Maleficent’s commandeered airship flew over the Hydaelyn skies, the sun fervently irritating on the deck giving it a highly inappropriate almost golden sheen given its owner and appointed captain for lack of better options. Such glowing beauty certainly wasn’t warranted for the likes of Pete and it was practically blinding in that harrowing spiritually joyous sort of way that just left a bad taste in the dark fairy’s mouth. Maleficent supposed that glow was what brought her to this unabashedly large but nonetheless insufferable world afterall. It had a certain gloss to it that just screamed of its potential for innate magics. No doubt there were a vast amount of creatures living on the world. Any number of relics just waiting for her coaxing fingers.
Greedy snake-like eyes crossed over the lands that passed like driftwood in a sea. In the distant sky a flash of light before cold inducing dark crackled out like an ink splotch. The fairy’s smile became absolutely wicked. Yes, there was indeed promise here and she couldn’t wait to get her hands on it. Vicious looking winged creatures Maleficent had never before seen scattered away from the spread blast. It was all in a manner of seconds that this occurred. That was precisely the sort of magic that called her to places such as these.
A polished nail was thrust in the direction of that casted spell and the ship’s bow loftily turned toward its indicated direction. It took a few moments but the airship ventured into the thick of that lingering magic while Maleficent’s eyes and the orb upon her staff glowed a bright green. She searched for that magic’s point of origin expectantly.

The magic was not all that was there to find. When coming so close to the epicenter of the grand spell, those aboard the ship may have seen the still-glowing object in the middle. They may have for a moment, but in the next it shot upward, shining a bright green as it soared toward the sky, its trajectory curving to intercept the floating machine until, a few seconds later, it collided with the underside of the prow with a force to tip it upward. The object didn't stay lodged for long, zipping up to the fore and quickly bypassing the railing to land on the deck. Only then was it clearly visible, without the speed and distance to blur its form.
Where boots hit the ground, claws clenched to dig in, securing the footing. Jagged armor covered its legs, making shins into mauls. The rest of the way upward was little different, a number of meticulously-assembled plates overlapping with a black cloth which bore veins and conduits to serve some unknown purpose as part of the greater machine. In its hands and its abdomen were circular ports that shone with a blue-colored magic that seemed ready to fire on demand. Behind its hands, trios of additional fingers extended past with claws that seemed much too sharp to be ornamental. High-rising pauldrons concealed its shoulders, behind which a broad set of wings was still extended, the gold frames bearing sails too small to carry such a load. They were likely enchanted, as only magic could explain this object having traveled so swiftly through the air. Behind those wings curled the largest piece of all, that being a freely-moving tail that curled in the air behind its idle carrier. Though it was by far the most heavily armored component, it moved with an unnatural ease, speaking of either more magic or an undemonstrated strength.
In the center of its chest was a component that seemed out of place, however. There sat a single, massive gemstone, set firmly and precisely into a mechanism protected by the only engraved plate in the whole machine. Though its glow was dimmer than that of the ports seen elsewhere, even those without magical attunement could feel the dense air of power the stone exuded. If anything in the immediate vicinity was responsible for the magic which tore the horizon, there was no better candidate than this.
The stranger stood taller from what was first a hunch, though it was less for presentation and more to stretch, rolling her shoulders and flexing her gloved fingers. The claws looked as if they moved just as naturally, and even the tail twisted in sync with her exercise. Her face, framed with a black-horned headdress, bore closed eyes that only blinked open once she was finished. The orange orbs scanned the deck with an unmistakable enthusiasm, making it clear that their owner was readily anticipating what they expected to find. "Where is it, then..?" she asked, speaking for the first time since her arrival with a firm tone, indicating that it wasn't really a question so much as it was a demand what 'it' be clearly presented.

Something rammed into the ship’s bow and sent it reeling back like a frightened war horse in the discolored skies. Maleficent’s search was only disturbed for a moment as she had to brace and steady herself from such an impact. Her familiar and her crew of heartless was squawking unhappily and wandering aimlessly about the airship and she snapped at them all. ”Silence!” Whatever it was that she’d been looking for made itself known with a purposeful thud on the deck only to make a cryptic demand. From all over the being there seemed to come a wild glow. The dark fairy was certainly intrigued. She stepped forward, her chin raised and her head held with a certain regality.
”What in all the worlds are you? Maleficent’s eyes glowed a bright lime green as she inspected the creature before her with curiosity. ”That magic just moment’s ago. Did you cast it or were you birthed from it?” the sorceress was almost certain that she already knew the answer, the source was glowing merrily from this intriguing being’s chest. Be that the case, Maleficent had little need for the being and more interest in that gemstone it bore. expectantly.

It took a few moments for her to respond to the question. A few too many, perhaps, as she stared blankly at nothing while considering what should have been a rather simple query. When understanding seemed to come to her, she lit up again with that eagerness she showed before. "So, you mean Ultima?" she clarified, slowly turning her head to look back at the epicenter through the corner of her eye. "Pretty, wasn't it? It took so much thinking to make it happen." Though her words were simple, the feeling in them was clear. She took pride in... whatever it was she did. "I want to do it again, but it's got me so dizzy," she confessed, putting a palm to her forehead and steadying herself with a broader stance. "I came here for that thing I saw, but you're not it. Too dim, y'are."
Her sluggish movements were becoming more coordinated. When she shook her head, the second swing was much swifter than the first, and upon looking at the witch a second time her gaze had become a searching glare. "Is it gone, or are you hiding it..?" she pondered aloud, tipping her head to inspect the crew members from a different angle. "Dim, dim... That one's dim too; Where's the bright one gone? It was here, then..." Hunching down to look closer at the deck, she even went so far as to sniff at the air, but apparently found none of what she was looking for. In the end, she didn't seem to understand the person who was standing in front of her, and how significant the witch really was, as both a person and an entity. She didn't understand darkness.

'Ultima.' The creature had a name for such explosive magic? What was this being, why did it know such a powerful spell? It was clear that whatever it was, it was meant for destruction but Maleficent had to wonder at why. Like a dog on a scent, the creature began to look around, identifying those that stood before it. She used the word 'Dim' for Pete which Maleficent could hardly argue with but then when she turned her gaze to Maleficent and used the very same term, the dark fairy's expression contorted. "How DARE y..." she began, highly insulted but she stopped when she realized that the creature's use of the word 'Dim' was a more literal one. Did she mean magic or actual light?
Maleficent's brow rose and she placed forth her staff. She willed it to emit the same green glow from before. "Is this what you're seeking?" dare she ask? There was just something about this creature. It seemed...hungry and Maleficent certainly had her suspicions on what exactly it craved. It was erratic in its movements. Something created for the purpose of destruction would have little need for good behavior or social graces, Maleficent supposed...but still, this troubled her.
Just what sort of wild magic was she dealing with here? Maleficent's patience was most certainly waning.

The stranger perked up once more when the spell of light was cast, watching intently as she waited for what she saw to grow brighter... only for it to remain as a small, insignificant lamp among a great black wall of nothing. "Oh, but it's still so weak. That's not it," she complained, disregarding the display to continue her search. "If it was up before, and it's gone now, then..." She finally seemed to reach some kind of conclusion, and was quiet once more as the metaphorical gears turned in her head. Looking down to the ground, her eyes fixed on something, looking not at the deck, but through it to whatever was beyond.
"There ye are." Her wings spread wide behind her as she stepped back, the ports in her palms suddenly glowing brightly while her tail swayed for a point of balance behind her. Though one could see the signs, and someone may have even spoken out, those wide eyes were now set on a target. She didn't risk looking away again. That tail whipped around and jabbed downward, punching cleanly through the floor of the deck and tugging itself free to leave behind a broad hole. The jets of her wings came to life and she shot forward, Hands on the edges of the opening to pry it wider. It was absurd how easily the deed was done, metal and wood giving way with nary a fight at all, to the point in which a large chunk was torn off by accident, only to be tossed away with just as little ceremony as the rest.

Maleficent's magical display was apparently just not bright enough and what possessed her to be insulted by that implication was a mystery to her. Perhaps it had something to do with the simple notion of 'not being enough' it didn't really matter what it meant. The creature, whatever she was supposed to be started to busy herself again looking for 'it' and Maleficent willed her gaze not to flicker to the boards beneath their feet. She had a feeling she knew what the creature was sensing now and be that the case there wasn't a chance she'd let this imbecile have him.
The Dark Fairy's concern was confirmed when the moronic little beast reared back a long pointed tail and shoved a gaping hole through the floor of the dek. Maleficent's eyes bulged in her outrage. "You IMBECILE! How DARE you damage my vessel! I've had quite enough of your insolence!" the creature seemed distracted even as Maleficent howled at her from across the deck. She would pay and she would learn for her grave mistake. "PETE you idiot! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Maleficent wheeled around searching for the oaf but of course he was nowhere to be found. She then raised her staff into the air. From the boards of the deck arose six lanky neoshadows and they charged forward toward the creature their claws bared, but Maleficent wasn't finished. A Firaga blast erupted from the orb on her staff and headed directly for the her!

At first, her focus didn't budge. With the witch shouting and the shadows taking form, she gladly ignored it all and tore at the deck, but there was a shift when the fire came to be. Her giddy mumbling ceased and her head turned up in time to see the bolt of flame approaching, at which point there was little time for her to put her hands up in defense, likely attempting to catch the incoming projectile, but failing to do so as it simply exploded against her, engulfing her in flame and smoke as the Neoshadows charged in to join the fight... only to be thrown back out immediately afterward when a hunk of living metal barreled against most of their chests, that being the massive tail that had already proven its strength in piercing the ship's hull. Five of the offending creatures were tossed away from the dissipating soot, though one hadn't been. With the air clear, it was easy to see why.
The stranger, obviously just as offended by the developing situation as the witch was, had taken the sixth Neoshadow by the neck (Well, partly its neck and also its chest, since her claws encompassed quite a lot of its scrawny body) when it charged into the cover of smoke. "Stop moving so much," the armored whatever-she-was insisted as the Neoshadow clawed at her gauntlets, which still glowed a bright orange from the lingering heat of the previous fire spell. "It's harder to hit the ones that move." Then, the gem in her chest came to life, and she gave a wide grin as a green flame seeped from it to overtake the creature's shape and engulfing it entirely before slipping away to be sucked back into the stone. With the flames gone, something had been done that may have seemed impossible: The Neoshadow had been sapped of its color. Though it had already been nearly black before, the flames had left it as an unsaturated gray. When its grappler swung her arm to toss him onto the deck with the rest, it seemed frail next to its brothers.
She, meanwhile, looked just as lively as ever, and the crystal jutting from her chestplace buzzed with a stolen energy. The various ports on her body also seemed to be shining brighter, invigorated by that same energy. "Not so dim as I thought," she remarked in a somewhat confused tone, apparently having mistaken darkness for being nothing more than a lack of light. With her mistake corrected, though, there was reason to take much more interest in people she otherwise would have disregarded. "You'll feed it just fine." Her eyes zipped between the different entities on the deck as her wings flared to life once again, ready to propel her once more.

Mickey stared up at the dank wooden ceiling with wide uncertain eyes occasionally flickering his attention to the trap door above the stairs. There was sound all around the ship almost like so many fish were knocking against it in a hurry. There was something going on out there. He could hear quickly paced footsteps and even Maleficent hollering something. Then there was the icy chill in his veins that told him there was an awful lot of magic happening up there. He only felt that way when a being so influenced by the darkness started casting. Maleficent had always given him the willies mid-spell. Something landed on the ship. The whole thing very nearly jerked at the sudden hit and the clang that resounded was particularly concerning.
Scrunching his nose in confusion Mickey tilted his head, an ear lifted toward the deck in hopes that he'd better hear what was happening but no such luck. Maleficent was talking but he had no idea to whom. They sounded frantic whoever they were. Quite suddenly some jagged metal object tore through the floor board that made up the ceiling of his cell and he shrieked in surprise as woodchips flew all about. Whatever it was was tearing at the deck and there wasn't even a second that he thought it was someone making an attempt to rescue him. The king pressed himself into the shadows of the cell, what was left of them as best he could. Whatever was up there was after him and it still sounded just as frantic. It wasn't just whatever that was either. He could see the inky blackness bleeding through some parts of the floor. Maleficent was bringing the heartless...or maybe that thing was. Mickey'd managed to get free of his shackles quite some time ago. Some painful contortions with the keyblade saw to that, but the door was another matter. Most of his magic spells ended up ruthlessly reflected back at him...but now...there was a clear opening. It was riddled with dangers, but he had to take it.
Mickey huffed in a breath and the kingdom key manifested in his hand. He lept toward one of the cell bars and then pushed off of it to soar up toward the opening. He didn't quite reach the ceiling himself but the teeth of his keyblade hooked into the ruined floor and he scrambled through. What he came to face was something he hadn't at all expected, some almost draconic person. That frantic voice belonged to it. He could tell by its eyes. The king was starved, he was tired, but he was going to live. He squeaked aloud in his effort to turn tail and run with all his might toward the side of the ship. "WOAOAOAH!" He could only skid to a halt when he realized with shock that they were skybound!

The fireball burst right into the creature and Maleficent smirked gleefully as her Neoshadows began their most wicked claw baring decent upon the foolish interloper. That smirk became a heavy scowl of disbelief and rage when five of those Neoshadows were sent flying to the deck in all directions twitching on their backs pathetically disoriented. "Leave my ship at once you..." the dark fairy started to bellow only to falter when she noted that the creature had hold of one of the heartless.
Maleficent as a fae could see the subtle things that most couldn't the ebb and flow of the magics that made life what it was, and now she saw something leaving that heartless and fading into that creature through the gem on its chest. What was left behind was an impossibility the sorceress had never seen before...at least not in interaction with the heartless. The creature, it drained the heartless...or that gemstone did rather and of course the creature bearing that item looked more animated than ever. The mistress of all evil equipped with a devastating item such as that? Truly it was made to be hers.
As her vision was zeroing in on that glowing gemstone, she'd nearly forgotten about the hole left in the floor of the deck and she realized that it was right about where she'd left him. As though the little rat had read her mind he swung up from the hole torn in that deck and he bolted off toward the side of the ship. Surely he wouldn't dive from it but she couldn't risk it. "NO! I HAD HIM!" Maleficent roared with a voice far too thunderous to have come from only her. She was changing shape right there on the deck, her headdress becoming lengthy sharp horns, her robes swallowing her up and morphing. Her arms lifted grace fully to her sides before arching back in a blast of green fire only to emerge as colossal batlike wings and from that fire, her feminine face emerged to reveal the vicious snout of a large black dragon. The airship groaned in protest and slowed as her talons moved to drag her belly across the deck after the mouse.

Had the mouse and the sorceress been alone to do as they wanted, one could assume that it might be resolved rather definitively. After all, Maleficent was beset with one of the most potent darknesses that either of them had ever witnessed, and the King, though powerful and skilled, had no room at all to maneuver.
Unfortunately for them both, they would be given no such privacy. Soon after the dragon began to pursue its would-be prey, a dense laser was swept across the wooden deck in a jagged line between them. Though it seemed harmless, having hit nothing important, the ground it touched had been injected with a volatile magic that caused it to explode upward immediately afterward. Splinters of material were thrust into the air by the force, becoming shrapnel to punish the dragon if it didn't ere on the side of caution. During the commotion, the mechanized stranger had moved again, her new energy carrying her swiftly to cut her opponent off. At some point, she'd donned a new face of her own, though this one was really just a metal visor that had been deployed from her helm. It was much less grand than the fairy's tricks had turned out to be.
In contrast, though, this didn't seem to be her only trick. "It's... It's m-mine!" she warned the sorceress in a shaky voice, somehow devoid of the lax composure she'd shown thus far. Her shoulders were visibly heaving with her breath now, apparently struggling under some weight or another. The glow from her suit didn't seem any less stressed, shining bright enough to show that perhaps it wasn't functioning quite as intended. "I'll show you why," she continued, crossing her hands over her chest as she spoke. "W-Why it has to be mine, what it's m... meant to do, what it's all meant to do!" Her talons were pulled apart as if tearing at some unseen thing, and in that motion a clear tone rang out from the gem. She leaned back stiffly as energy pooled in the air between her hands and that stone, coming together as a green orb which swirled with an alien, yet familiar kind of malice.
It bulged outward and pulsed repeatedly as more aether leaked from the living machine, swelling with that malicious intent that looked ready to lash out at anything that drew too close. Lines of light like brightly-shining daggers soon became visible in the glare, spinning counter to the whirl of magic as she spoke with words that clearly weren't her own. Even when the Heartless regained their footing and tried to charge her a second time, her trance never faltered. "...And from the deepest pits of the seven hells to the very pinnacle of the heavens, the world shall tremble..." @maleficent

King Mickey had only seconds to gaze back behind him and note the pursuit of the colossal black dragon that was slithering over the deck after him. Its talons raked and splintered the wood of the deck as it moved and its tail whipped behind it hurling objects across the deck. This ship was not going to be...AIRBORNE much longer. Then there was whatever had burst through the floor trying to get at the brig. Mickey had never seen a creature quite like her. She looked wild, deranged even! Oh boy was he in really hot water!
Those limited seconds passed by unbelievably quickly. Some sort of beam traced a line upon the deck and though he couldn't think of where in that short amount of time, Mickey had seen magic like this before. He placed his gloved hands out in front of him, his eyes shutting tight as he anticipated impact be it the jaws of the dragon or the force of the cast magic.
The Kingdom Key shimmered outward into existence providing seemingly slim cover over the mouse's body so when the laser line quite suddenly burst, Mickey was sent flying off the ship in a hurtling screech, his key blade an arching shimmer in the sky as he plummeted.

THAT MOOOOOUSE! She'd tear him to shreds! That imbecile! That fool! He was bound! Imprisoned on her ship in the air and he was escaping! Maleficent slithered and writhed, a dragon of darkness bounding over a sinking airship to get after her prey. HER prey.
A line of some magic was traced just before her snout and she skidded across the deck narrowly avoiding its very sudden blast from hitting her face and her eyes directly. The scales on her powerful chest however were not so fortunate and took a good bit of that blast. The dragon was pushed backward, talons digging into the deck boards instinctively while the dragon gained her bearings. She wheeled her massive head around to survey the surroundings. In this form, the damage to the airship, the fact that it was loftily headed for a crash didn't seem to much matter to it.
The mouse. The prey was gone and the dragon was absolutely furious. She whipped her head around spotting that armored creature that ruined absolutely everything and she Lunged for it, an onslaught of razor sharp snapping jaws whipping forward from a branch like neck. From the dragon's nostrils, her rage manifested into a warning releasing plumes of smoke.

"...S-Shall... trem... Why won't it..?" Something was wrong. Though the orb had grown massive indeed, it clearly wasn't as much as the plated stranger had intended. Again and again, she tried to force more aether into the spell, to recreate what she'd done before, but upon glancing down she was made to come to terms with the fact that it just wasn't possible. The gem in her chest had grown dim from its exertion, the pent-up power inside having been successfully been amplified and concentrated, but there was no excess left to spend. Was that really how little was left? Had so much been wasted already?
There wasn't time to consider it yet. The dragon was approaching quickly, as were the others, and she'd done all she could under this newly-observed handicap. She drew her hand back and slammed the palm forward against the bright green orb, sending it toward the incoming beast's open maw. Whether the jaws closed on it didn't matter, as it was already in the process of detonating. Finally, the bubble burst. The effect was immediate. Inches from the face of the charging drake's face was where it happened, the collection of aether expanding outward in an instant as an explosion of the purest magical fury lashing out in bolts and lances in all directions. Nothing was safe from the force, let alone the burning energy it carried, and the space was curled around as it went, rippling out and likely dealing a critical blow to the already abused ship deck. The stranger didn't see what became of the dragon or the shadow creatures, instead having turned around and used the explosion to propel herself far from her enemies' reach. With a downward angle, she was able to get a head start on her descent, taking a reverse arc to that of the mouse (who may have even been thrown upward from the blast). A strong burst of her jet wings sent her on a collision course as she moved to make her escape. She wasn't ready to fight a real enemy with the flaws in her design suddenly coming to light, but there was no way she'd leave without first grabbing what she came for. "You're mine!" she cried like a great steel harpy, claws on all limbs outstretched to catch him in the air.

It was an apparently great thing that he'd decided to jump. Another blast, so much more powerful this time around surged from the deck of Maleficent's...ship. Mickey had never seen anything quite like it and he really didn't have a lot of time to take it in before the thing was pretty much imploded on and he had to shield his big toon eyes from the light. That kingdom key still shimmered in his hand but he was no match for the outward concussive blast. The brunt of the energy took the wind right out of him as the blast changed the direction he was flying only for him to fall yet again barely conscious. The kingdom key shimmer out of the existence of his grasp as he fell only partially aware of what awaited him. He anticipated that landing but instead he felt the sharpness of something wrap around his mid-section. Those talons bit into him and he winced in pain trying to will his eyes to open and comprehend the blurriness of everything occurring around him.
Something was scratching at the deck in attempts to get at his cell. That same something had claws powerful enough to tear up the deck floorboards. Only something like that could be holding on to him now. It seemed hungry...eager...horrifying. Mickey was a mouse. He was no stranger to being a species appetizing to other species. That didn't make it any less terrible. "Let...go'a me!" he cried out at the strange beast the keyblade re-appearing in his hand. The worlds were counting on him! He would not disappear to the darkness like this. Keyblade in hand he lashed at the creature aiming for it's wrists to prompt it to let go of him.
