It was very vibrant and colorful and the townspeople weren't your average residents. They weren't even human at that. But, Vani couldn't judge. The 'rabbit', as she had been corrected, had been hospitable enough to graciously invite her to his home. He had offered his vehicle to her to be able to get off that wasteland called the Keyblade Graveyard. It was desolate and she doubted that she would have found anything there other than the possibility of her own death by dehydration. That was something she did wish to avoid as best as possible. The woman wasn't sure how she felt about the machine, but it had served it's purpose. They had gotten back to his homeworld and that was the key. From here she might be able to find a way home. That last thing she expected was to run into another ally.
Vani had joined his rather large family for breakfast before making her break to go explore the town. That's where she was currently, walking through one of the colorful streets. The amusement was how pleasant the townsfolk were. They were all smiling and rather helpful. They certainly knew that she wasn't from the town yet they were still nice to her. It was a change from her world. People could be cruel for no reason at times. Thankfully they'd been lucky most of their travels to find the right people to trust and rely on.
As she walked, she noticed a non-animal face in the distance. It was welcome to see someone that was more like her than anything. It took her another moment to realize that the attire was familiar. It was someone she knew and trusted with her life. The fact that she had not realized it sooner upset her. "Fin?" She almost asked as she approached the man, a huge smile on her face as she moved over to hug him. The black mage had been one of her allies alongside Zest and Rojo. She had worried most about the youngest of their group. He wasn't a big fan of people in general and she could see him getting himself into some trouble if he wasn't careful.
She'd been lucky to run into Zest on the world of enchanted dominion. But, after their fight with the heartless she had lost the man. She had no idea where he had ended up. But, it wasn't in the Keyblade Graveyard with her. However, she knew that he could fend for himself. He would probably be the one to locate Rojo. The red mage was in no trouble unless he decided to flirt with a married woman. That was where the danger lied with him.

Alwyn had said farewell to Oswald not too long ago. The little talking rabbit wanted him to join him and his gigantic family for dinner. While Alwyn tried to politely decline (he had never been a fan of crowds and Oswald's family numbered in the triple digits), Oswald insisted on bringing Alwyn to meet the wife, saying that he'd be able to get Alwyn to meet Vani. Such a scenario was unlikely, to say the least. Vani was probably adventuring with Zest anyways, she didn't have time to concern herself with lost little Alwyn. Still, Alwyn couldn't deny that he was intrigued at first by Oswald's offer. After all, it had been forever since he had seen his friends. Even Rojo would be a sight for sore eyes at this point. But, as he told the little rabbit, he decided to wait here on the bridge. He needed some time to think, he said. Oswald, finally, agreed, though he still said that his door was open should Alwyn decide to drop in. The Black Mage agreed and they parted ways for the time being. Alwyn raised his ice cream stick to finish off what remained of his treat. Looking down at the stick, he saw a curious thing. On it was the word "Winner" with a star next to it.
"Huh... wonder what this means. Guess I'll have to ask next time I get the chance." He wondered what kind of reward one got from being a Winner. Probably something lousy, like a statue with tissues going out of the nose. Alwyn couldn't imagine himself having one of those. Suddenly, however, he sensed someone approaching. Alwyn ignored it, after all, this was a bridge, it wasn't like he was in a private room or anything. Probably some passersby looking to see the next big race. Then he heard his name being spoken, which perked Alwyn up. Actually, not even his name, his nickname. Only three people knew him by "Fin". The voice was spoke it was very feminine. Could it be? No, she had to still be on Cornelia. Right? Alwyn's curiosity got the best of him and he turned around... just in time to get smothered in a hug. Alwyn's phobia about being touched by surprise kicked in and he tried to, at the very least, back off a little to get a good look at the person hugging him. Finally he managed to do so without breaking the hug and looked up to find...
Vani. She was as beautiful as Alwyn remembered. Her red hair still like flames as she smiled at him. Alwyn couldn't help but smile back, clearly taken aback by this sudden appearance. "I... Vani?! W-Where- HOW did you get here? I thought I was the only one- I mean... I didn't think you had been sent away from Cornelia. I just..." Alwyn blushed, unable to string together a coherent sentence. This was not a new thing, Alwyn seemed to stammer and fumble over his words more when the lovely thief was around. Memories came flooding back of Vani being the first to talk to Alwyn, of them fighting together, joking together. Then that last farewell. Alwyn pushed that last thought away. Now wasn't the time to lose himself in dark memories. Alwyn finally returned Vani's hug, then backed off politely. People would say things if they saw the two being so close. "H-How are you? A-And where's Zest? Or Rojo? Did you find them? Are they well?"

✉ notes: i hope you like this template!╾ mizo both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Vani was so happy to have found the boy. He was the youngest of their group, but he was far from immature. He was a smart man and was able to handle himself quite well as she had experienced first hand. She hadn't been worried about him being unable to defend himself. She had been worried that she wouldn't be able to find him. Fin was one of the only three people in the universe that she called a friend. They had barely seen each other when the world was saved and she'd been taking odd jobs just to keep herself busy. That, or she'd usually be having a few drinks with Rojo at whatever bar they decided to meet up with. Zest and Fin usually had their own things to be doing, so she hadn't seen them recently.
"I'm so happy I found you safe and in good health." She expressed as Alwyn, lovingly called Fin, babbled off his questions. She found it cute how flustered he could get at time. But, it never bothered her. Fin spoke up after returning her hug and backing up to give them a safe distance. It made her smile softly as she shifted to fix his hair a bit that she'd displaced from her sudden hug. She had found two of her allies at least, even if Zest had been dragged off by the dying heartless back in the Enchanted Dominion.
"I had been ambushed on Cornelia by these black shadows with yellow eyes. Next thing I knew, I wasn't home anymore. Oswald had brought me here from a place called the Keyblade Graveyard. I've been staying with him and his family. He told me I should go for a walk and I am very glad he did. How are you? How did you manage to leave Cornelia?" She explained before asking as she watched him. She felt a lot better knowing that he was safe and well.
When he asked about their other friends, her smile faltered a bit. "I have not seen Rojo yet. I met with Zest in the Enchanted Dominion, but we were separated when he went through a portal with a being that we had defeated. I couldn't grab him in time. But, I am sure he is fine. He's stronger than us. We'll find him again soon. We always find each other." Vani assured the Black Mage. He had grown a bit since she had last seen him.
"Onto lighter topics, what had you been up to back on Cornelia? It has been a while since I have seen you." Vani just presumed he wanted to continue his studies. She knew he was not the most social of the group, but it was still upsetting with how distant he had become within the group.

Alwyn still couldn't believe it was Vani. Even more, she hadn't changed in the slightest. She was still as beautiful as the day he met her and still incredibly kind. Out of all of them, Alwyn always had more of a connection with Vani than anyone else. The black mage personally attributed to both of them not taking too well to people. Heck, Vani was the first person Alwyn ever trusted with the details of his past. Alwyn always seemed to get along better with Vani than the other two Warriors. That wasn't to say he couldn't get along with Zest or Rojo, but Zest sometimes seemed like he had trouble just understanding how to be a friend and Rojo... well, he was Rojo. The two mages were such diametric opposites of each other that it was hard to believe they ever managed to work together. Alwyn felt a tighter bond with Vani. Her Beauty, personality, wit... Alwyn was just entranced by all of it. Which was why his Heart broke when she seemed to prefer a relationship with the other two. It was... hard to get used to. But eventually, Alwyn got over it. After all, her happiness was more important than his petty needs. In the end, that was all that mattered.
This pondering almost distracted Alwyn completely were it not for Vani messing with his hair. "H-Hey!" Just old times, Alwyn set about trying to fix his hair, not realizing that Vani was doing that very thing. Vani always treated him like a kid, something that Alwyn swore she did on purpose to tease him. Then she mentioned the black shadows with yellow eyes being the reason she wasn't in Cornelia. "So the Heartless are there, too..." Then Alwyn suddenly realized that Vani might not know what he was talking about. "Oh! They're called 'Heartless'. I've seen them just about everywhere and apparently they go after the 'Hearts' in people. I... admittedly am not sure what they mean, but I think they're talking about souls rather than organic Hearts. Er... Regardless, they're definitely bad news." Then Vani mentioned Oswald. Man, that rabbit traveled a lot, didn't he? "You met him, too, huh? Rabbit's quite the talkative type." Then Vani asked Alwyn questions, which got him a bit nervous. He blushed a bit, trying to resist appearing too creepy. "Well, I'm admittedly feeling a lot better now that I know you're alive and well, Vani. As for how I left... well, it's odd. I was in my room, enjoying my studies, when I just kinda... fell through a portal. It was all dark, too, I really couldn't see anything. Next thing I know I'm in the desert outside some place called Rabanastre. Turns out, I was on a completely different world. Since then, well, I've just been kinda researching the Heartless and also how everyone else does magic. It's quite curious, actually..."
Alwyn stopped himself. He didn't want their reunion spoiled by him delivering an hours-long monologue on the intricate details of magic and boring Vani to death. Alwyn could take an eternity to talk where magic was concerned. However, there was another reason. He didn't want Vani to find out he was doing research on how to break his own limitations on his magic. That was a bit too personal and Vani would probably think less of him for getting hung up on such a thing. But... it meant so much to him to learn magic and not being able to do that was frustrating, to say the least. Instead, he listened to Vani as she explained that while she hadn't found Rojo, she did find Zest quite easily. However, Zest had been taken away yet again. But Alwyn agreed with Vani. Out of all of them, Alwyn firmly believed Zest was the strongest despite Rojo's assertions. If anyone was going to escape the darkness, it would be Zest. "Yeah, I've got faith he'll make it, Vani. Don't worry. As for Rojo, I haven't found him either. I did hear rumors that he won some sort of tournament but I hit a dead end when I investigated. Still, I haven't completely discounted them. After all, Rojo WOULD win a tournament and immediately brag about it to everyone he met. We'll track him down, no problem." Alwyn smirked a bit. He was, in no way, disparaging Rojo's abilities. He was versatile and very strong. However, he could be reckless and go in over his head at times, his mouth not always matching his skills.
Then Vani asked what Alwyn had been up to. Ho boy... Alwyn couldn't lie to Vani, but he definitely couldn't say that, honestly, he really wasn't up to meeting the group any time soon. Heroing just wasn't really in his blood, even though he found himself betraying that notion with every monster they fell. "Well... to be honest... I kinda just went back to the Academy and continued my studies. I figured you guys didn't need my skills anymore so I just... I unno, continued my research." Alwyn neglected to say that he thought they didn't HIM anymore, but his low self-esteem was no excuse to worry Vani now. The last thing he wanted was for her to worry over him. "Adventuring's never really been a big thing for me... but honestly, and I mean this, it's really good to see you again."

✉ notes: i hope you like this template!╾ mizo both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Vani truly couldn't believe she'd found the black mage in such a cheerful and colorful town. Though, from the sound of it, he was travelling in a very similar fashion to herself. There was not much choice in their next destination or else they would be able to get back to home and regroup to return and face the evil together. That would be the best case scenario. However, every time she found someone she ended up losing them along the way. It was quite frustrating to say the least. The woman did best when she was with her closest allies and friends. Unlike the others, she did not handle being isolated all that well. She made plans with Rojo to meet up for drinks as he was the most social one of their group. Zest and Alwyn were off on their own expanding on their own adventures and sometimes she was jealous of that sheer willpower. They had such strong ideals that motivations that the moment their current quest was completed, they had already decided on their next one. Vani chuckled a bit at his reaction to fixing his hair.
Alwyn was always the smartest one of the group. His thoughts and ideas had assisted their travels in the beginning. Though, sometimes it was hard to get through to him. He was always very quiet and tended to keep to himself. But, he humored her sometimes and would hold a conversation. Their mutual understanding of black magic was probably the only topic that Alwyn enjoyed to discuss. So, she made sure that she allowed him to teach her new techniques when it came to the dark arts. Rojo usually having his own flair, she did prefer the way that Alwyn explained things. She just didn't like to bother him over silly things if she could help it. She never wanted to seem like a burden.
Yet, seeing him like this was a welcomed surprise. He already seemed to have done his research on these worlds. "Heart-less. I suppose it is rather fitting if they target the very heart of a being." Vani contemplated as she watched him begin to explain what he had learned. He always was the academic. It made Vani smile. "Rabanastre. I cannot say that I have heard of that world yet. But, I am glad you are safe too. I was hoping I'd find you somehow." He had started to explain he'd been doing his research, as she suspected. Though, he ended it rather quickly as he'd begun. Yet, Vani didn't push it. It was probably above her head and he didn't feel like dragging on to explain it to her. It didn't offend her. He had more important things to be handling than wasting time on her. They had a new objective that was going to take all their focus and energy.
The topic took a turn to their fourth, and certainly not least, ally. He always was over the top. Vani let out a defeated sigh as she placed her hands on her hips and shook her head a bit. "Always drawing attention to himself. He certainly can handle himself. But, if he ends up with the wrong woman, he could be in for a world of trouble." She half told herself before opening her eyes and taking her hands off her hips. This truly was her biggest concern for the man. He could easily end up with a knife in his back if he wasn't careful. The wrong slighted woman or vengeful husband would be his undoing. "If that is the case, we should be able to find him rather easily before his ego inflates too large for us to handle." Someone needed to let the air out of it on occasion to keep his feet on the ground and his head out of the clouds.
Alwyn then answered her question about what he had been up to. She was proud of him for continuing his studies. Though, he was too smart for them. She was sure that it was more his own research and him teaching than the reverse. The thief smiled at him and nodded a bit in understanding. "I'm glad. I haven't been doing anything half as interesting. Odd jobs for hired hands just to keep my skills sharp and drifting from place to place. So, I understand your feelings. My skills have felt unnecessary as well... I've seen Rojo a few times and we've gotten drinks. We figured you and Zest were just as busy as you seem to have been." Vani explained with a very soft smile, a small bit of sadness in her expression. She had really missed her friends. "It's a relief to finally feel needed again. Yet, not so happy that the worlds had to be in danger again to feel of use. I just wish you didn't have to do what you don't enjoy. The adventuring... You should be able to follow your passion and focus on what you love. I've always been jealous of that." She nodded a bit. "...I've missed you too, Fin." The sadness being replaced with joy again as he smile brightened a bit.
"We'll get this threat dealt with as quickly as possible for you. So, did you want to discuss strategy? Or were you taking some time off from your studies and research." She half asked as she watched the boy. She didn't want to interrupt his personal time. She didn't want to interrupt anything.

Alwyn couldn't keep himself from smiling. It felt just like old times again. Even though they were fighting for their lives most of the time, Alwyn had to admit, it was probably the happiest he had ever been. His friends never considered him a freak of nature and they were almost always welcome in any town. Well, except for that business with the Pirates in Pravoka. Sure, Alwyn always had his misgivings about adventuring but if he had the choice, he'd do it again, as long as it was with the same people. Alwyn even remembered when Vani was capable of using magic. He couldn't have been more proud of her with each spell she learned and always actively encouraged to keep learning. It was the closest he had ever come to actually admitting his love for her. But for all of his bravery in battle, he was a big coward at romance. But as long as she was happy, that's all that mattered. Besides, he'd like to think that Vani's magic helped her out of a jam or two, if only out of a teacher's pride.
Alwyn nodded at Vani's assessment of the Heartless. "Yeah, the name's pretty apt. Unfortunately, all I've come up with on them is exactly that. Their names and they appear in all sorts of sizes and shapes. They seem susceptible to magic, anyways. There's someone named Sora who's supposed to know what's going on, but the only clue I got was that he was on a world called Destiny Islands. A map to these places would be REALLY handy right now..." Alwyn's magic could easily Warp him to worlds, but only to ones he'd been to. Thus, it would be no help in tracking this Sora person down. Alwyn also nodded and his heart skipped a few beats when Vani mentioned that she knew she'd find him somehow. "Yeah, I'm glad I'm safe, too. Luckily, the people in Rabanastre were kind enough to get a room to stay in, so it's been my home away from home... well, when I'm thrown from world to the next." Alwyn chuckled a bit in embarrassment. He always felt like he was opening himself up too much to Vani.
Alwyn nodded at Vani about Rojo. Yeah, one would think that Rojo would've been the easiest to find. After all, one only had to follow the trail of angry women. Alwyn was even reminded of Marilith, the Fiend of Fire. Did Rojo try flirting with her? Alwyn couldn't remember, but it wouldn't have been out of character for him if he had. Vani then explained that she had been doing odd jobs to keep her skills sharp, which Alwyn approved of. At least she was making sure she wouldn't be taken by surprise by some monster while out in the worlds. Then she mentioned how she was glad to feel needed again. This struck Alwyn by surprise. It struck her more by surprise that she had only seen Rojo infrequently and hadn't seen Zest until very recently, apparently. But he thought... huh... had he been mistaken? It certainly wasn't out of the question. Alwyn wasn't exactly the trusting type so perceiving her going off to be happy with another friend wouldn't be unheard of. Now he felt stupid. But he still wasn't going to voice these opinions. No need to worry her even more. "Yeah, sure looks that way. Still, as much as I'm not much of an adventurer... or a hero, for that matter, I have a feeling Zest is going to swing by and tell us all to go fight these Heartless again. And well... At least if I'm adventuring with my friends, it won't be so bad."
Then she said those words. 'I missed you a lot, Fin'. Alwyn's train of thought promptly crashed. Did she... really say that? Out loud? In broad daylight? IN PUBLIC?! Alwyn's ability to resist blushing shattered completely and his cheeks became a deep scarlet. He admitted tried to look away but then just looked at the ground, trying not to be rude. Did she really miss him that much? Did she... like him that much? Alwyn's instincts to finally confess screamed out, but he managed to put a damper on that. He couldn't... there was just no way she'd say yes. And if he did, every interaction would just be super awkward. How could they function as a group if that happened. Alwyn took a deep breath and smiled and REALLY hoped it didn't look too creepy or awkward. "I... um... I missed you a lot, too, Vani." Oh God, even that was too much. Alwyn could feel himself getting ready to hyperventilate and thank whatever Gods there were that she changed the subject to strategies. "Ahem... Well, um, NO, no... I mean, yeah, I was taking a break, I guess, but I mean I don't mind being interrupted by you." GAH! NO! PULL IT BACK! PULL IT BACK! "I MEAN, I-I-I don't mind you interrupting me! I appreciate being graced by your presence!" STRATEGIES! TALK STRATEGIES! "I-I MEAN! Well... I've just been going around and asking people and researching whatever libraries they have. The only lead I got is this Sora person and I didn't even get a good description of him. I mean, it's not like he's gonna drop out of the sky and announce himself, right? Still... with four of us looking, we should be able to find him or at least someone connected to him. Heck, that might be just as good. One of them should give us an idea of what we're fighting against." Phew... nice save.

More than she could count if she was being honest. The way that she fought now rotated directly around her magical powers. It was all thanks to Alwyn's support that she had learned what she had. The woman hadn't learned much recently since they'd defeated Garland. There wasn't a need with the world at peace. Unlike Alwyn, she had become quite complacent in her life. Unwillingly, but she had. Now she was trying to catch back up to the strength that her comrades still seemed to have without any effort.
The conversation pulled her back as he explained the Heartless a bit in more detail. So there was more than one type of heartless. Heartless was more like a race than a single creature. That made a bit of sense. Like there were different type of fiends, but they were all fiends. The thief smiled and shook her head a bit at how he jumped topics so flawlessly. "Fin, slow down. You're jumping around a bit." Vani giggled a bit at his actions, covering her mouth a bit as she did. He was a trip sometimes. "But the size thing makes sense. Zest and I had defeated a large one until it had pulled him through the portal as it died. So you're saying this Sora would know more about the heartless and how the worlds are being affected? I suppose we can seek him out."
Alwyn added on by essentially agreeing that travelling with his old friends wouldn't be so bad. Vani smiled at this and nodded in agreement. It would be great to travel with her friends once more and not be completely alone. She had missed them all greatly. "I'm sure you're right. Zest would be pushing us to stopping the heartless and saving all the worlds. Rojo right along with him agreeing to everything he said, adding in that we couldn't do it without him." Vani added with a chuckle.
Fin blushing as bright as he did made Vani pause for a moment. Why was he blushing like that? Her eyes moved to look behind her to make sure there wasn't something she was missing. It certainly could not have been anything that she said, right? Though, as she opened her mouth to ask if he was alright, he managed to sputter out that he had missed her too. Was that what that was all about? Had he thought she hadn't missed him? She had missed them all so much, he couldn't understand. It was nice to not be alone again.
But the boy's sputtering continued as he practically tripped over his words again and again. "Fin, relax." She smiled as she placed a hand on his shoulder as he finished what he wanted to say. All the woman could do was shake her head. "But we can certainly do that. We can find this Sora after we find out what he looked like. We also need to find a way to gather all four of us together again so we're all on the same page. I don't know how much Rojo knows." She admitted to the boy. "I also have no way of getting back here if I lose you again...I didn't continue to expand my magic like you did."

It took a fair bit, but Alwyn finally calmed down. Well, he calmed down to the point where he wasn't stuttering over his words. His mind and heart were still racing at Vani's words and he almost felt compelled to pick them apart, but now wasn't the time. They hadn't seen each other in ages and, apparently, Vani did really care for Alwyn. He felt stupid for thinking that wasn't the case. Regardless, his blush subsided and he thought aloud, "Yeah, that seems to be our best option at this point. I just hope it isn't a dead end. Apparently, the Heartless are a really big problem on other worlds. I'd imagine it would take quite an effort to defeat them for good. I mean, then again, we DID beat Chaos, right?" Alwyn smiled at his little bit of humor. It had been a frustratingly long time since he had truly smiled. It felt good... really good. The black mage wanted to cherish this memory forever. His friends were the only people who seemed to look at him like a human being back on their world. This happened even AFTER beating Chaos, thanks to the time snarl messing with everyone's memories. Everyone else just looked at the pale sorcerer with the even paler hair like a freak. A demon. A monster. It took a toll on him and it wasn't really until he met his friends that Alwyn even realized that was the case.
Then Vani mentioned that she wouldn't be able to meet up with him again if they split up. Alwyn seemed to jerk out of his own thoughts at that and smiled again. "Oh! Well, heck, I can teach you the Warp spell, Vani, if you're interested. It can travel just about any distance, even between worlds. The only downside is that I really wouldn't advise using it to go places you haven't been to yet. You might warp into a volcano or the bottom of the ocean or something like that. But hey, if we get split up, Vani, we can always meet back here!" Alwyn was all too happy to teach Vani more of the black magic arts. Teaching was still somewhat new to him, but he found that he enjoyed doing it. That and it kept people from misusing black magic, at least that's what he thought. "Of course, if you want to learn it that is. You could ask that rabbit guy if you can borrow his craft, too... though I'm not sure I'd trust the people here for interplanetary travel... They seem much too silly for that sort of thing."

It was such a relief to have found him, one of her cloSest friends. She wasn't alone in the world anymore. Well, worlds. It was comforting to say the least. They only needed to find Rojo now. Though, by the sound of things, it would be quite simple to locate him. The thief watched Alwyn closely as he spoke. He had calmed down a bit after some time past and it was much easier to talk with him when he wasn't frantic. Fin spoke allowed his thoughts and Vani smiled softly at his statement. She certainly hadn't smiled as much in the last few years as she had in the last few days of finding her friends. It was a nice change to have a smile on her face than as emotionless as she normally seemed. It's what kept people at their distance when they saw her. She was quite intimidating and frightening to most. But, she was the most honest and trusting person once you got past her thick shell.
"Ha. Quite true, Fin." She giggled a bit in response to his enthusiasm about defeating all the heartless since they had defeated Garland. Even with all the time travelling non-sense. They had been through so much while they were doing all their missions. Yet they had still been victorious. Alwyn suddenly showed a lot of excitement after her statement about not being able to backtrack to this world. It seemed that he was more than prepared to teach her how to Warp back here with some black magic. It made her smile before she nodded a bit in agreement. "If you wouldn't mind and it didn't take much time out of your schedule, then I'd love that." She agreed. It would certainly help her out a lot. "It would come in handy.. and I would be sure not to use it for places I have not been.
The insult to Oswald made her giggle more. "Yes, it was much worse than the bumpy travel on our world. I do not plan to do that again. So, learning that would be beneficial. Do you have a place in town yet? If not, I am sure that Oswald would be more than fine with us staying with his family." She offered. The woman planned to stay here and rest. It would give her time to gain her bearings and hopefully learn the spell. She was sure he didn't have time right now to do it. She didn't want to waste his time.

Alwyn kept smiling at Vani. He truly felt at peace around her. "Then it's settled! I'll teach you how to Warp while we're both here! I mean, there's not much else to do around here." Alwyn pocketed the ice cream stick and sighed. Then Vani asked if he had a place to stay, mentioning that Oswald wouldn't mind them staying. "Not really, I honestly arrived not too long ago. As for staying with Oswald..." Would that really be fine? I mean, Oswald's home wasn't some inn, they were intruding on a family's home. A rather... well, extremely large family, but a family nonetheless. Then again, how much room could there be? Would he and Vani have to share a room? Or a...
NO! No... Alwyn shouldn't be thinking that.
Still, they needed a place to stay and Alwyn needed a place to teach Vani Warp. It wasn't an easy spell to learn, despite Alwyn's confidence in teaching it. After all, warping to the wrong place could lead to very nasty consequences. Still, it was incredibly useful and he knew Vani would put the spell to good use. She always did. Sometimes Alwyn wondered if Vani would've been a better black mage than a thief. It would've made the Academy more tolerable. Then again, that wasn't a high bar. Plague stood a good chance of making the Academy more tolerable. Alwyn looked at Vani and scratched the back of his head. "Well, I mean... I kinda don't want to impose on them, you know? And you've seen how many children that guy has! You know I'm not good with crowds." Alwyn took a deep breath. He wasn't being fair. "No, no... I'll handle it. As long as you're with me, I can handle anything." Alwyn felt a slight warmth come to his cheeks but ignored it as best as he could. "Well... I mean, we don't have to go right away, do we? Come, let me get some of this dessert for you. It's called Sea-Salt Ice Cream. I know, it doesn't sound all that great, but trust me, I think you'll like it." Alwyn waited for Vani to decide on whether she wanted dessert before he would walk off.

It had been a while since she'd learned anything new. Though, she wasn't aware of how high a spell tier it was. This was going to be harder than initially believed. But, with his teaching and her perseverance, they would manage it. The thief smiled softly in response. "Thank you, Fin. I owe you one." She didn't want to start him now about it. She was sure he was as tired and worn out as she was. It had been rather long few days. All of a sudden her world had grown immensely. It was hard to believe that other worlds like their own existed among the stars. It was interesting to her, but it was best not to get too involved in things such as this. Though, she knew that Zest would be determined to assist as much as possible. So, with that she would comply.
With the mention of Oswald, Vani giggled a bit. The man wasn't wrong. The house was a bit crowded for her liking. But, it was a place to rest her head. She was not aware of any other places in the town that she could stay, so Oswald just seemed to be the best option. She was sure that they'd have to share a room, but it wasn't something their group hadn't done before. It wasn't uncomfortable for her and it didn't cross her mind that it might be awkward for the mage.
Vani had been a thief for as long as she could remember. It was simply the skills that she was likely born with. Or, that was her thought on the matter. It was just that way for as long as she could remember and no one had told her differently. It was just how things were and she never had an interest in changing it. The most change that she had been involved with was learning basic magic from Alwyn. He had always been so helpful in that aspect and those spells ended up getting her from some tight spots in the past.
Vani giggled a bit at his panic regarding staying with Oswald. "I'm sure it wouldn't be a bother. We can share the space without issue. But no, we do not have to go right now." She agreed with a nod. That's when he offered going to get something sweet to eat. It made her smile again as she shook her head a bit and moved to follow him off. "Sure, I wouldn't mind trying it." At least she had had a meal already. A bit of icecream wouldn't have been enough to hold her over. She moved after him, letting him lead.

As the two Warriors of Light headed for town, Alwyn talked adamantly about his experiences traveling the worlds. He hadn't really truly realized fascinating it was for him on a personal level until he had a friend to talk with about it. It was nice to finally be able to talk with one of his friends again and with Vani, of all people. He had to admit, Fate had a weird way of working sometimes. Of all the former Warriors of Light Alwyn could've run into out here, he'd never guess Vani in a million years. His money would've been on Zest personally. He always seemed to be the magnet that held everyone together. Surely, he would've been out gathering the now separated Warriors again. But hey, Alwyn certainly wasn't going to knock Fate, especially when it granted him such a grand favor as this. Alwyn bought a couple Sea Salt Ice Creams and handed one to Vani. Then he pointed a place where they could sit and do some people watching. It wasn't something either of them did all the time, but occasionally, especially when they got to a new town, Alwyn and Vani would sit and watch the various people go about their business. Sometimes it was to watch for danger, sometimes it was to watch for idiots making a fool of themselves and someimtes it was merely to relax and enjoy the scenery. While there, Alwyn explained the basics of Warping to Vani. The Thief of Light was by no means an idiot, but Alwyn would be the first to admit that he could sometimes "nerd out", as Rojo would say, and talk in what amounted to magicbabble. So he explained things in basic English but he didn't try to dumb it down for Vani. He trusted her to tell him when something needed to be explained in better detail. Warping was a dangerous thing if you didn't now how to do it properly. But the two were content to talk as time passed. Alwyn hadn't felt this content in a good, long while. It was something he had truly needed but never realized it until he had it again. All the stress and weight of the past few years had drained away. The black mage wished it could never end. --Alwyn has exited the thread--

✉ notes: i hope you like this template!╾ mizo both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Vani was not big with actually speaking. She was a woman of few words and usually let the others speak for her. It was just her nature, unless she had a few drinks or was with her closest friends. But, the drinking wasn't as often as it had been. She had purpose again and didn't need the distraction from the shell of a life she'd started to become complacent in. So, it was nice to listen to Alwyn ramble off about everything he'd experienced so far. To be honest, he would probably enjoy writing a book on this after they completed their mission on these worlds. His enthusiasm did not go unnoticed as he spoke to her. It was sweet how engrossed in his tales he became. She really did love her friends. They never failed to brighten her mood. The two spoke for a while before he introduced her to Sea-Salt Ice cream. It truly was as good as he admitted it would be. Vani always trusted Fin's opinions and statements. He had never given her a reason not to. Once finished, he began to explain how the new ability "Warp" worked. It was more advanced than she realized. She listened intently to do her best to learn. Though, he could talk over her head sometimes. But, she didn't mind. It was sweet he thought so highly of her that he believed she would understand. Sometimes she did. But, his taking his time with her to teach her was much appreciated. Then, they could backtrack to the world she lost Zest on. Maybe they could find some clues to his whereabouts.
