having been beaned in the face. The big angry x in the snowdrift around him makes its attack pattern quite clear.
Gyun attacks the Dark Ball to his north. Gyun builds a wall to his west.

Location: Christmas Town Mood: Determined Status: Injured Ramza watched as the creature flailed around. That was actually for the best; the Knight had been expecting a more direct hit, which would have certainly spelled his doom. He kept an eye on the creature and one on Blaise, as he did not want the cursed child to flee. The creature's movements were chaotic, which also worked on Ramza's favor, as he only needed to dodge when the monster came his way. And so he tried, doing his best to evade each chaotic tackle.
He was very satisfied to see Blaise plummeted by the creature; a grin stamped on Ramza's face. The bastard deserved it!
And being the coward he was, naturally he started to flee. Ramza was determined to not let that happen. He once again gathered some snow, and threw it on Blaise's way, trying to take him out before he could flee.

The Shadow, though cut off by the sudden mass of snow, wasn't discouraged from circling around to circumvent the wall entirely, at which point it was still in the perfect position to stand up, bare its claws and... Well, it didn't have the chance to do much else. The nearby Dark Ball, being presented with so many targets, was shaking and twitching with anticipation, and soon after the Shadow appeared, it was battered from behind as its ally recklessly whipped about between the two walls, damaging one and completely shattering the other one, and dispelling the poor Shadow as well. Apparently, it wasn't all that concerned with what it hit, so long as it could hit something.
The phantom, having apparently expected itself to be safe, was caught completely off-guard by the snowball, and was sent back into the snow once more. Nonetheless, it tried to resume its incantation, only to find that botching it the first time had critically damaged the geode, and it crumbled away in its hands. After a few seconds of frantically searching the snow for the broken shards, the phantom looked up and was presented with yet another issue. The second Dark Ball had drifted over, and was getting twitchy again. The cowardly specter waved its hands defensively, likely trying to signal to its teammate that, no, you're not supposed to do that here, and was backpedaling all the while. It wasn't enough, though, as the Heartless jerked forward in another outburst of flailing, suckering the phantom for a third, and final, time.
Yes, it seemed this was the end of the invader's constitution, as it didn't move much when it crashed to the ground. The few red details in its form grew dim, then black, then gray as the specter turned to dust and was blown away in with the snow.
That said, the Heartless weren't done coming, as the dark crept ever dimmer, and more portals started opening to the southeast...

Gyun panics as the heartless comes around the wall, two foes at once is not something he can deal with well even when he's not limited to snowballs! ... The shadow is then immediately defeated by its own ally and Gyun rubs his mane sheepishly. He peers over the west wall to see if his ally over there is doing alright, and down goes... the Blaise guy. Hmm... well that's one less problem to worry about. The moomba rolls up his metaphorical sleeves, digs himself up some more ammo, and flings it toward the Dark Ball yet again, before noticing the swirling darkness really quite close to him. Well that's not good.
The moomba wracks his brain. He could move back but his allies seem to have fallen asleep while waiting for the heartless to arrive in the first place, and in his mind they're slumped and drooling against each other and snuggling in a halfway adorable manner. If he does retreat then they'll be swarmed and defenseless. There's no way he can protect them from three targets, but he can keep them from being attacked on all sides. He turns south and buries his paws in the snow, forcing it forward and packing a new snow wall reduce the enemies' options for mobility. It leaves his east flank exposed but, well, it seems like he's got no choice but to engage anyway so he might as well do his best.

Unfortunately, the Dark Ball's fire wasn't entirely friendly. In his inattention, the nearby knight had also gotten suckered, and the vicious blow to the back of his head didn't seem easy to shrug off, sending him to the ground entirely. There seemed to be some hope, though, as the green orbs that fell from the phantom converged on each other, congealing together and turning a fiery red before transforming into a single, glowing feather that then drifted gently to the ground...
Sure enough, the next wave of Heartless wasn't far behind, a brand-new entourage of Shadows emerging from, well, the shadows.
