The dark abyss seemed to swallow up everything. Whomever Mickey’d seen laying among the firey columns down on the almost mountainous terrain in the ample dark was nowhere to be seen. He gazed upward. In fact, no one seemed to be here any long and the darkness was so thick that he couldn’t even see his own hand in front of his face. He tried a cure spell both because he needed it and because he’d hoped the magic might travel through the dark as light but it seemed to get swallowed. Shakily, the mouse king got to his feet. Where was that horrendous demon? And Mickey’s friends, everyone that was fighting there with him? His breathing started to hitch as a hint of fear seemed to grip him by the shoulders, not for himself, not for the fact that he’d been through this before and it was happening again, but for the idea that he might have let all of his friends fall to the darkness as well.
”Riku?” he tried in the dark and his call just seemed to both echo aimlessly and disappear into the waiting maw of nothing. ”Hullo?” he tried again though his voice admittedly wasn’t as hopeful as it ought to have been. The King losing hope was a dangerous possibility indeed, but it was a possibility nonetheless. He paused for a moment, tried to ground himself and just focus on what he could do. He tried again. Mickey was so sure he’d seen her laying there. ”Aqua?”

Darkness
Everything that Ven could see, everything that encompassed his senses, was darkness. It stole the breathe from his lungs, stifled the glow of his command style until it dissipated like a smothered flame deprived of air. The confidence the keyblade wielder had possessed moments earlier hadn't even taken moments to vanish after the great beast they'd all been fighting unleashed one final act before its fall. Xion, Tinkerbell, Mickey, that Riku guy; all of them were gone and Ventus could feel the pure darkness around him clawing at every inch of his armor to banish him into oblivion as well.
"Hrgh-! N-No way!" He grunted in struggle to the void's pull. He couldn't fall, he couldn't let himself be overtaken like this. Aqua was counting on him, Terra, everyone! If he failed, then they'd all be lost for good! And yet, no matter how much the blonde struggled, it was as if the darkness' pull only strengthened; like quicksand. "I... I can't.... Aqu-...a..... Terr-.... I..."
"AQUA! TERRA!" Ventus screamed, air filling his lungs as he abruptly sat up in a disoriented stupor. Panting heavily, the boy's chest strained against his armor plating while he attempted to parse through what had happened. He was lying on the ground... somewhere. It was still dark, no doubt he'd still been in the realm of darkness. [What happened? ...Where'd everyone go...] He mentally worried. Panic began to spread through Ven as he realized just how many people had vanished. Had he failed?! Had he led everyone into the realm of darkness only to have them all be claimed by its depths as well? The loss of his friends was mounting in number... and it was all his fault.
”Hullo?”
The blonde boy's head perked up as a familiar call met his ears. That shrill yet comforting voice... it's uncertain quiver didn't render it even the least foreign to Ventus. Rolling onto his feet, Ventus did his best to scan through the surrounding darkness, his eyes slowly focusing on the silhouette of the mouse king. "Mickey?" Ven called out in disbelief. Was it really him... or the darkness playing tricks on him? He couldn't even comprehend how the mouse had gotten down here... Had all of them really been doomed to the realm of darkness?

A moment went by and dread was oozing over the walls of this chamber. It was pitch black here so he couldn't see it, but he could sure feel it...but then the spark of hope spoke up. The king heard a voice. He knew that voice and he wheeled toward it. He couldn't see anything. "Ventus?!" he inquired to the inky blackness. "Ventus! I'm here!" he squeaked, a hop in his step as he tried desperately to give the boy a voice a direction.
There were other sounds though. Every time he spoke it was like the darkness echoed it back to him and other times it was like a vaccum that swallowed it up. The worst of it were these sickening squelching sounds like something was just festering. It moved like syrup cloaked in the dark that beings such as him simply could not see. His eyes wide he peered around. Something was moving closer and closer closing in on him and that meant on Ventus too. Mickey manifested the kingdom key and it shined with a radiant golden hue, a beacon but in darkness vast as this? A small one at best. From the blade's teeth, a glow began to gather as Mickey cast a healing light spell. It would flash like lightning for a minute but with a light as white and radiant as the Queen's faith. He was able to just see the festering dark ooze slithering out of view of the light. "Ventus! Take my hand!" he commanded the boy. They had to move. They had to run and they had to go now!
