After being in Eos, this little town was not very spectacular. Yes, their fountain was nice and they had some pretty decorative buildings, but it was nowhere near the same level of technology. It was a bit of a let down to him, especially losing his brother in the process. But, this was not the end of the world. He could suffer being in this semi-advanced town. Maybe he could sweet talk some of the locals and get some information. He moved through the town, his eyes looking over the buildings as he did. The place was very floral and overgrowing with life compared to his desert kingdom. It was refreshing for a change of scenery once in a while.
The young king walked for a while until he ran into a very odd looking talking duck who was very adamant about him trying some ice cream. Well, how could he pass up a delicacy such as that. The man paid for the icecream and moved to stand out of the way to enjoy it. He had no idea what kind he was given, he was taking the duck's recommendation. How could he pass up a talking duck's recommendation? At least he didn't seem to stare too much as the older animal handed it to him.
Edgar tasted it before nodding a bit in approval. "Gau and Relm would love this..." He commented with an approving nod. This town was not all that bad. At least the sweets were good. It was a major improvement over the food in his kingdom.

Sea-salt ice cream seemed to have quite the reputation. From what she had heard from the townspeople, it was delicacy brought over from Twilight Town thanks to Scrooge McDuck. At the mere thought of everlasting sunsets, Kairi is reminded of her friends back in Twilight Town – Hayner, Pence and Olette – and she could only wonder how they are doing; she remembered the last time she had seen them, she had found out that they had met Sora earlier.
The Princess remembered falling into place with them like she belonged there – her ability to easily befriend others was impeccable – and after Olette's remark of how romantic the story was, she was immediately reminded of Selphie and had felt a little apologetic towards her, considering the two of them had grown closer to each other during the year that Riku was away. Sora was too, but she couldn't remember him but somewhere deep in her heart, she knew she had forgotten.
If not, why would she always feel herself being drawn to the shores, searching the skies and hoping that her answers would simply drop from above? Why would she feel so wrong about going to an island that both herself, Selphie, Riku, Tidus and Wakka played on since they were kids?
Kairi shook her head, finding herself sinking far too deep into the past; all that mattered was the fact that her best friends had returned to her, safe and sound, and very much alive; she could live with the knowledge that the both of them were out there, protecting the worlds from falling into darkness. Riku and Sora were sincere souls and she felt truly lucky to be their friend — they were deserving to be called Keyblade wielders.
As she walked past several people, she noticed the cyan-coloured treat that they were feasting upon. She approached one of them, intent on asking whether it was the famous sea-salt ice cream everyone was talking about.
"Hey, is that sea-salt ice cream?" she asked, her mouth watering. When was the last time she had a good dessert? "It looks really good. Where can I get it?" TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There you go

Edgar was standing out of the way, enjoying his cold little treat. His eyes watching the small town bustle a bit in the meantime. It was nice to have some time to himself on occasion. The search for his friends could wait a few moments while he took a much deserved break. That's when he heard a young female voice address him. His deep blue eyes landing on the source of the noise. She was rather cute with a light pink dress that complimented her red hair and equally blue eyes. She seemed a little short to be honest, but he knew women older than himself that were equally as short as her. Her age was a bit questionable but she had to be old enough, right? She seemed older than Relm did.
"The talking duck with the black top hat and glasses on his bill." The king said rather matter of factly. His free hand gesturing to the small icecream cart that was a bit down the street. "Might as ask your age? I know it's usually not very polite, but with these words being as they are... I'm not of anyone's age anymore." He had gotten into a load of trouble hitting on Relm in the past. This time he was going to tread a little more careful. That was about all he could do in this situation. Right? He could be a bit shameless and hit on her now if he wanted. "But, I would like to compliment your attire. It is quite flattering, my dear. It truly bring out your eyes and goes well with your hair. Though, I am sure you are aware." It may seem more polite than flirting at the moment.
Edgar just needed to first know her age as he took another bite of the sea salt icecream in his hand. The girl had to be old enough to be an adult, right? She appeared to be older than Relm. Though, maybe a bit younger than Terra. The king was truly attempting to rationalize being able to flirt with her right now. He wanted the answer to be old enough that it wouldn't be shameful. He wouldn't make another mistake. It was bad enough he wouldn't live down flirting with Dieter. In Edgar's defense, even Sabin had believed him a woman. So, it wasn't too shameful. Right?

Ah, Scrooge McDuck. Trust him to pull some strings and get the job done. Kairi had heard about him before from Leon and the others. She remembered them all too well and she knew that she would need to say hello to say eventually. For some reason, she never managed to meet up with them — she had to thank them for two years ago since they welcomed her and took care of her while they were still residing in Traverse Town.
"I'm sixteen," Kairi replied with a smile, wondering where this young man had come from. Sifting through her memories, she tried to pick up any signs of whether she had seen this young man around before but based on their conversation alone, this was probably their first time encountering each other. "It's only fair that I know your age too, even if you're not anyone's age anymore."
As he complimented her, she flicked her hair in the same manner when Donald tossed a positive remark in her direction when both herself and Riku had gone to fight alongside Sora. Riku had passed her a Keyblade, taught her how to use it through his guidance. At that moment, Kairi knew that she was capable of doing more, of supporting her friends.
"Thank you," she said, feeling proud of her attire. It was a little more different than what she used to wear but it made moving around a lot easier, instead of those little slip-on shoes she used to don when she was younger but given the fact they lived on an island, it made sense — she could simply slip her feet out of her shoes and dip her toes in the cooling waters. Sixteen. Poor Edgar could not catch a break. First he decided to hit on a man in their last world. Now, now he was hitting on a teenager. Relm and Terra would kill him if they knew. But, at least his compliment was rather harmless and was taken well. Had it not been, then things would have gone a completely different direction. The king had let out a soft defeated sigh before he realized that she had asked for his age. Well, she was right. Edgar smiled a bit in amusement as she almost teased him. It was funny but his age was not something he usually volunteered. Though, it was only fair. He did ask her age and she had been honest from what he could tell. So, it was only fair. Edgar was a fair man.
"Twenty seven, milady...and you are quite welcome." He nodded his head slightly in response before deciding to switch the conversation so that he didn't make things too awkward. "You remind me of my younger comrade, Relm. She is about your age." He smiled as they spoke. She was quite the powerful girl. He was a bit leery about having her as an ally at first with her age. But, she certainly proved herself in that capacity. So, that was the end of that argument. They did have Gau as well. Both children by his aspect. But, both able to handle themselves.
Edgar took another bite of his ice cream before nodding. "Well, I've held you up enough. You're more than welcome to go get yourself some ice cream." The king chuckled a bit as he watched the young girl. She was rather sweet, much like his ice cream. It was simply a shame that he couldn't find someone a bit closer to his age... and gender preference. Maybe he was too off his game.
"Oh! Before you go. Can you happen to point me in the direction of an off world portal? I know people on Eos has no idea what I was talking about when I asked. So, don't feel bad if you aren't sure yourself." He had no idea that Kairi wasn't from this world either. He made the presumption that she was from here.

Eos must be another world, Kairi figured, that she did not know about. Neither Sora nor Riku has spoken about it; she figured that if they wanted to, they'd talk about it. Between the two of them, Sora was definitely the one who was more comfortable talking about things; Riku needed a little bit of coaxing. Had it not been for her, these two wouldn't have realised they were right next to each other the whole time.
They wouldn't have been able to come home, had it not been for her.
"There's an off-world portal just over there," she said, pointing in the direction of the gummi ship access point. As far as she knew, that was where Sora and Riku had dropped her off before they flew away to do whatever they needed to do. Kairi was certain that there were more exits but she hadn't gotten the chance to explore it yet. "My friends kind of dumped me here while they're off saving the world. They'll probably come back though. Where are you from?" TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There you go

Edgar watched the younger woman as she took in what he said to devise an appropriate response. When she finally spoke up, she gestured in the direction and explained that there was a portal over in that general area. It was nice to actually have someone so well informed to explain this to him. Trying to locate things and travel on his own was a bit difficult at moments. He simply wish that Setzer was here. The gambler could have gotten them around the worlds as easily as any of these portals would have. Honestly, it would have been easier.
Edgar bowed his head graciously before taking the young girl's hand to kiss as his way of saying thank you. It wasn't anything odd for his world, especially when it was from a king. He wouldn't think twice about doing it to any of his girls, or any girl for that matter. Especially when Kairi had been so helpful. He started to thank her verbally when she mentioned that she'd been dumped off here by her friends and asking him a follow up question.
The king blinked in surprise. "Well, I guess you knowing the location wouldn't be anything impressive if you're a traveler like myself. I apologize for mistaking you for a resident here." Edgar apologized as he carefully released her hand. "May I purchase you your cold treat and possibly pick your brain? I'm sure you know more about these worlds and travels than I do." He requested. It was hopefully not too forward of him. But, being able to learn this was a huge accomplishment for him. He was usually the one that would gain intelligence other than Locke. But, with his whereabouts being unknown, Edgar was the knowledge seeker. Even if he'd rather spend his time researching the technology.
"My homeworld? Well... I suppose it's a world of balance and ruin. It's rather advanced in areas technologically. Areas with airships and the like. Then, we don't all have running water like this world... What about yourself?" He asked in response. If she traveled, she might have even been to his realm.

Kairi found herself a little stunned from the moment he took her hand and pressed a simple, chaste kiss to the back of it. At that moment, she concluded that this guy must be either a Casanova or something else entirely. Instead, she let out a light giggle.
"I was a resident here," she corrected him. "I no longer live here but it kind of looks like how I remembered it, with some changes here and there. I still could help out, just a little." It was a good way to familiarise herself, considering that she already had befriended a few villagers. There were some who remembered her and her grandmother and when asked about her lovely grandmother, Kairi found that she couldn't respond.
The thought lingered in her mind: what had happened to her grandmother? She hadn't seen the old lady around, even after the worlds had been restored.
"It's okay. I've got enough munny for myself," Kairi said, indirectly rejecting his offer. If there was anything she had learnt over her course of training, it was that she needed to be self-reliant. At the same time, she didn't feel too comfortable about a stranger offering to pay for her. She gestured for him to lead the way to Scrooge McDuck so that she could get a taste of the famed sea-salt ice cream.
As their conversations veered onto the topic of homes, the older man spoke of his place; Kairi then realised that he hadn't gotten his name but she figured that she'd do it before they parted ways.
"Destiny Islands. We live a fairly simple life — there's the town area and there's the quiet housing areas, next to the beaches. Everyone knows everyone so we're kind of like a small community and we all help out whenever we can, should anyone need it," she explained. Kairi was often there to help out because she is the adopted daughter of the mayor. Most of the time, she volunteered to do so. TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There you go. Hope this works.

Edgar was very gentlemanly to say the least. It was not uncommon for him to be overly courteous. It honestly made him even more popular with the woman. But alas, none of them ever seemed to response to his advances when he tried harder than his normal routine. He'd found out from others of his group that the woman in town found him sweet, but they all knew to keep their distance romantically. It was a downfall of his at times, but one of his greatest assets as well. His flirtatious nature had actually saved all their lives in the past. He'd gotten information of an attack on his comrades from a simple barmaid. So, it was a quality that he'd never let dwindle.
The king listened to the young girl speak after giggling at his actions. Obviously there was a lack of true chivalrous men in this world and all the worlds that she visited. It was a shame that these worlds were do different than others. The young girl was sweet and obviously independent in her own nature. "Well, hopefully all good changes in your eyes." He agreed with a faint and polite nod as they spoke.
Kairi continued on to explain a bit about her home world being an island. It sounded quite nice. A vacation wouldn't be completely unwelcome. He would certainly enjoy that. He did enjoy the sand more than some people. Kefka was one that particularly hated the desert. Edgar just never really understood why. Maybe it was the simple fact that he was a homicidal clown. They couldn't truly like anything. "That does sound quite nice. My kingdom is similar in that it has sand, but alas no beautiful ocean to enjoy. It's a rather average sized desert with a castle and town in the middle of it." He explained as he moved with her to collect the icecream. "Does your homeworld consist of more than just an island?" He wasn't quite sure how it all worked. His world was rather big compared to this one or this Destiny Islands she was speaking of. He was quite curious.

As the both of them walked, Kairi listened to the man describing his homeworld. For a moment, she is reminded of Agrabah, as described by Sora: a city surrounded by walls and sandy expanses, with the Cave of Wonders somewhere in the far-off distance. He then pushed the topic back to her, about her island, and Kairi was more than happy to talk about the place she considered home.
"Well, it consists of the main island and the children's playground," Kairi explained, her mind drifting back to the life and times when they were kids: Selphie, Wakka, Tidus, herself, Sora and Riku would play together. If anything, the whole island was a community; everyone knew each other, whether they liked it or not. As the mayor's daughter, she was to set a good example for everyone else around her but to be fair, when she was a kid, there weren't too many expectations for her being perfect, especially since she had befriended two mischievous kids.
"The children's playground is not exactly for children but most of us played there while growing up. It's kind of a paradise away from the grown-ups, you know? It's not part of the mainland and most of us have to travel there by boat." TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There you go. Sorry for the late reply.

Edgar really needed to find Relm and Gau. Meeting this young woman made him worry a bit about the two's safety. Yes, Gau would probably be fine. He was used to living on his own and fending in the wild. But, Relm always had her grandfather to take care of her. If they weren't together, who knew what trouble she'd be in. But there was really nothing he could do about it but gather as much information as he could and try to figure it all out on his own. He was sure that the others were looking for the kids too.
Kairi began by explaining how their island was designed and he nodded. It was quite small indeed. He hadn't expected that seeing as how big his world was compared to what the young girl was explaining. It was such a surprise. "Huh. That's quite small compared to what I expected. But, no. I understand that completely. It's nice to have a place sectioned off and away from everything else. I'm sure you must enjoy and miss the ocean."
Edgar didn't have a whole lot of experience with the ocean. He had been there and he knew what it was. But, he much preferred his sand without the salt water. As long as there wasn't a drought, it was a nice area. He liked the dry heat. It's what he was raised to know. Everyone preferred their own bed and their own world. It was the same for Edgar, or so he told himself. Sabin preferred to travel and avoid his homeland. It was the freedom that Edgar had given him. He knew that his brother wanted see the world. He didn't want to be trapped in the desert ruling a kingdom. It's why he'd rigged that coin flip years before.
"Have you done much travelling other than your island and here?" He politely asked as they kept each other company.

"I do miss the ocean. I wish we were connected to everything else," Kairi said. Being disconnected from most of the world sucked but because of that, Destiny Islands was full of people who knew how to sustain themselves. Even if Kairi did not how to fight back then, she knew how to survive. Setting up fires, being able to crack coconuts open to drink from the liquid within and putting a raft together – it was all thanks to her friends and her foster father that she knew how to do this, as well as the people of the island. "However, I think it's a blessing that we're not that connected either. It allows us to be self-sustainable."
Had she done much travelling before here? Well, she apparently had but within the depths of Sora's heart while her physical body was in a comatose state, its heart separated from its owner. "I have been to other places... well, kinda," she said, lightly scratching the surface of her cheek in an awkward manner. "It's a bit of a long story but there were places I went to see, thanks to my friends, and stories I have heard but never really stayed around for too long though. There were things to do."
And there are still so many things to do, she thought to herself. Kairi found herself wondering how many people knew of the existence of the Princesses of Heart, how many people she posed a threat to and how people sought after her, apart from the obviously evil beings she had ran into. It was as though they refused to remain dead or be buried in the ground. TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There you go. Sorry for the incredibly late reply.

Edgar listened to the young girl speak of the ocean and how she missed it. He did truly understand her sentiment. As much as he enjoyed being in the middle of the desert, safe from the other nations. Sometimes he was disappointed how far away they all were. With how disconnected they seemed to be until you stepped back and observed it as it was. It was hard to see the connections until you truly looked. No matter how far away it was, they were still connected. Even if it didn't seem to be at face value.
The king shook these thoughts away. They wouldn't make much sense to the young girl. "I see your point, my dear." He simply agreed. It wasn't worth disagreeing on a topic like this. Everyone had their own views. This was her's. If it made her feel better believing that she and her world was 'self-sustainable', that was good. Kairi was far too young to be concerned with such things. She should be off with friends her age enjoying life. It was too short.
The question of travelling seemed to give the red head pause. Had it been the way he phrased it? Why had she stopped to think about the answer? Had she traveled that much that she wasn't sure where to begin? Edgar listened to her response and gauged it. Did that mean she didn't travel much and felt that she traveled more through her friend's experiences than physically? That seemed to be how he took it. The king nodded his head in understanding. "Friends do have a way of describing things so well sometimes that you felt you were there, don't they?" He smiled.
Edgar knew nothing of the princesses of heart. He had only recently learned of heartless and the existence of other worlds. He would need a little time to get more in depth to things like that. That much was obvious. "Any particular destination you plan to visit when you finish here?"

"Yeah," she agreed. Then again, Sora was the vivid, expressive sort and with Riku being ever so detailed, it was no surprise that she got the in-depth version of everything and how could they forget? They had been living lives of a normal islander and the next thing they knew, they were suddenly thrust into an adventure, one that they didn't expect to change their lives. It was hard to forget things that were thrown to them, especially when they never asked for any of it to happen to them.
"It's also because we're connected deep down," she expanded upon what Edgar said and what she thought of that one simple sentence. "Every single person we meet, we form a connection to them. I think that's how the power of friendship works."
There were places she wanted to go and oh boy, was she spoilt for choice. "I do," she said. The memory of the setting sun and for a moment, she was looking directly at Roxas in the eye but the voice that emerged from her being wasn't her own but her other half's, Naminé — this is her memory, of when she first met Roxas and introduced herself to him in Twilight Town.
"There's a place I want to go, filled with neverending sunsets. Where will you go?" she asked the older man, wondering where his next destination would be, if Radiant Garden was merely a stopover for him. TAGGED // @edgar NOTES // There ya go!

Edgar listened intently as the young girl spoke with such vigor. It was sweet how innocent and naive she was. Oh, to go back to a time where he thought the 'power of friendship' was something tangible. He had bonds that were unbreakable with his brother and allies. Though, friendship had nothing to really do with it. It was mutual trust and respect that kept them going and fighting through it all. The will to save the world and keep Kefka at bay as best they could manage. If only this power that Kairi spoke of was something. Then, just then, he could reach his other comrades in arms again.
Yet, Edgar was not going to ruin this young girl's hopes and dreams. She would learn in time how the worlds truly worked. More power to her if there was a thing as friendship magic from her world that connected the trio. "Ah, then I take it we're connect now. Just by meeting." The king said with a soft smile. He could play along. It's probably the only reason that Relm and Gau even bothered talking to him. He was more than willing to play the role they offered him.
After a few moments, Kairi spoke of a place that she wished to go. The concept of it quite amusing to a person like the king. Yes, he believed in magic and espers after seeing it first hand. But he was a skeptic as well. A world where there was only sunsets? It wasn't physically possible. Right? The planets rotated the sun. Right? It seemed logical. How could a world thrive if the sun did not move. Did that mean there was a town of only sunrises and nights? But, maybe this was just a dream. Something that would keep her exploring till she was much older. He wouldn't take that dream away.
"Quite an interesting world. I would love to hear all about it when you do find a world like that. As for myself? I suppose I would enjoy a world that is just one vast desert. A place like my hometown. It would be interesting to see the difference in cultures and wildlife. But, I truly only wish to get back to my friends and my brother back on my homeworld. I suppose that is where I will go." Edgar smiled and nodded at her as he finished his icecream. "Or even a world that boasted about better delights than this." He joked.
