Rina watched Alex sing and dance with a smile on her face that just wouldn’t go away. She figured it would probably kill the man to act serious in front of people. Rina knew better though. Yes, he was a goofy guy, but she knew that he had some of a serious streak within him. She had seen it a couple times in the past few days.
Rina kept dancing while Alex sung, but squealed with surprise when he picked her up and spun her around a few times before taking her microphone to finish his verse. She threw her arms around him, giggling madly until he deposited her to the ground…and fell head first off of the stage. Rina gasped and covered her face with her hands before jumping down to check on him!
“Alex! Are you okay?!” Rina went down to her knees and gently cradled Alex’s head in her lap. “Are you hurting!? Can you feel your toes?! How’s your head?!” She shot question after question at him feeling panic rise up in her chest. “W-why are you always hitting your head?!”

As Alessandro went down, the only thing he going through his mind was sheer dizziness. The impact hadn't actually hurt that much. Yeah, he'd have a bump or two and smelled like bottom shelf whisky and tequila shots, but he'd be fine. What hurting he did have completely went away as Rina immediately crouched over him, asking if he was ok.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just really dizzy. I shouldn't have spun around that much."
By this point, most of the people who were laughing had quit, and a small crowd had gathered around Alessandro. The bartender took this time to announce last call for alcohol, stating that Alessandro's crash meant he'd served too much that evening. Now, Alex wasn't drunk by any means, and he'd already quit drinking a little while ago. He sat up, rubbing the back of his head, relieved to feel that it was dry and wasn't bleeding.
"I guess I blew all my gracefulness last night."
He stood up, a little shakily, and began to wipe a combination of excess alcohol from his front and dust from his backside off onto the ground. Alessandro knew full well what a concussion felt like, and this wasn't it. He was perfectly fine, and immediately reassured the couple doctors that were on board the ship as the quickly rushed to his side.
"Nah, I'm fine. Nothing a hot shower won't fix."
He then turned back toward Rina, who he figured had been worried sick over his crash and fail during the song. He looked her over, and could see the concern on her face. Seeing this, he wrapped his arms around her midsection again before seeking to reassure her.
"I'm good, but sorry for ruining this. I thought I'd be ok, but I probably just made it look bad on you."

Rina wrapped her arms gently around Alex, pulling him close to her. One of her hands gingerly ran over the back of his head feeling for a knot or injury of any kind. She sighed thankfully as she felt nothing and was glad that her friend seemed to be okay. Rina then moved her hands to cup his face, so she could look into his blue eyes. She shook her head gently at his apology.
“Don’t apologize for this. I’m just glad you’re okay.” She went to squeeze him once, burying her face into his neck. “You scared me…” she said softly against his skin. “I thought we were going to be spending the night in the infirmary.” Rina glanced behind Alex to a clock on a wall. It was just after midnight. “It’s getting late. We should go. You need to rest tonight.”
Rina took Alex’s hand and started to lead him back towards their room, nodding politely at the concerned people that they passed. They all looked so worried. She figured her face must look like that as well. That was a bad fall that Alex had took. She glanced back at him as they walked, making sure he still looked okay. As they approached their door she wrestled her key from her pocket and let them into the room.
Rina shut the door behind them and went to wrap her arms back around Alex. “You sure you’re okay? You’ll be alive when I wake up in the morning, right?” She tried to keep her tone joking, but the concern and worry was still there.

"Yeah, I'm fine."
Alessandro continued to rub his head, at least until Rina placed her hand back there. At that moment, it seemed like the pain immediately started to subside, replaced instead with a warm feeling. Was this more of her magic? He didn't think so. This didn't feel like anything materia could accomplish. No, this was the sheer euphoria of her presence.
"Nah, I don't need to go to the infirmary. I'll be fine after I get cleaned up."
Alex once again waved to the masses as Rina led the two of them downstairs, pulling the former Turk by his hand. In another situation, he would have been thinking about ulterior motives with an action like that, but this time he knew she just wanted to get him resting. Alessandro fought Zirconade, so a little backwards fall was nothing compared to that, even if it did hurt quite a bit. She shut the door behind them in their room, and immediately asked him once again if he was okay. She asked if he'd still be alive in the morning.
"I should be fine, but there's a Pheonix Down in my bag just in case."
He let out another mischievous grin accompanied by another peck on the forehead. She worried about him, and that tickled him. This cruise could turn out to be the best thing that'd happened to him in years. Hell, it already was the best thing that'd happened to him in years.
"I smell like pure alcohol, so I'm gonna go shower."
Alessandro pried himself away from her, against his own will, and walked to the bathroom door. A devious thought had popped into his head as he made his way there. Before he entered he looked back toward her and made a motion for her to come to him. This was accompanied by another mischievous grin. He would prove that he was still in good shape, if she was game.

Rina let out a quiet scoff as Alex grinned and placed a kiss on her forehead, saying he had Phoenix Downs if they needed them. “You’ll build up a tolerance, ya know. One day that pretty face might not come back.” Rina ran the back of her hand across said pretty face, feeling the slight scratch of stubble. She figured by tomorrow he would have a 5 o’clock shadow going. Rina felt herself lean forward towards Alex’s lips, almost like he was a planet and she were his satellite. But he backed away from her! She heard him say that he smelled like alcohol and wanted to shower. True as that may have been she didn’t consider that a good enough reason to leave her alone. Almost immediately a pout formed on her face and she was about to ask him to come back to her for that kiss.
Alex must have heard her mental anguish as he walked away from her and into the bathroom. He turned towards and gave her that sinfully gorgeous smile of his. She knew exactly what he was asking, and her brain was saying it was a bad idea because what if he had a concussion or internal bleeding or anything that could remotely kill him in less than 20 seconds? But he seemed to be fine and he wouldn’t be asking if he wasn’t fine, right? Right. With a sigh and a roll of her eyes, Rina followed him into bathroom closing the door behind them. She couldn’t help that smile that found its way to her lips.
-----------------------------------
Rina was sitting up in the bed, the bedsheets pulled loosely around her. One hand had a cigarette between her fingers and against her lips and the fingers on the other hand were slowly dragging their way through the dark, but soft spikes on Alex’s head. They had been quiet for a little bit, so Rina wasn’t sure if he was asleep or not. She doubted he was though. They were just enjoying the presence of one another. No words were needed.
Rina took another drag off of the cigarette before lowering it down to offer the remainder to Alex. Yes, no words were needed. But there was something itching at Rina’s mind. Something she had noticed their first night together but hadn’t mentioned. She wanted to mention it now just, so she could rid herself of the curiosity. Her hand stilled against his head for just a second, before going back to brushing through his hair.
“So… you worked at the Honey Bee? For Don Corneo?” The bee hive on his chest wasn’t an obvious clue, but Rina knew about Don Corneo and the… kind of men he hired. Rina was putting pieces together. She could see Alex being the type. Maybe. Once upon a time. She wouldn’t judge if it was something from his past, but if it was to be be in his future…? She wasn’t sure she wanted in on that.
“I’m not judging. I promise. Just curious.”

The hot shower helped Alessandro relax tremendously after bashing his head not even an hour before. It helped not only relax his muscles, but clear his head from any of the residual pain from skull bash attack he had made. The hours passed, and now Alex found himself sitting up in bed in the wee hours of the morning, sharing a cigarette with the lovely Rina. He was still living in a euphoria from the last couple days, and absolutely nothing had gone wrong. He had a really good feeling about whatever this was becoming between them.
He let his mind wander as the seconds turned into minutes, which turned into at least a couple hours. His mind went through everything from reliving the moments of the last couple days, to wondering what the future held in store for them. Throughout the entire time, he never really let the smile leave his face. He held his left arm behind the small of her back, as his right was used to pass a cigarette back and forth between them. It was as she passed the last of the cigarette, no more than a couple puffs left, that the silence was finally broken. It almost started the former Turk, and it was enough to pull him from his daze. He was halfway to looking at her when he put the words together in his mind, and only two words escaped his mouth at first.
"Aw f(@&..."
The one thing about his past he hadn't wanted to let he know about yet was his time with Don Corneo. His reaction was barely above a whisper as he felt a few beads of cold sweat slowly creep down the back of his exposed, shirtless neck. He took a long, slow inhale from the lit smoke before replying.
"I was really hoping you wouldn't figure that out yet...Uh..yeah..I used to work security for Corneo years ago. Not one of my proudest moments.."
He focused his eyes upon the cigarette, rolling it between his fingers. A small tuft of ash fell from the tip of it onto the sheet as he continued talking, meanwhile using the other end of his hand, the side that ran from his pinky to his wrist, to sweep the ashes onto the ground below.
"It was there that Shin-Ra discovered me. I had wanted out, but the money was good. Its funny, everyone sees Shin-Ra as this evil empire now, but, back then, they were my saviors. I don't know that I'd have ever found a way out if it wasn't for Veld..."
Alessandro took another hit from the cigarette, and the taste of burning paper told me there was nothing left to it. He put it out onto the soap dish before finally looking at Rina. He sought to finish his thought before the two planned on turning in for the night.
"I've left that life behind for good. I'm not proud of things of done, but...I think I'm stronger because of it. I mean, I know Shin-Ra has its fair share of problems, but that is nothing compared to the grease ball, Corneo."
He stared straight into her eyes, and asked a question before she could respond.
"I hope that doesn't scare you off. I had planned to tell you eventually, but I didn't want to scare you off before you could pick up who I've become since then."
Now, all he could do was wait. He would wait and watch the look of disgust on her face as she realized he'd worked for the biggest scum on the Planet. This just ruined every single thing he'd worked the last couple days to achieve, and, now, Alessandro was sure she'd tuck and run. He couldn't help but hate Don Corneo even more now.

Alex responded to her question softly. But completely serious and with the utmost honesty. Rina could sense it almost to her soul. Maybe it’s the way he kept his eyes on hers as he spoke or maybe it was because he still held her close. He wanted her to believe in him, believe that this worst part of him was long gone and that the man she had grown to know on this trip was the real him. And she did believe him. She didn’t count him out just because of who he used to be. That was so unfair and cruel. Perhaps if she accepted him now as who he was, when the time came for him to know about her demons…he would accept her. Rina just soaked in his history, choosing not too to speak until he was finished. Even then she weighed his plea to her in her mind for just a moment. But she had already made her decision.
He hadn’t scared her off. Not in the least. If anything, it just made her want to come closer. Rina looked into Alex’s eyes for what felt like an eternity but was only for a few seconds. But in that few seconds she saw all she needed to see to know exactly who Alex was. He was someone who had a rough background, but still had a kind heart. Someone who would hold her close when the nightmares might come, because he knew about the nightmares too. This was someone who had been running for such a long time, just like her. Maybe with each other’s help they could stop running and they could both sleep easy for a while. Alex was someone just like Rina. That’s who he was.
Rina leaned forward to place a soft kiss on his forehead, not realizing that her damn eyes had begun to tear up. She slid down into the sheets, pulling Alex so she could hold him in her arms for once. After they were both settled comfortably in bed, Rina brushed kisses all across his back before whispering softly into his ear. “I’m not scared. Not of this. And certainly not of you. I just… I’ve done things too. I don’t want to scare you off, Alex. I like being happy for once…”

As Rina leaned down to kiss Alessandro's forehead, peace washed over the former Turk. The news he worked for Corneo hadn't scared her off. Actually, she seemed to be at least just as into him as before. She spoke, claiming she had her own darkness in her past. Alex didn't care about that, not in the slightest. If she wanted to tell him, then he would listen and accept her. There was no way that anything she'd done was worse than the sour acts he'd made while working in the slums of Midgar.
"I hope it lasts longer than just this once."
With that, Alessandro kissed her firmly and watched as the night fell into a deep slumber for the two. He wrapped his arm comfortably across her midsection as sleep's embrace called for him.. For the first time in a while, Alessandro dreamed that night, or at least dreamed enough to remember it in the morning. It wasn't much, just a glimpse of the past. He was in some sort of mission, but the only thing he could think of was that he had to go home. Someone was waiting for him, and he needed to hurry home. A simple dream, but nonetheless it was the first one he'd remembered having in years.
----------
Dawn's first light brought Alessandro to consciousness. It had only been a couple hours since they'd fallen asleep, but Alex was still used to the lack of sleep. His body had formed memory of it, and sleeping in wasn't a thing he usually did. His arm was underneath her in such a way that he wouldn't move until she woke. Doing so would likely have resulted in her awaking prematurely. Therefore, Alessandro stayed very still, with his arms still wrapped around her until she rose for the day.
They later found themselves in the large, exquisite dining hall for lunch. Several options had been made available for them, and the feeling in the room was mostly somber. This time tomorrow, the ship would be docking in Junon, ending their three day trip. Two Guns tried to push that thought from his mind with a warm smile towards Rina. He felt extremely well about this, after his late night confession. If she stuck around after discovering the creep of an ex boss he had, then she was at least ready to see where things went after this. Things were already moving extremely fast, and Alessandro hoped that wouldn't lead to whiplash, and Rina discovering he was all wrong for her. He decided to ask her a more light hearted question, more trying to figure out what she was going to order.
"So, what're you thinking?"
He hadn't thought that maybe she'd take that question another direction, as his eyes scanned the menu, waiting for her response.

Rina glanced over the menu, looking at all of the options. Some of them seemed ridiculously fancy for lunch, so she settled on something that she knew would be simple but delicious. She dropped the menu back onto the table before looking at Alex. A small, almost shy smile came to her face. “You’re not allowed to laugh at me.” She took a sip from her drink, before glancing back over to Alex.
“Chicken tenders are always a safe option. What are you getting?”
~~~
The pair made pleasant small talk as they ate their meal, but something kept coming to the forefront of Rina’s mind. She had made it all this way with Alex. What was she going to do in the morning? The trip had only gotten better as it went on and she longed to continue this…friendship or whatever it was with Alex. Rina truly enjoyed her time with the man. Rina reached her hand across the table to pull Alex’s fingers into her own. She squeezed them gently before asking him a soft but nervous question.
“So…tomorrow. When we dock…amIgoingwithyou?” Her face turned red as she blurted out the last part of the sentence with no space between her words. She glanced down at their entwined hands before looking back up into Alex’s face.
“That is if you want me to…”
Alessandro settled in with a fairly large monte cristo sandwich, a ham, turkey, and swiss sandwich fried in pancake batter and topped with powdered sugar. A small side of raspberry preserves and a knife were given to add a fruity flavor to the otherwise savory sandwich. Upon the first bite, Alex's mouth curled up in response to the immense flavor overload of the salty ham with turkey, creamy, melted cheese and the sweet aftertaste of raspberry. This was awesome! The chicken tenders Rina had gotten also smelled delectable. He hadn't imagined how such a simple dish could be served so elegantly.
As they finished their meal, Alex noticed Rina wrap her fingers around his, from across the table. Alessandro knew some real serious talk was about to happen. It was something that desperately needed to happen. Neither one of them had any clue what would happen in the next twenty-four hours. She started in inquiring on just that topic. But of course, Alessandro wanted her to join him in Junon. How could he not? However, the devious side of him took over in just that instant.
"Rina...I'm gonna be honest with you."
With that, he let the smile fade from his face and ran his hand across his face to show a faux sense of regret. It was extremely hard for him to keep the smile off his face to ruin this, but he somehow managed it. He could feel the corners of his mouth itching to turn upward, but he held it off. He looked down at the table before he continued.
"I'm not really sure how to say this... ... ...You're stuck with me. I'm sorry for your loss."
Two Guns looked up, dead into Rina's eyes with a warm smile and a shit eating grin. He knew he'd pay for this one, but he had to add some light heartedness to such a serious moment, that's just who he was.
"I have an apartment in Junon, you're welcome to stay there. I know it might be a little early to ask you to move in with me or anything, but you need somewhere to stay anyway. Me casa es su casa. I want to see where this goes...you make me want to be better..I need that. I want you by my side, Rina."
Only comprehending the first part of Alex's plea to her, Rina couldn't help but feel her heart drop and rejection twist angrily in her stomach. He doesn't want to be with me...? Rina could feel the threat of tears start to sting at her eyes, before the last bit of his speech sunk into her mind and immediately soothed her soul. Alex was just messing with her. He did want her to stay. She could see it in his eyes that he was being sincere about it. When he said that she made him better it made her heart flutter with happiness. With hope. Hope was something she cherished whenever it came her way. It made her happy that Alex made her feel that way.
The joke he played on her though...that wasn't very nice.
The young woman leveled a stare over to Alex. "Mi casa es su casa, huh?" Rina nodded for just a moment before leaning over the table to punch her fist into Alex's arm as hard as she could. After that she pointed at him with her index finger. "Don't you ever do something like that to me ever again!" She sat back down in her seat and took a sip from her soda.
"I'm also calling dibs on the left side of the bed."
~~
After lunch the two found themselves outside on the upper deck. It was a somewhat cloudy and breezy day, with the sun peeking out every now and then. A storm must be coming in from somewhere. Rina had looped her arm through Alex's arm as they walked around. She had seen couples walking arm in arm like this in old books. The only thing Rina was missing was a little pink parasol. The thought made her smile, but also made her a little sad. Were Alex and her a couple now? Was that what this was? She wasn't sure. Everything was happening so fast... but she didn't mind. She was content with their odd little relationship.
The pair had reached the end of the ship and Rina walked over to the edge of the railing so she could look down into the dark ocean beneath. "One more night...just one more night and then we'll be in Junon. Are...are you sure you're okay with me...staying with you? I know this is happening fast." Rina turned around so her back was up against the railing, and she was facing Alex.
"This is fast but...Alex. I feel like I've known you for such a long time. Everything feels so...right."
As Alessandro saw Rina's eyes begin to well, he knew he'd made a horrible mistake. Something clicked within him, and he instantly knew that this was something he never wanted to see with her again. It would kill him to see her hurt like this ever again. He was speechless, as he was hurting himself from doing this to her. Also, he knew for a fact that she'd make him pay in a little while as well.
When the time came for them to make their stroll on the deck of the ship, Alessandro noticed the cool breeze bringing clouds with it. It would likely start raining before too long, but that was likely a little while away. Now, the air felt pretty damn good though as he walked with his arm around Rina's midsection. She had asked him if he was sure he wanted her to come along with him. Of course he did! He hadn't been so sure about something in awhile. He stopped and turned her towards him.
"I haven't been this sure of anything in awhile. I have been a hot mess for the last few years, and, honestly, I didn't know what I was going to do. When you popped in on that beach...yeah, that felt right. I'm glad I went there to drink my problems away, because it seemed to work this time."
He leaned down and planted a deep kiss on her own lips. He let himself linger for a moment, feeling the absolute euphoria that came with each time he'd found her mouth with his own. He pulled away but not far, and leaned his forehead to hers. His arms wrapped tightly around her midsection.
"Whatever this is...I'm in it for the long haul."
~~ Rina bustled around the room packing away her belongings in her bag; her nightclothes from the evening before, body wash, a souvenir keychain that she had bought. Rina had found just enough gil in the bottom of her bag to purchase it. It was shaped like the cruise ship that they were traveling on with sparkly waves on the bottom. It was a nice keepsake.
As she packed Rina had earbuds in her ears, listening to some music that would be perfect for dancing… if she could dance that was. Her hips seemed to be moving to the beat that only she could hear as she zipped up her bag. The only things left out were an outfit for the morning and her hairbrush. She had already changed into a nightgown and brushed her teeth, ready to go to bed whenever Alex was ready to.
Rina tossed her bag unceremoniously at the end of the bed before sitting on the mattress and removing her earbuds. She looked over to Alex pointing to his duffel bag. “Do you have everything packed and ready to go?”
The day was beginning to fade, and Alessandro found himself staring out of the window in their room. The last few days had been absolutely amazing, and he didn't want it to end, despite the fact that they were only mere hours from making port in Junon. Alessandro had a lot going through his head at the moment. He was still worried about the meeting he'd be having tomorrow afternoon with Tseng, even if he didn't know Two Guns was stopping by. For all he knew, this was his last night among the living. What he was about to do was suicidal at best. Shin-Ra had ordered him to be 'dealt with', and, well, he legally had been.
He'd barely registered Rina talking to him while he was lost in deep thought. He turned around and put his game face on, showing her a grin. He didn't want to ruin the last night on this special trip with such a dark feeling, so he'd shove it deep down inside.
"If I said yes, would you believe me?"
Of course he hadn't packed yet. That was a thing to be done two minutes before it was time to leave, wasn't it. At least, that's the way he'd usually gone about things. Taking a look around the room, Rina had already packed her bag, outside of a few essentials she'd need before then. Alex, on the other hand, was pretty sure he'd have to get a sock down from the hanging light fixture at some point.
"It'll only take a couple minutes, I'll go ahead and knock it out."
He walked into the bathroom to gather the few garments laying about the room. He scooped them all within his left arm, and walked into the living room. With his foot, he kicked up a pair of pants, in which he caught with his left pinky. The light fixture would be a pain, so he stuffed the small load into the bag, after pulling out the suit he'd need to wear the next day. He popped over to the small coffee table and put one foot on it, to test its ability to bear a load. He then stepped onto it, grabbed the sock, and fell on his rear as the coffee table collapsed under his weight. So, it wasn't load bearing. Got it.
"Graceful as usual.."
This was good. He could put away his worries and fears for a few more hours. It was a near emotional overload, but he thought he hid the fear in his eyes well enough anyway.
“Alex…that’s not a good idea.”
Rina watched with concern on her face as the man used the small table as a step ladder. She knew it was a bad idea. Alex was a slim and fit guy, but she knew how much all of the muscles he had weighed. Rina heard the table crack, before she watched it fall to the ground with Alex right behind it. Fortunately, the fall wasn’t long enough to hurt anything, but Rina rushed over to his aid anyway. She lowered herself to the ground, reaching for Alex’s face giving him a quick once over. She sighed and shook her head. “What am I going to do with you?”
Rina helped Alex to his feet, leading him over so they could both sit on the side of the bed. Rina leaned her head on to his shoulder, taking his hand in hers. She could feel how tense his body. He had been distracted most of the evening, so he must have been thinking hard about something. Rina lifted her head to place a small kiss upon his cheek. “Alex…are you okay? And I’m not talking about from the coffee table.” She grew quiet for a moment.
“You’re worried about tomorrow, aren’t you?”
