Once upon a time... There had been three friends. One a traveler, another a hero, and the last a prisoner. The traveler took flight from his life but never let go of his pride and honor, all the way to the grave. The hero had fallen, his mantle passed on to another that had inherited the pride of the traveler and been taken away from them too soon after saving the prisoner... Genesis Rhapsodos. He was all that remained of the trio, quartet truly, and while their will and legacy lived on within the blond infantryman he could never replace what the angel had lost. No, for the first time in his life he was truly alone. Even the presence of the very goddess that had saved him wasn't enough to quell the loneliness inside his heart, but he knew he must persist. For the planet's sake... For their sake...On the cliff overlooking Midgar was a makeshift grave, no longer the resting place of the Buster Sword but instead a small tuft of flowers growing where the purest soul had passed on into the Lifestream. His Rapier drawn, Genesis held onto it with both hands while he brought his forehead against the base the the blade. The chilled air ruffled his hair, the bottom of his tattered coat billowing behind him while he repeated the words they so often spoke. "Embrace your dreams... And whatever happens, protect your honor... As SOLDIER."Emphasizing his pride in that quote, he brought the sword back down to his side while he opened his mako blue eyes and watched as the flowers danced in the breeze. He'd fooled himself for all those years, he had never been the hero. If anything he had spent his life as a villain; working for the SHINRA, exposing his genetics and abilities upon others for his own benefit. However that had changed; with Sephiroth, Angeal, and Zack gone he would step up in their place to protect The Planet. Even its' great savior Cloud had vanished, taken off to distant worlds to fight the battles of deities and other forces in plots in which he could only do so much for he was not the protagonist of that tale. That ongoing war had also left The Planet vulnerable, with visitors from both sides clamoring to claim what they could from here to gather the valuable resources they needed for their cause. That was why he had been summoned, and awakened by Minerva herself... It was time for someone to step up and fight for their world, and keep it safe. From the grave to the sky those glowing eyes wandered, watching as the stars twinkled on this moonless night. The only question on his mind was how to begin this journey. Weiss was out of commission, resting from the intense trauma he'd experienced being possessed by the fool Professor Hojo and being used to summon the Omega WEAPON. Expelled from his cavern, Genesis had lost his connection to the Lifestream and its infinite knowledge of the goings on around The Planet. Perhaps the best course of action was to watch, scope out the situation and act accordingly. Yes, there was no need to be hasty. After all the world wasn't in imminent danger... Not yet at least. This thought in mind, he let his monstrous black feathered wing tear from his left shoulder and spread to the full glory of its length. Feathers fluttered around him as they fell from it, one by one collecting on the ground atop the cliff. It was time for him to take the driver's seat, and make this his story. Having found Marlene as well as Tifa and Tseng, Cloud felt better than he did before. He was happy that he had been able to find Marlene and Tifa, two people that he held incredibly close to his heart. Cloud was pretty sure that he was going to rip his hair out in frustration if he couldn’t get anywhere in this regard. Sure, he knew where Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid were, at least he had an idea of where they were, however, that didn’t mean that this couldn’t change, because it could. Just as Cloud was blown away into different worlds in search of the rest of his friends and just as Marlene ended up traveling through worlds, Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid might have ended up elsewhere for practically no reason at all. Cloud reuniting Tifa and Marlene felt good, but he was able to accomplish more than one thing in this. With Tseng having been there, Cloud was able to tell him about everything that had been going on. Cloud told him about the Heartless, the Nobodies, what he knew about Organization XIII and he was able to let him know that Sephiroth was alive and well, traveling through the universe…
Cloud’s mind raced over past events as he rode through the wasteland atop Fenrir, his motorcycle. The land had been wasted and desolate, due to Midgar’s constant use of the Lifestream. All that had been left was dust, dirt and rock. Cloud rode through, picking up speed as the dust from the land picked up and swirled from behind him as he sped through the wasteland on the outskirts of Midgar and Edge. Cloud left Marlene and Tifa; knowing that they were safe at 7th Heaven and under what appeared to be Tseng’s protection. It was funny how people grow. If one person mentioned the Turks to Cloud while he had been traveling with his friends to find a way to defeat Sephiroth and told him that the Turks would become his allies, Cloud would have stared down the person like he or she was crazy. However, it had all been done. Rufus Shinra and the Turks, as far as Cloud could tell, stayed out of trouble and that’s all Cloud needed from them. Cloud looked around him as he drove through the outskirts, wondering whether the land around him would ever revitalize itself and thrive.
It was then that he realized that the Planet had already started to do so. He remembered his destination; the reason why he had been riding through the dirt and rock. He was off to visit Zack’s grave. Everywhere else was desolate except for the spot where Zack made Cloud his living legacy. Cloud smiled in remembrance of Zack. At first, remembering him was met with feelings of guilt and despair but now it was met with gratefulness and honor; gratefulness that Zack had laid down his life so that Cloud could live and achieve his dreams and Cloud’s own and honored that Zack chose Cloud to be his living legacy. Cloud learned that Zack didn’t give his life so that Cloud could feel guilty over his own helplessness, he gave his life so that he could live and that was exactly what Cloud was going to do…live. As Cloud came up on Zack’s grave and the large patch of flowers where he died, he saw someone there…and as Cloud got closer and closer, the figure that stood where Zack died began to increase in familiarity dramatically. Cloud widened his eyes and opened the compartments of Fenrir, revealing the Fusion Swords. Cloud quickly took out all of the attachments for it and sheathed them in his back sheathes. He then skidded his motorcycle to a stop. Cloud took the main blade in his hand and closed the compartments. He turned off the motorcycle and got off of it, walking slowly toward the figure. This was a man that Cloud did not necessarily know personally but he knew that he was trouble when they met. Although, that was all due to allegiance. Cloud wasn’t sure of where this man stood but he wasn’t surprised that he was alive. After all, Sephiroth found a way to come back… Cloud gripped his blade tightly and spoke out, letting his presence be known.
“Genesis…? Is that you? What are you doing here…?”, Cloud asked, unsure of the former SOLDIER’s purpose.

The angel had tilted his wing, feeling out the currents around him before the softspoken voice of the blond reached his ears. Instead of flapping to ascend, Genesis relaxed his wing and let it fold onto itself so it rest comfortably at his side. This was a happy surprise, the redhead had not thought Cloud had returned to The Planet but this was the first place he'd check upon his return. Closing his eyes, he smiled and lowered his head to a forward gaze while he spoke.
"Indeed, it is I. You're Cloud, no? Bearer of Sephiroth's cells, and wielder of Angeal and Zack's will... You bring the three friends together once more. You're doing much better than the last time we met, but then again..." Turning his head to look over his shoulder first, with a step he was facing the lone wolf with a soft but genuine smile upon his face. He ran a hand through his hair, "As am I. I'd imagine we're both here for the same reason, paying our respects to a fallen comrade," he answered while bringing his hand to his side to motion towards the grave behind him. He of course took note of Cloud's sword, though he paid it no mind. It was smart to be prepared with someone as powerful as him, besides he too was holding one in his hand. Taking careful steps towards the planet's savior, it quickly became clear he was moving himself out of Cloud's path to the grave. Another step and he was at Cloud's side, too gazing at the patch of yellow flowers that sat so out of place in this barren wasteland.
"He was a true hero, I finally learned that after our last battle. He gave me back my pride as SOLDIER, then protected you and all he could even in the face of learning the very company he worked for was a sinister organization. Contrarily, Sephiroth went mad... and I did everything I could to stop the degradation even if it meant putting innocents in harm's way. It was Zack all along, and not Sephiroth that embodied what I dreamed to be. Still... There's no way I could ever make up for such crimes, yet The Planet saw fit to spare me. Minerva, the Goddess..." Falling silent for a second, he looked over to Cloud while his Mako eyes shined with sincerity. "She has given me purpose. While you travel out there between worlds, your home lays undefended. That is why she has summoned me. I was not needed in your conflicts with Sephiroth and the Omega WEAPON, but now the danger is too much for there not to be a defender here. I may not know what exactly it is we're up against, but know I will keep this world safe... Just like he would have done."

Cloud retightened the grip upon his gigantic blade. He wasn’t sure what Genesis wanted or needed. Genesis was a renegade SOLDIER bent on destruction and the throwing away of innocent lives. He didn’t even know how Genesis came back or why he came back. Cloud only knew one thing. If Genesis wanted a fight, he would find that a lot has changed over the years when it comes to Cloud and his fighting prowess. Cloud had become a mighty warrior and he was sure that if he was able to take down Sephiroth, he would be able to take down Genesis. Although, something happened; it was something that caught Cloud unawares, as Genesis clearly remembered who he was but when he complimented Cloud on how well he had been doing, it seemed to come from a serene and sincere place. Cloud narrowed his eyes, confused at the new behavior displaced by the former SOLDIER. Genesis had told him that he was here to pay his respects, just like Cloud was. He walked over to stand next to Cloud but Cloud kept on his guard, Cloud turned his whole body and point of view toward the former SOLDIER, not wanting to suffer a surprise attack, just in case Genesis was playing possum.
Cloud kept his eyes on Genesis, watching him talk about how great a hero Zack was and how there was no way that he could make up for his crimes against the Planet. He then went on to how he knew that there were other worlds out there and Minerva summoned Genesis back from the dead to protect the Planet while Cloud was away. Cloud closed his eyes and then opened them, glancing at the patch of flowers that stood where Zack died. He then looked back toward Genesis. Cloud felt himself loosen his grip on his blade. Cloud wasn’t much of a believer in Minerva but he did know that the Lifestream existed. Who knows? Maybe, Minerva was the cause of it. However, Cloud just didn’t know if he could trust Genesis, especially after all that has been happening to him. Cloud wished that he could trust people as quickly and as well as Tifa and Marlene could. Although, Cloud never really could let his guard down. For as long as Cloud could pick up a sword and fight, Cloud has always been the primary protector of this Planet and now that he was back, Cloud was ready to round up his friends and protect the Planet full time from the Heartless, the Nobodies, and whatever else was out there. Cloud was willing to let Sora and the others deal with it, they had more than enough power without him or his friends; they didn't need him or his friends. Cloud could take his friends and go home and protect their own planet. However, for now, Genesis had to be dealt with in one or another. Cloud, to say the the very least, was not too crazy about this prospect of letting Genesis help protect the Planet. Cloud sighed, keeping his eyes on the man before him.
“Ok, well, I'm not too sure that I can just say yes to you protecting the Planet. I'm back now, and I plan on staying with my friends, if fate lets me. I'm...sure you believe that you would have protected the Planet like Zack would have but I'm not too crazy about our history or the history that you have with Zack. I’m glad you’ve been redeemed by…Minerva and all. However, I need more than just words…”

The sounds of the helicopter were really freaking loud! Alessandro was exceptionally glad he had the noise canceling headset on to allow him to hear the pilot and his co-pilot. He ignored the request to not smoke within the helicopter as he lit a cigarette, after about five minutes of trying, and checked his phone once again to refresh his mind on the mission at hand one last time.
>Alessandro >Genesis has been spotted near Edge City. You are to approach with caution and ascertain what his intentions are. Do not engage without backup. Target is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Target was last seen wearing a red jacket and wields a rapier. Report in as soon as contact is made. >Report in if there are any changes to the situation. Keep us updated.
Alex peeked out of the edge of the helicopter. He hadn't seen much yet, but as he came upon a small cliffside that overlooked the ruins of Midgar, he saw something that caught his eye. A motorcycle was parked at the foot of the walkway. It could be related to the Genesis sighting? The helicopter raised itself higher into the air, and, sure enough there were two people on the top of the cliff small mountain. One easily fit the description he'd been given, a red haired man in a red jacket. The other was a blonde haired man with an unusually large sword upon his back. He'd seen intelligence on this man too, and he believed the name on the file was Cloud Strife. Alessandro immediately replied to the messages as he flagged the helicopter to descend.
<Genesis spotted. Another with him. Blonde hair and big ass sword. Cloud? Approaching target.
The helicopter then lowered itself near the two of them, they seemed to be discussing something. The blonde man had a firm grip upon that overly large blade. So, these talks were tense. Alessandro checked the ammunition on his twin magnums before removing his headset.
"Keep it ready! I may need a quick escape!"
Alex grabbed a thick rope, used to give an ally a chance for a quick escape, and threw it out of the helicopter. The other end was firmly tied to the edge of the chopper, now with the WRO symbol instead of Shin-Ra, and slid down the rope onto the ground below. The cigarette in his mouth was still lit, and, as his feet firmly hit the ground, he took a long drag of the deathstick before speaking.
"Boys, I'm not interrupting something, am I?"

If there was anything that Genesis could be certain of, it was that Cloud didn’t trust him. How could he, honestly? All he’d ever known about Genesis came from Shinra, Zack likely hadn’t gone into deep detail with the blond about his missions involving the crimson SOLDIER due to the secrecy required so for all he knew Genesis was nothing but a murderous monster. Perspective was a peculiar thing, after all was he truly a villain when he was fighting against the villainous Shinra? Of course he had gone about it the wrong way and people uninvolved were hurt in the crossfire, but the same could be said of any battle against them including those injured due to the actions of AVALANCHE while they operated as terrorists. There was no point arguing semantics though, what was done was done and all that could be done was moving forward from here.
“Your compliance isn’t a factor, Cloud, I will do as Minerva wills with or without your assistance,” Genesis said bluntly, but smiled at the Imaginary SOLDIER. There was no ill will to be had here. “We’ve all made mistakes fighting for what we felt was the greater good, in my battle against Shinra many innocents were killed by my copies just as many died due to your actions such as destroying the Mako Reactors with AVALANCHE. I don’t expect us to trust one another overnight, as I do prefer to handle things myself than with a team and you know little of my story besides what Shinra and the news have fed you, but so long as we’re on the same side there’s no reason to squabble amongst ourselves. After all if Shinra can be redeemed in your eyes I deserve the same chance, no?”
Before Genesis had the chance to continue pleading his case, to clarify firsthand his side of the story between himself and Zack, the wind quickly picked up as a helicopter quickly swooped down to a halt over this hears. Tearing his eyes off Cloud as he glared up at the craft, his grip upon Rapier tightened while he grit his teeth. Even with his hair wildly blowing in the crosswind, it was easy to see the distain he had for the man descending. Working for the WRO at the moment or not, this man still worked for Shinra. Even if Cloud had forgiven them, Genesis had not, and this was certainly a test of his word. If he deserved a chance, they did too right? The scale of his misdeeds and Shinra’s couldn’t be compared, but this lone Turk wasn’t involved in much of that. He needn’t feel Genesis’s wrath, but even Rufus had done his part funding the WRO and helping rebuild The Planet so didn’t he deserve forgiveness? Maybe so, but like how Cloud couldn’t shake the feeling that Genesis was up to something the Crimson ex-SOLDIER couldn’t help but feel the same way about that whole damned company. He merely smirked as the Turk spoke, but kept his blade down at his side for now. No point making a scene.
“Perhaps. Come to take me back to my cage?”, he asked sarcastically, unable to completely hide the venom behind the joking tone. Helping or not, he still despised the Shinra...

Cloud held himself at the ready, waiting for Genesis to speak. There was nothing that Cloud saw from Genesis that would make him trust him anytime soon. Cloud had wished he hadn’t seen so much, it would be easier to trust the former SOLDIER. Cloud knew better, though. Although he knew that him knowing better can get in the way of forging new alliances that could help Cloud and his friends, he also knew that not everyone had the best intentions or had Cloud’s best interests at heart. Genesis had told him that he was going to do whatever he wanted because of Minerva. Cloud never really understood what it meant to follow Minerva; he wasn’t that much into the supernatural aside from knowing about the Lifestream but that in of itself was tangible and there was plenty of evidence that the Lifestream existed. He brought up how much damage AVALANCHE cause in taking down the Mako Reactors. It was a good argument, he had a point. That didn’t mean that Cloud had to trust him or just up and say “Oh wow, you’re right. I am completely wrong.” However, when Genesis said that he doesn’t expect Cloud to go head over heels and completely trust him outright but he didn’t want to fight Cloud or squabble with him, believing eventually that he would be redeemed in Cloud’s eyes soon enough.
Cloud was about to speak on what he said but then he heard a helicopter nearby and Cloud knew that this helicopter was not for him or because he came to see Zack’s grave. Genesis was quite the celebrity today. Cloud didn’t want this situation to blow up but he could already feel it becoming volatile. Cloud made sure to keep himself in between Genesis and the man that descended from the WRO helicopter. If this company was truly under a new brand, then why would it bother with Genesis? Did they still think of him as a threat. He thought the company’s focus was on humanitarian and planetary defenses so he supposed that Genesis fell under that, due to Genesis’s reputation and due to the fact that he had been brought back by divine means, so to speak. Cloud put a hand up toward the man coming down to face the two swordsmen, as if to say do not come any closer or you might make the situation worse. Their banter was not doing the situation any favors either. Cloud did his best to try to keep an eye on both men so that he wouldn't be hit with a trick and caught unawares.
“Ok gentlemen, let’s calm down, ok? No need for this meeting to get tense...”, Cloud looked to the WRO agent, looking to use his name as pull to find out what’s going on. “My name is Cloud Strife, I can take it from here. I know you're WRO; who sent you here? What’s going on, what do you need?”, Cloud asked in earnest.

Alessandro took a long drag from his cigarette as he approached the duo. Genesis answered his question with another. He'd asked if Two Guns had come to take the ginger haired man back to his cage. That wasn't really the case at all. Actually, Alessandro had orders not to engage unless absolutely necessary. That worked out because the second man, this blonde spiky haired dude, had acquired quite the reputation within the WRO apparently.
"Ah, naw, I'm not here for anything like that."
Cloud had spoken up asking that the moment not become tense. Alessandro was a little tense himself. He was in the presence of a legendary SOLDIER and the blonde haired man had just as big of a reputation surrounding him. Alex thought he'd be foolish to agitate either man, so he kept his calm demeanor with another exhale of grey toxic smoke.
"Likewise, actually. I'm on a 'don't engage unless necessary' kind of mission."
Alessandro made air quotes around the words to highlight the importance of it. He felt a reply to his report buzz in his pocket, but he wasn't the type to be rude to these two guys by staring at his phone. He'd just go with his gut on this, and his gut was telling him to play nice anyway.
"Name's Alessandro. They just reinstated me into the Turks...been off the radar for awhile. I'm actually just here to find out what red's plans are now that he's out. Gotta make sure we all play nice in this sandbox."
If by some chance that either found that as a threat, Alessandro had already turned the safety off on both of his pistols, and bullets were in chambers. He didn't want combat, not against these two for sure, but he would defend himself and retreat if necessary. He held the cigarette between his lips, holding it tightly so his hands would be free if he needed to fight. For now, he simply listened to responses and kept himself very aware of exactly where his weapons were located.

The intelligent movements of Cloud did not go unnoticed by Genesis, who saw the action for the preventative measure of escalation opposed to defending the angel as some may surmise. Still that didn’t mean he was taking his gaze from the approaching Turk. Even if he listened to the blond’s silent plea or gave him the information he deserved it didn’t mean he could be trusted. Unlike Genesis, who had done his wrongs against an evil corporation that threatened to destroy The Planet, they were lackeys of said company. The truth of their misdeeds was part of what led him to desert, led Angeal Sephiroth and Zack to desert for that matter. To top it off the nonchalant demeanor of their new guest was rather disconcerting.
Staying silent at first, Genesis let the man answer as Cloud took charge of the situation for now. He was smart not to engage them head on, either of them would’ve torn him asunder without much effort. The air quotes annoyed him though, was this fool mocking them? Biting his tongue on that thought at least, the Turk introduced himself as Alessandro before revealing to Cloud what Genesis had known from the start. Of course, he was the reason the villain was there, he’d been a top threat to Shinra ever since his departure. His attacks on the company had been misconstrued as attacks on the populace due to innocents being caught in the crossfire, trying to paint him the villain and they the hero. Even now they would continue this tired gimmick, and the angel couldn’t help but snort at the twisted answer they received about merely wanting to check into what he was doing. Lies.
“Is that so? And should I reveal my plan to involve protecting our world from the plethora of threats ready to descend upon it from the outside you would likely doubt me just as Cloud has. While I can trust him to give me a chance, you on the other hand…” Genesis narrowed his eyes, “Or more appropriately, your superiors are far more likely to spy on me from a distance, and attack with deadly force at merely a perceived threat. Not even trying to scope the big picture before pulling the trigger. Does that sound correct to you, Shinra lapdog?”
Genesis could hardly contain the venom in his voice as he spoke the final two words, the sound of his leathery glove trying desperately to tighten even more on the sword’s hilt evident in the silent air. Still he wasn’t finished his rant, for he was not the silent emotionless and logical stalwart his best friend had been. No, quite the contrary he had always spoken his mind.
“Or mayhap any town I should visit or save will be erased from history or actors will replace people to prevent your official story being proved even the slightest bit wrong,” he continued, referring to his hometown of Banora that Shinra had bombed into the ground to hide any trace of his activity there should it be tied back to them as well as their attempt to hide the fact Nibelheim had in fact been burned to the ground by their legendary hero Sephiroth. Even if he couldn’t wrap his head around the first, Cloud would certainly have strong feelings about the latter example.
“Even if you claim to have truly turned a new leaf, it hasn’t stopped you from tinkering with the past. If memory serves right the remnants would never have found JENOVA nor Sephiroth returned had it not been for your company’s meddling in the Northern Cave. How can I know you won’t pull such a stunt again, or try to use my cells to make another DEEPGROUND? At least my wrong doings were built on good intentions against an evil organization, your company's were for naught but greed.”
If Genesis could thank the Lifestream for anything during his absence, it was access to its vast knowledge that allowed him to keep tabs on the world above as he slumbered.

Cloud was relieved to say to the very least when he heard that the WRO agent wanted no trouble at all. Cloud should have known. The WRO was legitimate in Cloud’s eyes, especially since the war against Deepground. Cloud trusted them completely when it came to protecting the Planet but when it came to other matters, that remained to be seen. Cloud has seen the WRO fight for peace; but he has yet to see how the keep the peace. He would be damned if he let the WRO turn into another Shinra, Inc. He figured he could sheathe his mighty sword for now. There was no need to fight, that was what Cloud said. However, him having his sword at the ready said otherwise. Actions speak louder than words, so Cloud put his sword back into his back sheath. He wasn’t worried about being unarmed if things escalated, though. He was a quick draw and an even quicker fighter, in light of what happened to him. Cloud let himself relax as he let the WRO agent have the floor. He told the pair that he wasn’t here to engage unless necessary, turns out he’s a Turk as well.
Cloud didn’t know that the Turks were active again. He knew that he saw Tseng from time to time and he knew that, at times, they would help out but he didn’t think that they were completely on the move. What’s more was that the Turks were assisting the WRO. That was a little controversial, in light of why and how the Turks were founded in the first place. Did they just decide to do this? What the public think about this? Was there any kind of vote? Cloud tried his best not to let it show on his face but he wasn’t too sure about the Turks combining with the WRO. However, this man was only on recon, nothing more. However, the presence of the agent still didn’t sit too well with Genesis. Cloud turned to Genesis, knowing full well that what he was saying was not making matters better. However, what was more interesting was how Genesis knew about all that had happened after he died. Of course, he knew very little about Deepground, however, he got the abridged version of the story. However, he didn’t know that Genesis’s cells were being used for it. That, of course, was the wrong way to go on Shinra’s part again. However, this wasn’t WRO’s doing. Cloud found himself in a predicament here. He was in the process of letting it all go when it came to Shinra. Although, if he showed that he was willing to let Shinra go, he had to let Genesis go. On the other hand, Cloud knew that the WRO has shown that they are have sworn themselves to protecting the Planet and that Genesis hadn’t. First things first, he had to calm everyone the hell down, most specifically Genesis.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions. If your actions do not match up with what you believe, then it means nothing.”, Cloud said out loud, letting them both hear what he had to say. “I don’t quite know how you knew all of this, Genesis, but I’m not so sure it should play a factor in what needs to happen right now. Shinra no longer exists and the WRO runs differently than Shinra did, and you were truly brought back with a new lease on life, then fine. If you and this man Alessandro truly want to be trusted and truly want peace, then show each other that and let peace reign. It’s as simple as that and it all starts…with trusting each side to do the right thing…”, Cloud didn’t realize it until the end but it would appear that he was talking to himself as well, as far Genesis’s situation went.
